vallejo where investigators will be back out this morning. >> reporter: good morning. you can still smell fire in this neighborhood, and behind me, there is one firefighter just to keep everybody feeling safe. he is here to watch and make sure everything is okay. the homes look okay. you can't see damage. it happened in the back of the home. let's go to the video from yesterday. the home that had the most damage had an elderly woman that suffered from smoke inhalation. she is expected to be okay. the fire started between 5:00 yesterday afternoon near six flags in vallejo. it was on a hillside. it spread up to homes and towards the backs of the homes. porches, and patios, and backyards. the fire department said eight

homes have damage, and that three of those have significant damage. some neighbors jumped into action and grabbed garden hoses and tools and did what they could to save the homes. >> my husband ran across the street to her house and got up on the roof and started watering. my husband did really well because he savored their house because flames were coming up in the guard. >> firefighters don't know the cause of the fire but residents said they have been concerned about the dry brush. today, the heat wave started. one advantage today is we want to have the winds of yesterday that helped push the fire, but it will be a hot and dry day. firefighters say we all need to be on alert. amy hollyfield, abc7 news. more on that. pg&e is one of customers to be prepared for possible power outages. they said they have no plans for a public safety shut off but

amy hollyfield is live in vallejo. >> reporter: it is calm and cool now but there is a firefighters stationed in this neighborhood in case as the heat wave is expected to hit us today. one elderly woman was taken to the hospital. her home suffered the most damage. she suffered from smoke inhalation be okay. no one else was hurt. firefighters say eight homes were damaged and three had significant damage. the fire burned the back yards at the homes and patios and fences. it creeped up from a hillside behind the homes. residents jumped into action to stop the fire. >> the fire was coming from the west and the wind was blowing towards the east. it was swirling and coming up and over the railing of the house. i grabbed the water hose and started wetting everything down with his neighbor.
