getting picked up but you can see the clear sky and that is san rafael where it is 60, 62 in oakland, look at that gorgeous shot from walnut creek upper 50s, santa rosa and nevada with 63 in concorde, it is much milder this morning call it muggy. usually we see dew points in the 40s or upper 50s and that means there is a lot of this moisture in the atmosphere. so look for that fog to clear to the coast, 70s to 80s today around the bay and inland so we are warming up a bit but it's going to stay humid over the weekend. then we are talking about much warmer weather headed our way next week. details in a few minutes. thank you lisa. developing news on a chaotic scene in the south bay overnight, a pickup truck plowing into a popular sports bar doing some deadly damage. this happened at the agave a sports bar and grill in the willow glen area around 9:30 pm, one witness had to dodge the truck and told us the white pickup first reversed into the

back outside wall of the bar then careened off the fence and kept reversing into a group of people on the back patio bar. police found three people injured, video showed first responders doing all that they could to save one person but sadly that person has died at the hospital. as for the driver the san jose police say the woman behind the wheel was arrested and is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. we will keep you posted on that story. the in the meantime and just three days the state will fully reopen and this morning we're finally getting some clarity from cal/osha unmasking rules for california workplaces. abc7 reporter amanda del castillo details what to expect from the agency. >> reporter: a second attempt to determine who is wearing a mask and who is not in california workplaces, this 30 page document released friday filled with red actions by cal/osha, many changes meant to align with cdc guidelines.

bottom line, those who are fully vaccinated won't have to wear a mask indoors at work or be required to practice social distancing. this development comes on the same day gov. gavin newsom signed two executive orders, one eliminating the states colored tier system next tuesday. >> dozens and dozens of executive orders with literally hundreds of provisions will begin to wind down in an orderly manner over the course of the next days, weeks and months. >> reporter: all signs pointing toward releasing the state from most pandemic restrictions, taking a closer look at cal/osha's updated draft, it puts the responsibility on employers to provide to unvaccinated workers. those who are not vaccinated are required to wear a mask whenever indoors at work with few exceptions, when alone in a room or vehicle, while eating or drinking provided employees are at least 6 feet apart, or if they cannot wear face coverings due to a medical or mental health condition or disability.

these changes come after backlash led cal/osha board members to drop a controversial rule at a recent meeting. the rule said vaccinated workers would still be required to wear masks if anyone in the same room was unvaccinated. >> i was very pleased to see them resend earlier this week their previous vote so as i said a week ago, we will get where we need to go and i have all the confidence in the world we will get there. >> reporter: it is unclear exactly when we will get there, the state will fully reopen on the 15th, cal/osha will vote on updates two days later on the 17th and if changes pass they won't take effect until the 28th. we reached out to the governor's press office asking if he is considering mandating the changes sooner. a spokesperson only responded by saying in part we cannot speculate as to the board's upcoming vote that we will continue to work with workers, employers and regulators to transition to a full and safe reopening come june 15. i'm amanda del castillo, abc7

news. san francisco will be stricter than the state when it comes to indoor events with more than 15, excuse me 5000 people. if organizers of events take people's word at being vaccinated than everyone must wear a mask but if they want to require proof of vaccination or a negative covid test than people who have been vaccinated will not have to mask up. employees at hospitals, skilled nursing homes, residential care facilities, shelters and jails will have to prove they've been vaccinated after a vaccine has been fully approved by the fda. while san francisco was the first major u. s. city to get one shot into the arms of 80% of its eligible residents. mayor london breed tweeted the news saying also that nearly 70% in the city are fully vaccinated. you will be seeing a seeing professional fireworks show in the san francisco sky this year for fourth of july assuming it's not too foggy.

activities and i think getting the vaccine obviously it will be safer to hang out with your friends and go out. >> 17 winning $50,000, lucky her. on june 15 there will be one more drawing in 10 people will win 1 1/2 million dollars each. closer to home another incentive to get vaccinated, you get to go to an a's baseball game for free. starting monday the team will be administering vaccines on game days to anyone who wants one at the coliseum's east side club. if you get vaccinated there you will get to game tickets, no health insurance is needed. this is part of major league baseball's vaccinate at the plate program with incentives for all 30 teams. plans for the giants will be released soon. as the drought crisis work ends healdsburg is tightening water restrictions. the city council declared a stage iii drought emergency effective immediately, the use of sprinklers and drip irrigation is band. the goal is to reduce water use citywide by

40%. violators could face $1000 per day in fines. happening today marin county and the city of sonoma are putting together free water saving toolkits to help conserve during this drought. from 9 am to 1 pm today while supplies last you can walk up or drive-through to any of these locations on your screen and they will give out water saving kits with things like buckets to catch reusable water, a low-flow shower nozzle and timer and self closing garden hose nozzles. fire danger will be high over the next week as a heat wave blankets much of the state . the state power grid operator tweeted a warning saying while no outages or power disruptions are anticipated the heat could create possible stress grid conditions. thinking about that, it is never too early to make sure you and your family are ready for wildfire season. today firefighters and parts of the north bay are putting on a voluntary emergency fire drill.

