contra costa pavilion was the place to see a professional fireworks show but it wasn't enough to stop people from setting off their own show of illegal fireworks. fireworks lit up the sky, many did spark fires they spent weeks preparing for fourth of july seizing hundreds of pounds of fireworks. it's why the city of concord decided to go all out moving the fireworks show to the pavilion so people can enjoy it. >> people want to sit in their front yards and watch, maybe they won't do something silly like blow off illegal fireworks. >> the protection district responded to 48 grass and exterior fires and about 5

firefighters are gaining ground on two containment has gone up to 52% in the lava fire. firefighters are running into some rugged terrain in some places and can't get to the flames the sheriff's office

announced that 14 people were arrested for refusing to leave the area. a lightning strike sparked this fire. the salt fire has been more destructive. it wiped out 2 dozen homes in shasta county now it's at 15% containment and burned 9,000- acres and still threatening a number of homes in the area. this fire started on wednesday and investigators believe a spark from a vehicle on i-5 ignited it. small businesses around the globe are scrambling. they're trying to contain aranea tack that could be the largest on record. they believe that a russian- backed hacking group is responsible. >> teams are working feverishly to stem a damaging ransomware attack. >> we just shut everything down. >> at least a thousand companies that rely on remote

a new state law is giving students a chance to make up for poor grades. the governor signed it into law. they have the option to make up for the year. they can enroll in a fifth year of high school. that's for juniors and seniors they already accept pass or no pass classes. an indiana doctor worked as a family practitioner for nearly 50 years is going door to door to get his community vaccinated. >> a family practice doctor for 49 years, dr. john woodall at 80 years old is practicing to this day. both john and his wife never got covid during the pandemic

will turn into sunshine for the bay neighborhoods. heat wave begins thursday and it could get extreme in the inland neighborhoods and the risk is going to ramp up considerably through the weekend. today, we're staying the course. these numbers look pretty not unusual, pretty normal, what we've been in for two weeks. come up with your own, mid-80s down in the south bay. 74 to 79 for the rest of the peninsula. 65 to 69 for downtown and south san francisco. 59 for the bay and you head into the valleys, some 70s. 80s elsewhere until you get northward. along the east bay along the shore, berkeley at 69. you head into the valleys, the trivalley into the 80s.
