we have been counting down to june 15, the day the governor says the state economy will fully reopen and many restrictions will go away. now we are just hours away. we are live in san mateo county where one town is planning a party. >> reporter: they are going to have a party right here and celebrate first responders, the medical community and all of the hard work they've done over the past year, and the fact that we all get to ditch our masks tomorrow. that will take place here while businesses are preparing to open at full capacity tomorrow. the barrel room in san francisco are opening for the first time since march 2020. they are retraining their staff on the basics like food service and wine pairings. >> i am feeling excited, i am feeling nervous. i am feeling like most of our staff are really excited.

we are in the financial district. most of the offices still are not open. we are looking forward to a pretty slow summer. that is good for us to get back into the groove. >> starting tomorrow the state will stop using the color-coded covid. system and will drop facemask restrictions in most cases for early vaccinated people. social distancing requirements will be lifted. for now osha is requiring a mask, but will revisit that later this week. the party is set to be started at 11:00 tomorrow morning. they will have barbecue and live music. a festive moment as we turn the corner tomorrow. governor newsom will be in san francisco today gearing up for the state reopening by touting a brand-new vaccine incentive call california dream vacations. we are not exactly sure what the details are. we know it has something to do

jumpstarting the state travel and tourism industry. the live stream start this morning. you can watch on abc7news.com or your free abc7 news app. a fourth covid-19 vaccine could be coming soon. novax is planning to file for emergency use authorization. the company just released results. they say the vaccine is 100% effective in preventing moderate or severe disease. it was highly effective against the current variance. nearly 30,000 people were enrolled in a trial. once approved, they expect to make 150 million doses per month by the end of the year. doctors are urging anyone who hasn't been vaccinated to book an appointment as soon as possible. scientist are concerned about a new variant already circulating in the bay area. we explain what it means for people who have and have not received their shot.

this fire that broke out at the national hotel on market street. you can see the flames and smoke coming from the back of the building late last night. out on market a person got video of a cloud of smoke drifting down the street. firefighters evacuated the building and rescued 80 people and two dogs. the supervisor tweeted the old tell -- hotel offers housing to people facing homelessness. >> everything was covered with smoke. i couldn't even see out of the window. i thought what's going on? >> the red cross called in to help. the cause is under investigation. the building is next to act stray hand theater. that was not damaged. store a dog because goes is taken over. the animals are working on chomping through the weeds and fox sales at the dog park.
