compressed. it's produce drizzle. had to use my wipers but to the north that blue, you see off shore, you can see the clouds going up and over that area of high pressure that will dominate much the pacific northwest and parts of our extreme inland communities. if we look at our advisories here you can see up toward wilets we are under a heat advisory from 2:00 to 9:00 on tuesday. excessive heat warning for lake county around lake port and clear lake as well as hidden valley lake. these communities could see temperatures as hot as 108 degrees right on through tuesday. there is a risk of heat related illness. you know the on shore flow will keep the rest of us comfortable throughout much of 50's to near 60. numbers will warm will talk about particulars but we have the wide range from the coast to the inland valleys. extreme heat in the pacific

northwest is melting snow and ice on mount ranier in washington state. it has 25 major glaciers. higher elevations won't be able to escape this weekend's historic and life threatening heat wave. the national weather service said several cities will break heat records this weekend. many people in seattle and portland are rushing to find ac's. >> you know right now i'm currently out looking for portable air conditioning units. feels like i have been to hardware stores. >> in fact seattle is the least air conditioned metro area in the united states. just out of san francisco. beat the heat by tracking temperatures any time. our live temperature tracker is in the weather tracker center of our co tv rnappsal ywt passenger pounded on aycock pit

cockpit door and tried to get in. after that he jumped out onto the emergency slide and onto the tarmac. skywest said it happened as the plane was taxiing to the runway for a flight so salt lake city. the man was taken into custody, treated for injuries and taken to a hospital. the plane was able to go back to the gate. nobody else was hurt. and thursday night a driver smashed through a gate on lax and led police on a chase over two runways. police cornered the vehicle and took that man into custody. let's get over to miami now. the search for survivors continues this morning in surfside florida where a condo tower collapsed. crews have been working around the clock since the building came down on thursday morning. 159 people remain unaccounted for.

the county confirms that four people as of now they know, are dead. the cause of the collapse is still a mystery this morning. coming up at 5:30 we will bring you a live report. we have new information about a report that came out last night about the structure of this building. we will have a back here, a dead whale is stuck on a rocky beach next to a richmond neighborhood. the gray whale carcass washed on shore thursday. kate larson spoke to neighbors about this very large and smelly problem. >> its been floating around the bay for a month. >> it just stopped us. >> it first washed on shore in marin and this week the tide brought it to the shoreline. it's body now hidden along the rocks. >> kind of sad. >> the whale is one of 14 gray whales that have turned up dead in the

this year. >> i have never seen a whale close up even though it's not alive. >> an unusual mortality event. that's what its being called. >> to see a wild creature like that. it does take us out of ourselves and realize that it's just not human beings. >> the marine mammal has not examined this whale but said malnutrition and ship strikes are the most common causes of death. john is a supervisor. he said that the marine mammal system don't think towing it is an option. >> they believe the best thing is for the whale to

today because tomorrow will get into cooling. as we look outside and check out live doppler 7 you will notice there is fog around the bay and that's due do a compressed marine layer. it's allowing for some mist and drizzle to arrive along the coastline. starting out cloudy many many spots and this area of high pressure to the north of us is that ridge that is allowing for the heat in the pacific northwest all the way down toward northern california and the inland valleys. right now it's 58 in heyward. 59 in union city with upper 50's oakland, little fog at the coast with visibility reduced but its that mist and drizzle that may catch you off guard this morning. 55nevado and san francisco. here is a live look from mount tam. looking at highlights then this

morning we will have the gray sky and some of the damp weather at the coast. otherwise the clouds lift. we are heating up inland this afternoon and then it's really going to only be a minor event for most of us because we will begin to cooldown tomorrow as a low clouds and fog become more generous as the area of low pressure nudges in to the pacific northwest. i want to show you all the watches and warnings across the west coast. unbelievable. as we get into your saturday 100 in sacramento. 113 in redding and up to 107 in portland. along the coast it's comfortable. our low clouds, our fog, our air conditioning. mother nature allowing for the coastal sea breeze again today. this is four and 5:00 in the afternoon. maybe a couple degrees warmer than and even deeper deck of low clouds and fog for your sunday into sunday afternoon and that will aid in our cooling. we will perhaps reach maybe 100 as we get far north

into sonoma county. the low clouds and fog as they expand will help us cool off tomorrow -- as tomorrow. here is a look at your sunday with mid-80s's around concord and low 90's by antioch. you will notice not a big deal as we get into the second half of your weekend. you can see up through clear lake it still remains quite warm and the heat warnings and advisories taking you through tuesday in some of these areas to lake county. here is monday. looking kind of typical around the bay and into your tuesday. notice we hold onto the heat inland but 60's and 70's from the bayshore to the coast. 74 today san mateo and oakland. look for 90 up toward santa rosa. upper 90's in antioch. there's the heat. you notice the darker shades well to the north. the accuweather seven day forecast. while we warm up today, particularly inland you will notice it'll cool off tomorrow. we will see temperatures come up just a little bit around the bay but that

