beal air force base in yuba county has destroyed a home. calfire says the burned 90% of the base and it is almost out today. >> ama and dan it was the winds they had to fight not just the fire. so let me show you the conditions right now. it is cooler 61-degree the humidity is coming up to 53%. winds are still gusty although not as strong. right now up to 11-miles-an- hour. when you take a look at the wind forecast they will continue to drop off overnight but they'll pick up tomorrow. 35 to 36-miles-an-hour. that's what makes it challenging. it will remain cool the next couple of days in the 70s and the heat comes in over the

weekend. visible satellite picture just before sunset. picked up this plume of smoke going all the way toward the northeast toward the quincy area. unfortunately because the entire state is in a drought and some areas really bad. it is going to be tough for the firefighters. ama. all right, sandhya thank you. new developments now a san jose woman accused of killing her 7-year-old son is in custody awaiting extradition. the arrest comes 11 days after the body of her son liam husted was found near a trail head. investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the killing. >> being able to have closure and identify liam was very important and now that we're able to make an arrest on this case is extremely gratifying. >> liam's father is not considered a suspect. he told police in san jose that

rodriguez left him a message she was leaving and taking her son but there was no indication he was in harms way. a beloved san francisco store clerk is partially blind after a violent stabbing by a customer. it happened in a small market in the city's lower pacific heights neighborhood. stone spoke to the victim's father. >> reporter: petroz yohanis owns the peter's market in san francisco. though he's usually smiling, this is what his recovery is looking like since a violent attack last week. >> when i heard the news i broke down and started crying because the fact he's such a good, genuine, man the whole community knows him. >> reporter: peter's daughter katerina has been trying to stay optimistic despite the fact that her father doesn't have insurance and her mother just got diagnosed with breast

cancer. early last month, a person tried to break into the store. hours later a person tried to dash into the store and was viciously attacked. >> the only thing he remembers is feeling a very sharp sharp pain in his left eye. there were a lot of blows to his head. and he's constantly complaining of these severe headaches. >> reporter: katerina confirms her dad was stabbed three times and will lose his eye because of that. peter says this is the attacker. caught on the surveillance camera leaving. police and the da aren't commenting but insiders say there are leads in the case. katerina says san francisco has changed and it is heartbreaking to see. >> we're hoping they do find the assailant and get him

behind bars as soon as possible because we don't wish this on anyone else. >> reporter: j.r. stone, abc 7 news. a major drug bust has taken a lethal am of fentanyl off san francisco's streets. san francisco police showed off what narcotic officers seized. cash, guns and drugs mostly fentanyl that was destined to the area. it was enough lethal doses to wipe out san francisco's population four times over. new development s if you get your water from east bay mud well you're going to be paying more for it. the board of directors approved a new budget that includes a 4% increase each for water and sewage service. the average bill will increase by $2.50. that money will be used for system improvement and not

felt all around the globe. tonight tech experts are weighing in on today's global outage which kept users from popular sites, apps and news outlets like amazon, reddit and many others. so what happened? here's abc 7 news reporter amanda de >> a technical took out major websites including amazon and reddit. cyber security expert and san jose state professor ahmed breaks it down. allows traffic to be kept in multiple locations in case of an overload. >> even though we have a bunch of different companies they all

rely on these content delivery networks to help lower their costs of running business. >> reporter: ensure confirms cnet was also impacted. they observed a configuration that triggered the problem. >> if you think of an hour of not being able to sell stuff. imagine how much money they lost out on or the new york times and all the advertising revenue they lost out on. but this is business, it is what it is. >> reporter: without any connection to the recent ransom ware, timing was enough to raise concern. >> we have two ransom ware attacks and then suddenly we have the internet is broken now because we can either say, people are going to think about this thinking what is going on. >> while many may rely on the internet as being all powerful. this outage shows just how

fragile the internet is. in the east bay contra costa county is getting more serious about fireworks. $100 for the first offense. 200 for the second and up to $500 per violation after that within a year. all types of fireworks are banned in the county. if you're a property owner, officials may go after you as well. richmond is reward for those who call in illegal fireworks. look at this, a man found himself stuck for two days in winery equipment right outside santa rosa. he wasn't found until this morning. that's when sonoma county sheriff deputy patrolling the

winery were looking for owner of an abandoned car. i was honored to serve as master of ceremony for those who make a difference in protecting and restoring the bay. the ceremony was held tonight in hayes mansion. guests included lieutenant governor. for 12 years now, they have identified those who have helped the estuary and its watershed. it was a lovely evening and recognized great people doing great work. but ama it was cold and windy. >> yeah, that wind just keeps battering us sandhya. >> i know.

it's just relentless. dan and ama, at least dan was prepared. and looks like most people were layered up. cooler conditions are going to continue tomorrow along with the gusty winds. temperatures on the left side is tomorrow's highs and average in the middle and indifferent. 68 tomorrow. 13 degrees below average. san jose about 10 degrees below where you should be for this time. and san francisco 5 degrees below the average of 66 degrees. i want to show you what's bringing the cooler than average conditions. it's an area of low pressure. that's what's been responsible for the cool weather. of course it does keep our fire danger down here in the bay area. not so much the case in the sierra nevada as you will notice red flag warning in effect until 11:00 p.m. tomorrow night for the sierra and for nevada as well because of the gusty winds and low humidity. right now winds have relaxed quite a bit along the lower elevations except in nevato it's 26 miles per hour. that's going to be short lived as you will notice tomorrow.

winds are light. they pick up as we head toward the afternoon and evening about 25 to 35-miles-an-hour. so be prepared for that gusty wind once again. a lovely view from our emoryville camera. visibility is good looking back toward sutro tower. limited fog, we're looking at breezy and below average with warmer weather and lighter winds for those of you waiting for that for the end of the workweek. your temperatures right now in the 40s, 50s by morning you will need a jacket or a sweater because it is definitely going to be on the cool side. low 40s to low 50s a combination of patches of fog and higher clouds tomorrow morning. then tomorrow afternoon, it is going to be another breezy one. locally gusty near the coast. 61 in the city. 58 in half-moon bay. upper 60s livermore, san jose, napa, san rafael. 68 in santa rosa. 63 in oakland, 72 degrees in fairfield. i mean these temperatures are nowhere near where we should be for this time of year.
