coast into san francisco. we will talk about the weekend forecast coming up. this morning we have more clarity on how long you will have to keep her mask on at work. >> we are live in pleasanton with more on the new cal/osha covid-19 regulations for the workplace. >> reporter: good morning. the decision they made last night was controversial with many opponents to this plan spending hours speaking out against it during the public comments section of the meeting. the rules for the office will be stricter than the rules from the state. on june 15 the state is largely reopening and allowing vaccinated people to take off their masks, but callow osha has decided if anyone in the workplace is a vaccinated, everyone must wear a mask. businesses say they are worried this will stigmatize unvaccinated workers and make it very awkward in the workplace . there also upset at being required to supply everyone with expensive hard to get masks.

>> employees you don't believe in vaccination will not want to use the masks. >> reporter: while several businesses and some workers and trade groups spoke out against the measure, several unions applauded the move and support the rules. the board did feel the pressure from all the opposition and went ahead and took the phone, but then quickly said this will be temporary. they will quickly work on coming up with another plan. these rules will be going into effect on june 15. so if everyone in the office is vaccinated, the masks can come off, but if one person doesn't show proof of vaccination, everyone must wear a mask. today 15 vaccinated californians will be $50,000 richer. this is the first of three cash prize drawings in the incentive

[ laughter ] >> it's a good thing. a morning everybody. happy friday. you're watching abc7 morning's live at abc7 and wherever you stream. before we get to the macarena story, were checking in with mike for a look at the friday forecast. we will start with what is going on with the marine layer . it is compressed down to 1200 feet and dropping the visibility along the peninsula coast about one mile around half the bay. it will be around for the better part of the morning commute . it is bumping into the san bruno mountains with some drizzle that will keep things a little greener they are and lower the fire danger. the winds are pretty fast along the altamont pass southwest 17 to 24 miles per hour. watch out for that. also through the delta, 29 miles per hour. we will have some low clouds

business owners, trade groups and employees speaking out against it. critics say they're worried this will stigmatize unvaccinated people in the workplace, saying vaccinated workers to get angry and start looking for whose fault it is they have to wear a mask. they also point out this goes against federal and state guidelines. >> this regulation needs improvement because we do not support the amendment. it does not mean employers do not support, and indeed, they are already protecting employees from covid-19. >> reporter: the board also voted to require businesses to supply those expensive to get n95 masks for employees. that was also strongly criticized. several union support the measure, saying masks are an essential worker protection , but the opposition from businesses was strong and the board was impacted by that and is now saying that, even though it went ahead and took the vote last night, this will be temporary and they are going to work to come up with a different plan. that these rules are set to go into effect on june 15.

are urging all school districts to return to full in person learning this fall. they appeared together in person for the first time in more than a year. >> as you know, we have charted slightly different paths over the course of the pandemic. it has been enormously difficult. on this mere 100% united. >> the health officers say the risk of covid transmission among children wearing masks in the classroom is very low. good news for restaurants and bars across california. mixed drinks made to go will be allowed through the end of the year. >> the governor announced this. the state department of alcoholic beverage control extended the rules that allow this to happen. he was speaking in front of a restaurant in san francisco yesterday. the governor also said he wants to see mayors across the state supporting this. >> this has taken off everywhere. every part of the state has

insurrection applauded capitol police and federal law enforcement and their response. he delivered his 30 minute speech in front of the hillsborough county republican committee annual lincoln/reagan dinner. the appearance fueled speculation he is eyeing a 2024 run for the white house. extreme weather across the nation. the west coast dealing with severe drought, people in the east coast have the opposite problem, the south the same thing. they are getting hit with downpours. this video from north carolina shows with drivers based on interstate 95 south of raleigh and severe storms moved through the area. in fact, an event in houston called the extreme weather ready expo have to be postponed because of extreme weather. here on the west coast it is the lack of rain that is posing a threat. this before and after look at a quite a difference.>>here prect

of the summer there will e mps, they may have to move marinas all over water. >> state water officials are prepared to shut down the hydroelectric power plant at lake oroville in august if the water level continues to drop. it is currently running at 20% capacity. firefighters in boulder creek are reminding us that the smallest spark can turn into a wildfire. they shared video of a smoldering tree that dropped ambers that started several small fires nearby. firefighters say the tree had been burning for some time, likely from a seven acre fire that burned in the area on monday, but thankfully it wasn't windy and crews were able to get the fire out without much trouble. in any case, between -- seen that before and after of the lake, it does tell the story. >> there dropping faster than they did during the last route. part of that is because we've

had to fight so many fires they have been pulling water out of the lakes also. catching people off guard is the fact the reservoirs are dropping so much faster than the last drought. this will be the second time that they stop the hydroelectric plant ever if it does happen. more than likely it will. we are not getting any rate. unless we cut back more, it will keep dropping. this is not good. let's take a look at what is going on. let's put a positive spin on it since it is friday. nice weather right now with temperatures in the mid-to upper 50s for most of the trivalley. out in the delta pretty warm. those are the warm temperatures into you get to 1800 feet at 66. in the lower elevations 50s. east bay hills looking to the northwest, you can see the marine layer is about 1200 feet
