moving forward. finding solutions. this is abc7 news. tonight, we learning new details about a fatal crash at a san jose outdoor dining space. the manager of the bar describing the moment before the crash. good evening. thank you so much for being here. i am julian glover. you are watching transfer here on abc7 , who live in wherever you stream. the crash killed a woman and left to men with non-life- threatening injuries. luz pena spoke to the bar manager and the suspect the drivers employer. >> reporter: agonizing moments at this san jose bar last night around nine a clock p.m. a woman with killed by a suspected impaired driver who plowed cup truck into a group of customers at a sports bar and grill. >> she says she was lucky. she was about four feet from the crash and survived thanks to her friend who pulled her away as the vehicle sped up behind her. >> reporter: san jose police arrested alex marino, booked

and san jose county jail for felony dui and gross vehicular manslaughter. according to the bars manager, the suspect sat in his vehicle for about 30 minutes before putting the car in reverse and hitting at least three people. she says they were about 30 customers in this other area. >> the manager was still shaken and refused to speak on camera but said marino tried stiffly after the crash. security guards held him down for 15 minutes. the woman passenger in the vehicle wasn't injured. the pickup truck had a side logo from bay area construction company qac. tonight, qvc's ceo confirmed to abc7 news that marino is a field superintendent and said in part, "this is really devastating news. to the two men that were also injured, our feelings are with them in this time as well. we have a long-standing policy that our company vehicles are limited to use during work hours to and from the employees

job site only. qvc confirming marino shouldn't have been driving a company vehicle during off hours. " san jose police have not identified the victim of this crash. a bar manager said the woman was at a bar visiting friends and family in the bay area. in san jose, luz pena, abc7 news. in the east bay, firefighters have contained a three alarm fire at an oakland recycling plant. you may have seen this if you are out in the air get this afternoon. it happened at the california waste solutions recycling center near 10th and pine street. two buildings caught on fire but only one was significantly damaged. officials say piles of debris at the yard also caught on fire. >> oh my god! yeah! i don't want her to be breathing all of this stuff and coming here. if you look at the side of the house you can see everything that is inside of the house. >> it is real bad.

>> if he was actually reported smelling the smoke as far east in the city as lake merritt. crews are stay at the scene into the night. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. here at abc7 we are counting down the days to california's reopening. you can see our actual countdown clock on your screen. governor gavin newsom has cleared the way for everything to fully reopen this coming tuesday june 15th. we are days away. the impact reopening is having with the economy something with focus on as our work to building a better bay area. the rideshare industry is rebounding as people get out but it is facing some struggles right now. there is a driver shortage and higher prices to match. j.r. stone talked with writers, drivers and the experts on how long this may sticsticsticsticsc uber, lyft, taxi. it used to be obvious and which one was cheaper but not anymore. is the met the demand for all three is rising -- >> we are getting back to normal. >> reporter: getting back to normal means people want to go places and get rights to those places. >> we have a large demand of rights but a small supply of drivers right now. >> reporter: larry is a uber and lyft driver who says the last two months have been really good to him. >> i started driving and i made big money. >> reporter: glance at the surcharges in parts of the bay area and you can see drivers are in hot demand. that is especially in the east and south base. until there are more drivers, writers will likely continue to pay. >> it is much, much more expensive. >> my house is about a mile and a half to her. it is like a $30 uber. >> mind blowing compared to what it used to be. >> my friend came to visit from connecticut and she arrived last night. uber cost was $70. >> it was cheaper to take a regular taxi cab and faster.