lawmakers would extend california's eviction moratorium through september. it would also play landlords 100% of unpaid rent. >> anyone that's been impacted by this pandemic and cannot pay rent, 100% of that will be paid for. not 80%, 100% will be paid for. >> the package amounts to one of the most generous in the country and would reimburse landlords for missed utility bills also. city and county relief programs could also see a boost but not everybody is thrilled with the plan. the california apartment association which represents landlords panned the extension and said in a statement it is frustrating that the state of california and local governments have not quickly dispersed funds to those in need, especially to mom and pop rental housing provider who have seen no rent but must still pay the mortgage, maintenance, insurance and other expenses. the announcement came as he

thank you for that live report. so many of these families how this collapse happened. this morning we are also learning some of the history of this building. victor has those details. >> the cause of the condo's partial collapse remains a complete mystery. authorities searching for clues in to why part of the 12 story building came down considering every possibility. >> further investigation will be very critical to understand what was at the root of this. >> one man saying that his mother said she heard creaking noises just a day before the collapse. >> she just told me she woke up around three or four in the morning and had heard creaking noises. they were loud enough to wake her up but that was it. >> she is now among the missing. >> this is the closest we have within able to get to the collapsed site. right now that crane, you can see its removing debris from the side of the build, swinging it carefully over the big pile of debris and moving out of the way.

part of that rubble could provide important evidence in determining what caused this tragedy. >> have you to look at the design of the building, the engineering, the quality of the construction. i think in the end maintenance will probably play a significant role in this. >> the building had start started it's 40 year recertification process. work had started on the roof but in 2015 a tenant sued the association claiming water damage from cracks in her walls and a 2020 study found that in the 90's the land beneath the tower was sinking at a faster rate than in neighboring towns. one author from that report saying they did flag the findings. we have requested all public records on this building from the city. no star they haven't released them. >> just horrible. we will keep you posted on that. we are standing by for what will likely be a new press conference with more

. san jose earthquakes will host the galaxy in the anticipated california classic. since 2012 the quakes have hosted the galaxy usually at stanford stadium. tonight's match will be at paypal park in san jose. this game will be the largest sporting event in santa clara county since the pandemic started. it starts at 7 tonight. and in sports tonight the a's and giants will play the second game of their t series at oracle park. first pitch is at 7:05. last night the two teams played the bay bridge series opener. here is chris alvarez with the highlights of that in this morning's sports. >> good morning.

the mid50's. 58 oakland. san jose, 59 morgan hill. 55 half moon bay and this is walnut creek. a few clouds reaching in toward the east bay. mid50's in santa rosa and napa. a nice cool start for you but things will change, upper 50's in concord. livermore 57. down by the beach here in santa cruz you can see all the clouds here with numbers, climbing throughout the afternoon. you will have to be far inland to feel that heat. otherwise, we will see the low clouds and fog hang back to the coast. with that mist and drizzle for the morning hours, then heating up in parts of the north and east bay and by tomorrow looking at a cooldown really for those parts that are going to warm up today around the delta, also up to the north bay. much of this heat is going to last in the pacific northwest through tuesday and extreme northern california. all of the numbers here pretty excessive but you notice along the coast from san

francisco, to loss, not to unusual. we are seeing temperatures that really are pretty seasonable. as we look at our saturday afternoon winds, this -- this can allow for some relief as we look at our afternoon sea breeze, 25 to 30 miles an hour. oakland, san francisco, 60's and 70's will feel nice into your sunday. starting out with a lighter wind and then once again by the afternoon we have our sea breeze and it'll get breezy. where you are hot today by the delta, antioch you will get a better breeze tomorrow. up in the north bay we will still be warm but you will still also have a better breeze into your sunday afternoon. as for today 82 in san jose77 in sunnyvale, look for 80 in santa cruz. mid-70s in san mateo. 80 in redwood city. upper 70's in mountain view. downtown 66. looking at 60 with the clouds hanging on in daley city. you can see where the heat gets to santa rose a90,

to the north, well over 100 degrees. these mid-80s's pretty typical, 86 in san rafael and in the east bay looking at low 70's for oakland and upper 90's here for pittsburgh and antioch. 90 in pleasanton. numbers where you think it would be hot it'll get toasty. the accuweather seven day forecast feature the biggest warm up over the weekend will be today and then numbers with more coastal drizzle and expansionive marine layer. by tuesday it's another heat spike. upper90's inland and then rest of the workweek featuring the warm numbers inland and temperate numbers around the bay and at the coast. if you are inland in some of those areas well to the north hopefully you have that air conditioning. >> definitely. a challenging part that so many of us don't.
