near pacifica a man was bitten by what authorities say was a great white at gray whale coastal beach. we are told he is expected to recover. cornell bernard joins us live, and cornell, what did you learn about what happened? >> reporter: posted signs say the beach is closed. first responders say a 39-year-old surfer was bit. >> the patient was bitten by a smaller great white shark and was able to swim to shore with

assistance from bystanders where they pulled them onto the beach and were able to render care until the first responders got there. >> reporter: this picture shows paramedics on the beach treating the victim. >> they lost about a pint of blood and they were able to put a turn get on. tourniquet on. >> reporter: the rescue was complicated due to the fact it was too foggy. the victim had to be carried by paramedics up this steep stairway to highway 1. the great white shark was about to eight feet in length. some folks waded into the surf despite the warning. but others are staying on dry lan. >> yeah, it's rk? i've seen jahz. jaws. i know what they can do. >> just having a good time, and

a great white. so definitely makes it a little more real when someone actually gets bit. >> reporter: the victim told medics that that shark took one bite and then swam away. clearly that shark attack not keeping many surfers out of the water here in pacifica tooifrnt. tonight. but despite what happened and despite the fact that so many surfers were in the water, authorities are urging anyone going into the water this weekend off the san mateo county coast. oakland is celebrating pride

with a special expo featuring queer-owned and run businesses. the space is filled with vendors and merchants. and nonprofits that support lgbtq communities. organizers from oakland black pride say the goal is to reconnect with the community after a tough pandemic year. >> being able to just up and come out and everybody participate, it doesn't matter if you're gay or straight or whatever. everybody parts and i think that's wonderful. several other events will continue tomorrow. across the bay, the pride parade is canceled again. but san francisco. abc it kinda feels like a sidewalk party.

rescuers are racing against time in a search for survivors following condo collapse in florida. crews found another body today, bringing the number of dead to five. >> reporter: there's a convoy

law enforcement vehicles going by. the news tonight is not good for families. when 159 people were accounted for, they now have identified three victims. bringing the total death toll to five. and the news continues to get worse. >> reporter: on a chain-link fence not far from the collapsed site with the acrid smell of smoke still hanging in the air, there are dozens of pictures forming a wall of the missing. after three days, their loved ones are still in the dark. >> i really do believe that everybody is doing everything in their power. i really think the city of miami is doing that. but of course everybody wants family members. so time is of the essence. >> it's a really, really difficult time right now. you wake up in the morning hoping that more and more people
