bart would carry something like 450,000 riders per day, now maybe 70,000, but still, it is progress. >> reporter: slowly, very slowly, riders are returning to bark. there is a faint light at the end of the tunnel as ridership is up to 17% of what it was pre- pandemic. some people once again see the system as a safe way to travel. >> just a few months ago, i remember the trains being totally empty. now it is difficult to find a seat. >> reporter: revenues may be down, but thanks to federal relief funds, bart is able to ramp up surface. this week, adding additional trips monday through friday, including to sfo. >> reporter: when you get on the train, they are not as empty as they used to be. we have seen a significant jump in the last week, but for everyone who is masking

ride bart, there are more hitting the road. according to one commission, traffic on the bay bridge for the first week of june is up to 90% what it was pre-pandemic. but there is one big caveat. toll statistics show the carpool lane is mostly empty, 15% of normal. most drivers are still choosing to go it alone. >> getting folks to share the ride has always been a heavy lift. it is something that we at mtc, any number of operations have been promoting for decades -- literally, decades. there is clearly a lot of work to do and left to be done. >> reporter: do you worry some people have change their habits permanently? >> absolutely. every transit system in the country is worried about that. every transit system is worried about remote work. what that means to us is we will do a er job. port isplanni

a man and his girlfriend are in jail in connection with a road rage shooting that killed a six-year-old boy in orange county. marcus aries s s s s s s arrested at their home, yesterday, the day after memorial service for aiden leos. he was shot on may 21st, sitting in the backseat of a car that was driven by his mother. just a short time ago the district attorney got emotional and talking about this case. >> i do want to promise toy, when aidan that we will get justice for him. we have to promise him that. it is so important for that little boy to have set an example for the rest of society on how we treat each other.

life -- i should say, later today, she will travel to mexico to discuss the same topic. the marin county kayaker who tried to paddle solo from sausalito to hawaii only to be rescued six days into his journey is vowing to try once again. the coast guard picked him up, he was only a few miles west of santa cruz, he called after his kayak was damaged and tossed around in the waves. he lost his gps for days due to the rough seas. he spoke about the rescue on midday live. >> it was some luxury to be 60 miles away from shore. had it been in the middle of the pacific, i might've had to do the same thing, call for rescue, it would have not been the coast guard, it would have been someone else who came to get me. the survival at sea course we all take when we take these endeavors teaches us we have to be able to be self sustainable for 48 hours. you know, i would have been able to do this. if it is survival, i would have

university of southern california. i came out as queer, but what pushed me to come out was dragged. i got in drag for the first time for a friend's film. when i did that, i was sort of surprised by how quickly i took to it. maybe i wasn't surprised. i think, you know, dressing permanently, you know,you know, on women's clothing and shoes, i mean, that was something i always wanted to do and knew that i couldn't do when i was a kid. i would play dress-up at daycare. i don't know that i thought about my gender identity. maybe it wasn't talked about that much. the only way to get representation growing up, trans people i saw were often the butt of the joke in the film. it never presented to me as an option. i did no drag queens growing up in san francisco, being the gay mecca of the world, we have a lot of drag queens here. learning about my gender was

definitely a process. i came out as queer at first. over time, when i started to become a drag queen, the performing regularly, it was a part of myself that was an essential part of over the years, especially when i went on rupaul's drag race and started doing drag professionally, it really became melded with my personality. i think for a lot of drag queens in particular, when they do drag, their persona is a reimagined version of themselves. for me, it was very much just me. you know? it was a full rotation -- representation of what i didn't change who i was on

the inside or what i was embodying when i did dragon. i was doing myself with a little more glitter on. when i started to do drag on a regular basis, this is when i realized it was more than just a performance, but was part of who i was. it was in the back room at the stud, at the white horse, at the midnight sun, that i really got to know the trans women who are part of the drag scene. many of them, before i knew i was trans were telling me i was trans. there was another drag queen by the name of jupiter. i remember specifically being backstage and asking me, are you pickling? to her, that meant are you on the hormones? i remember being like, i don't know why she keeps asking me this. she would say, you are pickling. that was her way of saying she saw i was trans, you know, not just a boy in drag. >> you can watch all of honey's story streaming on our app with a full collection of stories from pride month. that up -- app is available to download on fire tv and roku.

progression of alzheimer's in the brain. the drugs that are currently out there only ease symptoms of the disease. >> it is not your grandma in a wheelchair, but it is, but it's also me. >> reporter: pam is showing symptoms of mild impairment, it started around 2012. she was diagnosed with early alzheimer's later. she would be a good candidate for the new drug that was just given accelerated approval status by the fda to slow the progression of the disease. the human brain has neurotransmitters constantly sending messages. >> reporter: in alzheimer's, protein begins to plumped together, blocking the brains ability to send those message. >> reporter: they said the drug given once a month through the iv begins to dissolve those and lloyds. >> it is different than the ones who came before, but this one could potentially buy more
