>> reporter: if you're having problems you are not alone, amazon, reddit, target, those are just some of the websites that could not be accessed about an hour and a half ago. error messages just after 3:00 a.m. our time. it was connected to cloud service company vastly that is based here in san francisco. it affected hbo maps, cnn, paypal, they provide key services. the impacted websites were down for about an hour. they reported it and identified the issue and applied the announcement just before 4:00 this morning. it is not clear what caused this problem. we will bring you the latest way as we get them. a nationwide search for this san jose mother. she is accused of killing her seven-year-old son liam. the boy's body was discovered on a hiking trail more than a week ago.

>> we have what happen and the ongoing search for the mother. >> reporter: a q-tip came in here from a family friend think that the mother and son had not been seen in a week. now police believe the worst has happened. they accused 35-year-old samantha moreno rodriguez of killing her seven-year-old son, liam husted. his body was found in a rural area of las vegas on a trail just off the highway. police did not release a motive or how he died. >> seven years old, that is tragic. you have to be in a different kind of place to kill your own child. i hope they find her. i do not even know what to say. that is sad. >> reporter: here is a look at her activity before the body was found. police say mother and son were last seen in san jose on may 24th.

then they were spotted in laguna beach and then moved on to victorville california. police say she was driving a dark blue dodge caliber with a license plate 6wlh211. she was last seen in the denver area at a hotel. police say the boy's father is not a suspect. reporting live in san jose, abc 7 is. outdoor park let's are one xte. closer to becoming a e was appotein fathe van. they delayed permit fees, required ge it now goes to the entire board weeks. not before another hearing with public comment. that is scheduled for june 18.

we expect more details on the return to in person learning for students in san francisco. they are set to give an update on the plans for summer and fall. school officials have the regular board meeting at 4:00 this afternoon. on that agenda, health and safety goals for all classrooms, before and after school care, school meals and transportation. they are working to improve safety for students taking public transportation. >> contra costa county officials will discuss how they are preparing for this year's wildfire season. the sheriff's office and fire district will make a presentation to the board of supervisors today. last year a massive scu lightning complex firebird parts of contra costa county. be the woon record. ld >> the bay area is considering mandatory water restrictions. the santa clara district will make the decision for 2 million residents tomorrow. the counties in the red have

already enacted restrictions. the counties in the yellow including san francisco and alameda are asking for voluntary cutbacks. santa clara county's mandatory proposal would have a new limit or stop using water for landscaping, swimming pools, fountains, carwashes and more. >> we are talking about half the water issues for outside landscaping. we are asking people to cut back on the the district said cutting water for landscaping is critical to meeting conservation goals. >> there are easy ways to save water. we break down the small changes that can make a difference. >> i did it in my home, you can do it in your home. >> reporter: for longtime californians, conserving water is nothing new. this is some coverts of the drought in 1997. >> if you feel you must use the dishwasher, make sure it is jampacked full before you turn it on. >> reporter: to this day, that

is a really good tip as we try to save water. there are many other things that we can do to. >> simple changes make a difference. >> reporter: one trick is you can use a bucket to save the water that we usually waste while warming up our shower. you can use that water for other things like watering your plants. remember that old phrase if it's yellow, let it mellow, if you do not want to flush your toilet as much, pour some lysol into it it turns the water yellow and it gets rid of descent. checking for leaks is important. >> a running toilet can waste up to 200 gallons of water a day. >> also consider water filtration systems like this one that will allow you to wash your hands with water that you can use in your toilet. you could also get a system like this that you can reuse water from your laundry in your yard. some counties offer rebates if you buy them. one of the biggest water

>> the reason we are talking about this is because most of us or at least half of us are in the exceptional, highest drat drought category there is. this will be updated on thursday, it probably will not change because we do not expect much rain. it cannot get much worse. talk about what is going on temperature wise. 46 in santa clara, 52 in san jose. temperatures this morning, just a touch cooler especially down in the south bay. low and mid 50s in the east bay, a few 40 showing up around napa and out towards bodega bay. it is breezy and some areas as we look from our roof camera, not quite as aggressive nor is the potential for damage like it was yesterday. the big story is even with the sunshine, look at these temperatures, 50s, 60s, where are the 70s? we will get there briefly around 2:00, for the most part, we are going to be 10-15 degrees cooler than average.

