hit with blinding downpours. this video from north carolina showing what drivers faced on interstate 95 south of raleigh as severe storms moved through the area. and in indiana, two children were hospitalized after a possible lightning strike near lapse. and this driver taking a big risk, crossing a flooded road. in parts of texas, days of heavy rain and flash flooding. an event in houston called the extreme weather ready expo has been postponed because of, you guessed it, extreme weather in the forecast this weekend. but on the west coast, it's the lack of rain posing the threat. fulsome lake outside sacramento is 68 feet lower than last year that drop equivalent to a five-story building. droughts are common in california, but experts say it's worse this year due to a lack of snow in higher elevations combined with hotter, dryer weather. the before and after from lake oroville are striking. the lake in northern california is on track to drop to its lowest level in 40 years.

promising that cyber security is a top priority. the justice department now says when a cyber attack does happen, an urgent report notification will then be blasted out to law enforcement across the country, telling them to be on alert. >> our thanks to whit johnson. in the past year, an estimated $350 million have been paid to hackers after ransomeware attacks. experts are calling for a crackdown on digital currencies, which have allowed hackers to be paid without a trace. the cdc is expected to release details today about the number of teenagers being hospitalized with covid. the numbers being called troubling, including the number of adolescents being put on ventilators. doctors say it's evidence that teens need to be vaccinated. >> we need to realize this virus does affect children and teenagers. they need to be vaccinated. they make up 25% of the u.s. population. so it's important to keep them safe and keep their communities safe through vaccines. >> meanwhile, dr. anthony fauci says he is cautiously optimistic that kids under 12 will be