a volunteer collecting signatures to recall three members of the san francisco school board is talking to abc7 after someone took pages of signatures before giving them back. this comes as san francisco police announced they are investigating the incident. abc7 news reporter melanie woodrow has the story. >> reporter: kit lam was collecting signatures for a petition to recall three san francisco school board members sunday, may 30 when a man sf pd is not naming offered to sign the petition, then took

the clip board with other people's signatures and addresses. a witness shared video she recorded with abc7 news. >> i saw you. >> i was shocked and angry at the same time. >> reporter: they followed the man. >> i couldn't believe it because i saw him toss the clip board underneath the car. >> reporter: another person spotted the clipboard underneath the car. >> and i realized some of the petition are still missing. >> where is the other one? >> reporter: the man took the other signatures out of the back of his jeans. >> i was just furious, why was someone doing this? why? >> stop, you're breaking the law ! >> there is a misconception that asian immigrants do not speak up. and i think it's wrong. >> reporter: kit lam reported

the incident to sf pd. >> our investigators who are diligently working on the case are gathering information and have leads that they are following up on. >> reporter: the man indeed his pockets saying he didn't have any more. >> what is your name sir? >> reporter: kit lam says he hopes they make an arrest. sf pd says that because signatures -- melanie woodrow, abc7 news. and anniversary trip took a heartbreaking turn for a couple visiting san francisco, their little dog was stolen from their car in a smash and grab your fisherman's worth, wharf. >> reporter: it was their 12 year anniversary and instead of looking at photos of their trip to san francisco, -- and -- are looking back at photos of their dog leo hoping to see him

again. >> it was just so windy and win had gone on more than seven hours of tours. >> we decided to leave him in the car inside his carrier bag and we put him in the bottom of the seat and he just sleeps there. >> reporter: an hour later they walked back to the car and noticed leo's blanket on the sidewalk. >> my heart just plummeted. i literally feel like a part of my heart is gone. >> reporter: they believe thieves saw their luggage in the back of their vehicle and took leo as he began barking trying to protect their belongings. now what is left is broken glass. the latest crime data released from san francisco police shows an uptick in thefts from vehicles, from april 2022 april 2021 an increase of 57%. mostly locals are the ones aware of this. did you leave anything in your car during your time here? >> yes, well luckily in a parking garage and i do have stuff.

>> reporter: sf pd investigators are asking the public to help reunite leo with his family. the 10-year-old yorky has a green mark on his lower extremities. and this is the message to the thieves. >> i don't care. i don't care about the circumstances, i just want leo back. >> reporter: in san francisco, -- for abc7 news. the peninsula this weekend, a two-mile stretch of highway 101 in palo alto will be fully closed for construction work. the closure is to allow for a new bicycle pedestrian bridge to be installed and that means both southbound and northbound lanes between san antonio and embarcadero roads will be closed from 1:30 am to 6 am tomorrow. happening today bart is adding 16 trips to saturday service. most trips will serve the pleasant hill corridor which is one of the most used lines. there will be one additional trip to and from sfo.

bart says ridership has increased on saturdays faster than weekdays so they are trying to keep up with demand. today bart is also reopening all station entrances that were closed last october because of low ridership. the giants are hosting a pair of pride movie nights at oracle park. abc7 news was there for the opening festivities, last nights movie was the musical in the heights and tonight they are showing everybody is talking about jamie. tickets start at $25 and the proceeds will benefit san francisco pride. in the east bay the oakland a's celebrated pride night renaming it after glenn burke the first openly player in mlb history. burke grew up in the east bay and came up with the dodgers in the late 70s before being traded to the a's. he passed away in 1995 due to aids complications. burke's family was in attendance last night to watch the a's take on the royals. we put together a history

of pride month and you can find it by going to the website, abc7 news.com/ pride. all right lisa, it's kind of gray this morning. >> it is and we even have a good deal of drizzle along the shoreline up to the north of us and it is raining around crescent city. we are certainly going to see a change in the weather today for not only a little less of a breeze but a warming trend and the humidity is high. we got a system north of us taking all that moisture away from the bay area but it but produced a healthy marine layer and here is a look at mount tam and underneath that you might need wipers if you're headed to the shoreline. looking at the numbers it is pretty mild from 60 downtown to 62 in oakland, san jose 62, and look at our tower cam

58 in santa rosa and 57 in novato, 61 in fairfield, concorde at 63 in livermore at 61. here is a look at the sunshine and a beautiful view of san jose and a lot of sunshine today. maybe a few high clouds in some mid-level clouds but overall the clouds retreat and we will have a sunny and warm day inland but that humidity will be with us today, tomorrow and looking at a summer sizzle inland next week. here is a look at the fog, it recruits, it retreats to the shoreline but then it will return tonight early sunday morning and then once again we will look for a sunny afternoon with temperatures really wide-ranging and pretty seasonal. 60s to 80s but we will continue to see changes as we get toward the early part of the week where the numbers will be a little bit warmer as we get into your tuesday. here is a look at sunday, tomorrow, where numbers will be similar.

