they're going to need the cities to do that. the agency says that the county needs them. the situation here is dire. reporting live in san jose, abc7 news. >> amy, thank you. in the north bay the city of sonoma declared a stage one shortage. they're asking people to voluntarily reduce water usage. eliminating any sprinkler over spray or watering, and running the washer and drier and dishwasher when they're full. this saturday they're giving a free drought kit at city hall while supplyings last. er nos and timer

clinical trials for younger children. this is a two year study. >> kids will get the vaccine, and a second group will get salt water. how this is going to work. >> thank you. children ages 5 to 1 1 will get the first doses of theed on examining the response to the vaccine and verifying if a lower dosage is producing a immunity. there's ten micrograms in each dose oppose today the 30 micrograms that others resleeved. they enrolled 75 children in the trial. >> my arm feels a little bit heavy, but i don't feel like sick or anything. >> what we're seeing with the new variance raises concerns in recognizing while children in general do quiet well with this virus, they can spread it to others that don't. vaccinating children may be an important part of the way that we try to knock this out for good.

>> reporter: 72-year-old peter owns the franklin market in san francisco. while he is usually smiling, this is what his recovery looks like after a violent attack last week. >> when i heard that news, i broke down and started to cry because the fact that he is such a good genuine, kind, descent man. >> reporter: while there's tears, they're trying to remain optimistic despite the fact that her father does not have health insurance, and her mother just got diagnosed with breast cancer. early last wednesday, someone tried to unsuccessfully break in to the store. hours later a man that wanted to use the bathroom, came in and then pushed peter and then attacked. >> my dad is not aware as to when the weapon was pulled, but he -- the only thing that he remembers is feeling a very

sharp pain pain in his left eye. there's a lot of blows to his head, and he is constantly complaining of severe headaches. >> reporter: she confirms that her dad was stabbed three times, and once in the left eye. he will lose the eye because of that. this is the attacker caught on the camera leaving. the police and da are not commenting, but there's leads in the case. san francisco has chanced, and it's heartbreaking to see. >> we're hoping that they do finds him and get him behind bars as soon as possible. we don't wish this on anything else. >> reporter: j.r. stone abc news. >> reports of violent crime are starting to climb. a mom was robbed at gun point in her garage with her husband and children sleeping in the car.

yes, they're one of five families living off 24th street and saying that they're living the city now. they're scared to pull in their own garage. on a recent saturday night, they pull in to her driveway. seconds later maggie says that a young man wearing a surgical mask walk in to her garage and pointed a gun at her face. >> i freaked out and started to shake. /fumbled through the bag. we're going to live in fear and watching the surrounding when ever you come home, seems like a really stressful way to live. >> according to sfp data, there's 953 robberies reported across the city since january. that's a 14% decrease from this time last year. police say that crime is starting to pick back up. robberies are increasing in many areas especially in the

mission, bay view and tenderloin districts. >> thank you. well, a split second decision from the officers saved a choking babies life. look at this. the dashcam video shows the moments that officers casey and jed cato respond today the 911 call of a baby choking inside of the minivan. the mom says that the baby was choking on the skin of a cherry. >> i did five or six back blows. on the sixth one when i struck him between the shoulder blades, i heard that. that's just pure relief. i knew that i did it right. >> after the cherry got out, an ambulance arrived and rushed the baby to the hospital, and the child is expected to be okay. i have a story that's not traumatizing. another disney theme park is about to reopen.

looking south bound, and the traffic is picking up. we will talk to joe in a little bit about that. you can see just a few clouds off in the horizon. it's sunny and breezy today. the coolest average, and that's going follow with the coolest night, and then we wille some summer clouds, morning, afternoon, sunshine. the warmth especially inland through the weekend. today there's a hard time of finding the warmth. everybody else around 65 to 69 in the south bay. 63 to 66en the peninsula today. over on the coast, how about upper 50s and low 60s in downtown and south san francisco. temperatures look at this. the only clever dale makes it in to 70s in the north bay valley today. along the shore is 62 at richmond and then oakland and then hashing lease lees is the warm spot. look at 60s inrand. barely some 70s out near the delta and 71 in

antioch. looking around the state, we have the temperatures. look at this. remember that we were in the hundreds a couple of weeks ago. we have the upper 70s, and still have the fire threat for 12 hours today. there's a high fire danger and then down to pearsonville. that's a red flag warning. that's too dry and breezy up there. this is a look at tonight. a whole lot of 40s out there and then the handful of 50s there. tomorrow afternoon after that crisp morning, we warm about four to six degrees and then friday we're finally back to average and then mid-70s around the bay, and then mid-eat for the weekend. >> mike, thank you. the new series that everyone is talking about dropped on disney plus today. it could be a comedy. it really straddles the line. >> it's so intense and has an inflated since of importance.

orly before 9:00 a.m. the water is dire, a conserve water. they do not have the authority to put in place. that's up to the cities. the district is going vote on whether to recommend the restrictions. the hope is that this is going to give the cities a template to follow, so that everyone has the same rules. they want to see the enforcement. there's regular strict enforcement. the district says that this is an emergency that water supplies are in serious jeopardy. reporting live with abc7 news. >> thank you, amy. sonoma county is holding a briefing today on how leader and cal fire is preparing for wildfire season. this is as officials display just how extreme the fire danger is. the county fire protection district unveiled a new map, and the areas that you see in the red represent the highest danger areas along the border with

san francisco. we have got mid to upper 50s along the north bay coast we can only get to 66 to 72 degrees. look at next week we're pretty close, and look at the mid to upper 90s on wednesday and thursday. i sure hope that the forecast changes by then. temperatures tonight for most of us back in the 40s. look at the 7-day forecast. there's a 4-degree warming trend tomorrow, and by the time we get to saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday, 60s at the coast and mid-70s and 80s inland. that's where we should be. >> mike, thank you. in the east bay, the oakland zoo wants the tree trimmings. many animals like the eat that'sty leaves and tree branches. if you're clearing out the dead and over hanging