>> reporter: some drivers have opted to do food delivery instead. others have found new jobs and some continue to take unemployment instead of coming back. not those like our friend larry who says he sees the demand and is helping mediate.helping medi. it is up in the air as to how long these higher rideshare prices will last. experts we talked with believe at least three months and possibly under unemployment benefits and for some some >> that is something to keep in mind. if you take bart, planning your weekend ride got a whole it easier. today, bart the saturday schedule on the busiest lines. also, all of the entrances that were temporarily closed they are open at this point. weekend ridership has increased 27% and is recovering at a faster rate than weekdays which saw an 80% increase. by the end of august, bart service will be back to normal. as we approach reopening, counties are trying to vaccinate everyone they can. a different kind of outreach effort took place in the

you can also get vaccination information on how to find appointments. in the east bay, a 12-year- old girl has been arrested following several small grass fires yesterday in the berkeley hills. when resident told abc7 news saw a fire in his backyard and quickly put it out with a hose but reignited a couple of hours later and spread to a shadow that caused an explosion. you can see the damage left behind. the flames then spread to the garage doing substantial damage. thankfully, no one was hurt during any of these fires. in the north bay, residence are preparing for the worst. firefighters are running voluntary evacuation drills.evai cornell bernard was in mill valley and has thisthisthisthis barbara lockhart shows us her emergency go back.go back.g. >> it will charge your cell phone, a tablet. >> she grabbed her back after she and hundreds of her neighbors that this alert message on their smart phones. >> this is only a drill.

today president joe biden announced he will be signing a bill dedicating the nightclub as a national memorial. in the north bay, and what is believed to be the first in the bay area water use will be monitored and people could face some fines if they exceed a new limit. the city ordering residents and businesses to stop watering lawns and turnoff irrigati systems washing cars, hosing down driveways and using power washers. all of that is now off-limits to help with the effort dillsburg is rolling out a program to provide recycled water to residents. >> i think we are ahead of many of our neighbors. a part of that is a function of where we are on the upper side of the russian river. things are little more dire in some other parts. >> i am a little surprised people have been really embracing this and not just being angry they can't access water. i think people understand we really need to get this donthisn

with us for weeks. we will have it tomorrow but temperatures stay pretty comfortable until later in the forecast. that is hot weather beginning to move in and lingering for a couple of days. tonight we have got some fog. we have the marine layer. is rolling in from the coast. you can barely see the top of salesforce tower. in this fog we will have some june gloom but it will burn off by the later morning hours. the fog is dense in spots. live doppler seven visibility mode showing half moon bay. especially first thing tomorrow morning not only some dense pockets of fog but even some coastal drizzle is very likely. did you notice the humidity? dew points they measure how much moisture is in the atmosphere. it tells you how comfortable you are. when these numbers rise into the 50s like they are especially into the upper 50s we get the muggy feeling. this air mass will sit with us tomorrow. tomorrow is another muggy

dealing day. with the increased humidity it is keeping temperatures a little elevated. it is a pretty warm night and a lot of the spots. 62 in santa rosa. the city at 58 with the fog overhead. here is live doppler seven along with the satellite. we are tracking the storm system in the pacific northwest. it is not going to bring if any rainfall things to the area blocking any moisture moving in. even the southwesterly wind adding the increased humidity over the weekend. by early parts of next week, the ridge of high pressure is going to bring hot temperatures to several states including california. tomorrow, it is all about the marine layer. have the coastal cloud cover. the fog around the bay shoreline. much of the fog in the east bay and the south bay is out of here. it is still pretty foggy along the coastline. by the afternoon we will have a lot of sunshine. overnight where tracking the increasing marine layer.

unruly passenger made terroristic threats and assaulted two flight attendants. let's walk you through what is happening. the video was shot on that flight last night in route from los angeles to atlanta. you can see several men pinning him to the ground while he kicks and screams for help. please have identified the suspect as an off-duty delta flight attendant. officials say duncan said he was going to take that plane down. >> the perpetrator was on the intercom and telling passengers to return to their seat because oxygen masks were going to be required. >> the plane landed in oklahoma city where he was put in custody and taken to the hospital. the federal aviation administration put out data on passenger incidence. they say there have been nearly 3000 reports of unruly behavior of passengers since the start of this year. about 2200 of the reported incidents were about passengers refusing to comply with the