60s and 70s and 80s but by wednesday look at the jump are talking 80s in oakland but it is the upper 90s to 100b0 fo the inland valleys even around 90 in san jose. but by thursday we are going to keep the cool weather right at the coast but look how that heat wants to build westward. even into parts of marin county are going to be pretty warm as well as santa clara san francisco looks comfortable as well as the shoreline. as for today we are back to a pretty nice day although you will notice that it's going to feel a little muggy out there. 76 in richmond, 81 in napa with 80 in santa rosa and san jose, 83 in livermore and the accuweather 7-day forecast shows it pretty humid for us rounding out the weekend tomorrow. then as we look at the beginning of the week it's nice but middle of the week the heat is on inland. >> okay we will have to be careful.

as the pandemic starts to ease workers are returning to offices but a shortage of childcare workers is having a major impact on parents. a new study out of uc berkeley found that in just the first six month of the pandemic last year the industry shrank by 20%. that is nearly 200,000 childcare workers losing their jobs and with a median national salary of about $24,000 employers are finding it hard to attract new workers. >> funding is the answer to ensure affordable or free access to early care and education for families and to ensure livable wages for the early care and education workers. >> employers are finding it hard to attract workers, there is some help on the way though. part of pres. biden's american rescue plan includes $39 billion for childcare centers. speaking of childcare, check out this cute moment in washington d.c., vice president kamala harris was visiting students at an early childhood education center when one of the kids made a comment about liking her american flag pin. the vice president quickly took it off and gave it to the child showing him the right place to where it, right above his heart.

oakland, mountain view and san jose. so you are noticing the warm up there and the sunshine here with upper 50s to low 60s in the inland valleys and it's all about the dew points this morning that are allowing for temperatures anywhere from 10 to 13b0 warmer. as we look at the dew points they are about 10b0 higher than they normally are so that means it is muggier out there and it's going to stay that way as temperatures climbed throughout the day. we will see some mid 80s inland with low 70s in the east bay, the fog will keep us cool at the coast and we will talk about a pleasant sunday before the heat returns for parts of the bay area next week. breaking news, 13 people have been shot in downtown austin texas, police say the gunman is on the loose. shots rang into a large crowd on sixth street which is the entertainment district in town there, the police chief says 911 calls came in just before midnight hour time, two of the 13 people are fighting for their lives in critical condition.

the main focus is on finding the suspect who got away. >> what we have seen in recent months and over the last ye ye or so is an increase in gun violence so this is just emblematic of that, it continues. >> police say there is limited information on the suspect at this point and it's not clear what led to the gunfire but we will update you as soon as we learn more. this morning new fears about the delta variant first spotted in india that has now been detected in 29 states including california and it is highly transmissible. the pfizer vaccine is 88% effective against it after two doses but just 33% after one dose. christine sloan has more on this variant. >> reporter: the highly transmissible delta variant first spotted in india tightening its grip on the uk. where the strain now makes up 90% of new

months ago his life upside down. he was given a diagnosis of hodgkin's lymphoma but even through chemotherapy he kept coming back to his training. >> i just took it by day by day the beginning it was pretty rough i was going through treatment it was rough but it was also good because it gave me something, it gave me something to take my mind off of the pain i was feeling. >> also helping him get through those tough times, his wife kramer and his two young children. now he is passed the cancer and on his way to serve as a sacramento firefighter. it was 50 years ago native americans were forced from their 19 month long occupation of alcatraz island. the so-called tribe of all nations took over the day, the abandoned prison. though the occupation ended it helped shape public policy for decades. we have a sneak peek of the i- team , the abc7 original escape to alcatraz telling the

welcome back, here is a live look from the santa cruz camera. a nice calm morning at the beach without a lot of people, a little chilly out there but it's going to warm up in coming days. we will talk about that in a minute but meantime in san helena we have a sign of the times, with the land dry ended route across the street, across the state there is a new feeling akin to survivalism. >> reporter: in napa county a gathering that had nothing to do with wine tasting, instead they are worried about the coming fire season. >> just like everybody else. >> reporter: johnny white manages vineyards where a local insurance company sponsored a fire fair though there was nothing festive about the event. it featured a showcase of proactive fire prevention products assuming we have the water for them. >> if we are the first one to have a fire and there's nothing else going on in the state we are good. there's plenty of equipment. if we are third on the list we are on our own. >> so why in napa county?

layer pulling away a little from the coast early afternoon tomorrow. we will have 60s at the coast and low 70s in oakland as well as 80s arriving inland on wednesday where we've got a huge warm up, and hundreds will begin invading the valleys. the delta coming in from sacramento and getting into thursday they get even further westford but they're going to have to halt because we have an onshore flow that will keep temperatures in the 60s along the coast but even parts of the bayshore will be warming into the 80s there at hayward, how about some upper 80s for you on thursday. it's a good 10b0 jump getting into the middle of next week along the bay but as for today we look for temperatures near average with 73 in oakland, mid 70s in san mateo, 80s in san rafael as well as san jose.