starting today, oakland residents can apply for the cities guaranteed income program. it is one such program and the country. >> reporter: the program is called oakland resilient families. the first round of applications will open today for 300 families that live in east oakland. they must live in a one square mile boundary. a second round of applications will open for another 300 families later this summer. applicants will be randomly selected to get $500 a month for a year and a here is who is eligible, low income families with one child under 18 and residents who make $89,000 a year for a family of three. that is at or below 50% of the median income. applicants who are black, indigenous or other people of color will be prioritized. the recipients can be

the peninsula. mid and upper 50s along the coast, low 60s downtown, south san francisco. mid 50s along the north bay coast. look at this, mainly mid 60s to barely 70 through the northbay valley. east bayshore along 63, 66. as you go inland, 60s in the tri-valley. everyone else in the low and mid 70s. now, what we are looking at around the rest of the state, we have a high fire danger in the sierra. thankfully tahoe is not in this red flag warning. it is south of there, even though it will be very breezy today. look at the temperatures, cooler with a lot of 40s, 51 in richmond, oakland and san mateo. the seven-day forecast, 70s through thursday and then '80s develop inland. >> an nba team has been find for a tweet about warriors superstar, steph curry. the philadelphia 76ers and its

they are looking for a mother accused of killing her own son. they are looking for 35-year- old samantha marino rodriguez. she is on the run. she was seen at a hotel in the denver area. the body of her seven-seve son, liam husted, was found in a rural area of las vegas on a trail off the highway. police released a digital picture of what the boy looked like, they were asking for help identifying him. that is when a family friend in san jose came forward and said the mother and son had not been seen in a week. some of their neighbors are wondering if they could have done more. saying they had seen the boy crying and wandering the property before. >> i walk outside of my apartment, in the hallway, i saw this kid crying, this little kid. he was crying really bad.

we do not know what that will look like, we do know san francisco is on track to be the first metro city in the state to reach heard immunity. with 70% of residents 12 and up fully vaccinated. experts say the city is about three weeks away from that point. taking a look at southern california, 53% of the eligible population in l.a. county is fully vaccinated. in san diego county that numbers 50%. california's target date to reach heard immunity has consistently been mid july. with vaccination rates slowing down it might take longer. >> and forms of a formal definition of 75% of people vaccinated, including children, i think it will take longer, probably towards the end of the summer. >> the state is administering about 1 million doses every five days. if that pace keeps up, california as a whole could reach heard immunity by mid- september. we are tracking the california vaccination progress with our tracker. you can see how your counties

doing by going to abc7news.com/vaccine. >> today the ceo of colonial pipeline is that the testified about last month's hack. this comes as the justice department recovered millions of dollars in pepto pharmacy. now we know that the ceo progress talking about the attack. >> reporter: the hack against colonial pipeline which supplies fuel to the east coast caused long lines and panic buying at gas stations. to regain control of the system, they paid more than $4 million of bitcoin. authorities say cyber criminals favor this currency because it is supposed to be untraceable. in this case fbi agents got what they call the private key, or password, for the currency wall. wa able to recover $2.3 million of that ransom paid. there has been an increase in these types of attacks. lastly, the nation's largest meat supply was the target for a ransom were attacked.

telegraph fire has grown to 62,000 acres. the cause of the fires are under investigation. we focus so much on our drought, we forget to talk about the rest of the west, we are going to right now. you can see the exceptional not only in nevada, utah, a whole lot of arizona, new mexico and even up in north dakota. we are not the only one suffering and that is why we are seeing the fire start in arizona where they have had hardly any monsoon season last year. hopefully that changes. every time they get a monsoon season some of that moisture makes its way up into our neighborhood. that is something to look forward to. let's talk about what is going on outside, temperatures running in the mid and upper 40s in the south bay, low in the 50s everywhere else. about the same, maybe slightly cooler than yesterday. we will stay steady through 7:00 and the temperature is cooler. we do warm a couple of degrees

during the afternoon hours unlike yesterday where we stayed steady. if you're heading out this evening 56 to 75 at 7:00, that is a good hour and a half at sunset. you can imagine how cool it will be once we get the sunset. well into the 50s. if you're out and about grab your sunglasses. it will be cool and comfortable all day for vigorous outdoor activity. if you're at home you may want to close the windows it is silly. definitely during the afternoon pollen and uv have not changed. tree pottle pollen is moderate and dominant. let's get on over to jobina to talk about the commute. >> we are starting with a live look showing off 80, everything is and pretty much everywhere else around the bay area. same thing goes for oaklfor like to talk things out.

the biggest thing is the wind advisory issued by chp. everything, that is where we have advisories. this is the golden gate bridge over to the bay bridge, to the venetian bridge, the antioch bridge. we also have one for the san mateo bridge and then all the way over to the altamont pass. there is also a project that helps to connect one bay area bart station to trains in the san joaquin county has congressional support. congressman eric swalwell requested $20 million for the project. the 42 mile seven station rail would connect the bart station to the ultimate corridor express. he says thiswirece traffic congestion particularly on interstate 580. he said it will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and get a national model of environmental sustainability. >> coming up next, nuisance next challenger steps into the recall ring. and a former bay area mayor.
