the short end of the stick. it's just that simple and i don't know if this is b.a.r.t.'s fault, if this is the a's fault, if it's a combination of both. it feels like there is solutions that i've seen extended to the same problem other stadiums multiple times. >> reporter: j.r. stone, abc7 news. >> b.a.r.t. is resuming late night train service august 2nd , a few weeks earlier than originally planned. the agency will operate until midnight starting that date with the exception of sundays when service will end at 9 p.m. from july 15th through the end of the month b.a.r.t. will add four late night trains leaving embarcadero station at 11:30. those trains will stop at just a handful of stops in the east bay and in san francisco. new developments in state politics tonight, it's official, california has set a it's a lot earlier than many expected. abc7 news reporter kate larsen spoke with political experts

about why the timing could actually be good news for the governor. >> reporter: californians, mark the calendar. september 14th is recall election day when voters decide whether to oust governor gavin newsom from office. >> the new date is christmas in july for gavin newsom and his team. they have got to be popping the champagne corks today. >> reporter: senior politico's california playbook karla maranucci explained september gives republicans less time to wage a campaign against newsom. >> they were looking for months to be able to pound newsom on his weaknesses which they think homelessness, crime rising in the cities. >> reporter: republicans have their own take. one of the main recall proponents. how do you think the timing of the recall date will impact this election? >> i think it's going to actually be a huge problem for him and less of a problem for

us. august, september, october, november, if you're a bad governor, you're a bad governor. >> reporter: dunsmore thinks the delta variant and election timing with back to school could be problematic for newsom. >> i think they were expecting that covid will be gone. people will forget and he's home free. people aren't going to forget. >> reporter: is governor newsom pleased with the september 14th recall date? >> i mean we're ready to go. >> reporter: senior adviser with stop the republican recall nathan glick would not directly answer my question but said their campaign wants to get the recall over with. >> all of the folks on the republican side are against climate change. they do not stand for our immigrant communities and they don't represent our values as californians. >> reporter: so how does recall voting work? every registered voter will receive a vote by mail ballot which counties will send out in august. there will be two questions on the ballot. the first, should governor newsom be recalled? if more than 50% vote yes, then question number two comes into play. vote for an alternative

make it sizzle, something like that? >> i think. so it's going to be colored clouds for some fireworks shows, especially in places like san francisco where we have the fog. it's part of our tradition in july. let me show you a time lapse now from our east bay hills camera. you can see the deep marine layer tonight as the sun was getting ready to set. it's about 2,000 feet deep and it was rolling in, a live doppler 7 now showing you pretty good push all the way into the east bay as you will notice, the gray skies, also sili just over moon bay, six miles in petaluma and eight miles in santa rosa. so be careful tomorrow morning. temperatures right now anywhere from the 50s to the 70s. our ocean temperature, about mid-50s. i want to show you a view from our camera, just gray skies in san francisco. this is good because the measurable drizzle this morning and again tomorrow morning helps to add a little more moisture to the fuels which

helps to keep our fire danger down, especially when we're in an exceptional to extreme drought. low clouds, fog and patchy morning drizzle, foggy areas for the fourth ofreworkal temperatures through the holiday weekend. so really overall weather looks nice, combination of fog and sun for your fourth of july at noontime, 50s to 70s, a mild afternoon and you will notice that there will be some fog around at 9:00. definitely grab the extra layer because it does cool off pretty quickly. let's look at your fireworks forecast for san francisco. you will notice the gray skies, fog right aroundsontparts of th bay, but well inland clear skies are expected. so if you are checking out the fireworks while inland, should be a spectacular show. here's a look at temperatures. at 9:30 you're looking at anywhere from the upper 50s to the mid-60s in places like livermore. hopefully mother nature cooperates for all the shows that are still taking place in this pandemic. hour-by-hour forecast, you will notice some patchy drizzle
