after he was killed by a vallejo police officer. he was shot to death this week last june standing outside a walgreens where he had -- where there had been a looting. the officer thought he had a gun. it turned out to be a hammer. an independent review is underway to determine if the officer should have criminal charges. an east bay family is remembering another young man's death at the hands of police. and at the same time hoping to help others. abc 7 news was at lancaster park in walnut creek as a memorial was dedicated to miles hall, shot and killed by police in 2019 as he went through a mental health crisis. >> change has to happen. to make sure that they do have more

training for mental health. that there's more crisis intervention as well. >> the memorial is to all families and friends who have lost someone who went through mental health challenges. crews searched today in san francisco's marina district for a missing 84-year-old grandmother. she was last seen on may 28th wearing a pink puffy jacket, purple sweater, brown pants and a red beanie. san francisco police say officers searched the area for her today. investigators looked for possible surveillance video. we've already seen several small bay area wildfires this year. and the season hasn't even hit its peak months. the north bay is making sure its residents are ready. an evacuation drill

north carolina is being denied his diploma for wearing a mexican flag over his graduation gown. it happened on thursday. in asheboro. the student received a diploma holder but returned to his seat without the actual diploma. school officials say he was denied because he violated dress code. the student told a local newspaper he wore the flag to represent his family. there are new details about what happened on a delta airlines flight where a man apparently tried to break into the cockpit. >> my wife said quick, look. the flight attendant's fighting with someone. and apparently he was trying to get into the cockpit. so i dove out of my seat and helped wrestle the guy.
