let's start with a look at the weather. good morning. temperatures have dropped off earlier this morning into the upper 40s in novato. remember they were well into the 90s yesterday. extensive marine layer has a strong footprint over the bay area influencing weather around the bay today, a lot like yesterday. you can see the stratus down to southern california. we can see the low cloud deck. it is in 60s in warmer locations, 52 pacifica, sunny san jose here. inland valleys, we are already approaching near 70. that's where we have our heat warning again for cities of dublin, pleasanton, livermore, concord, danville and through monday night in clear lake and lake county. we have a heat advisory for santa clara and inland valleys of north bay mountains. coastal cooling around the bay. we'll detail that for you in

vaccinations. california's vaccination pace hassoun slowed substantially. the current average is about 59,000 doses a day. more than 20.4 million californians are fully vaccinated. that's about 60% of the eligible population. just under 3.2 are partially vaccinated. our abc7 news reporter is on our vaccine team and talked about what the update means and who could be exempt. >> reporter: san francisco has one of the highest vaccination rates in the country. 75% of the population is fully vaccinated. as delta variant becomes a dominant strain across the state, san francisco is updating its health order for those in high risk work places. >> our skilled nursing facilities, residential care facilities for elderly, acute

care hospitals, jails, shelters. >> reporter: initially san francisco was mandating for workers in high risk settings to be vaccinated once vaccines were fully approved by fda. now those in high risk settings need to be vaccinated by september 15. >> we expect it is possible that the vaccines will be fully approved by the time that september 15th date comes around. >> reporter: san francisco's deputy sheriffs work with inmates in jails and responded to this order in part. the sfdsa values and respects the right to choice. we have protective options in place with face masks and testing already. forcing vaccines is not a san francisco value. health order highlights that the work places will need to keep records of employee vaccination status and provide them to city public health officer if requested. on page 11, exemptions. one, based on religious beliefs. two, qualifying medical reasons. >> if you are going to refuse

voted to divert about $18 million from the police department budget. >> this is not about politics. this is about saving lives. >> reporter: the chief says small community town hall meetings will be held this summer around oakland talking safety and crime prevention. delta variant is raising new concerns about coronavirus. its rapid spread is fueling rising daily caseload of nearly 15,000 across u.s. 25 states including california are seeing cases climb. that is sparking another debate about masking just as cdc is out with new guidelines for returning to the classroom. vaccinated students and teachers do not need to wear a mask unless the school district says otherwise. >> it will be up to the schools and districts in the states to determine if they're able to put different rules in the classroom for those fully vaccinated compared to those who are not yet vaccinated. >> national education association released a statement with guidance saying schools should require masks in

in san jose it is sunny and temperatures will be on the warm side, 80s to near 90 but not as hot as it could be. it's 53 in the city, 56 in oakland. with milder numbers from mount view to san jose, we don't have much of a sea breeze yet. up above, numbers are very warm. we are in the upper 60s san jose to morgan hill. pacifica 51, another look at san jose with a blue sky, 57 santa rosa, low 60s towards novato and napa. these cities were in the 90s to near 100 yesterday but we've had the cooling and breeze throughout much of the bay. inland it's a different story. that southwesterly wind by delta at 20 miles an hour, it's going to bring little relief late in the day but we are forecasting over 100 by delta and antioch. take a look at the fog at sfo. you know the routine, we will get the sea breeze. it will be pleasant along the peninsula.

we will not see 90s. we'll see 80s and 70s more likely down through palo alto. with the fog along the coast, it will be touch and go, whether or not you get the sun at the coast and if you do, we will have gusty winds for sure. heat is with us inland for another day but it is mild to warm elsewhere so it really is determined by micro climates and for the breeze this afternoon as fog pulls back. tonight we've got fog cozying along the coast. we had sun at the beach yesterday. today it will be cool, windy, and we will stay in the 50s in some spots around pacifica, half moon bay. monday another surge of marine aretes all the 90s away. yesterday was the peak of the heat and it really wasn't that bad in many parts of the bay. i know in inland valleys you are saying it was a different story. that's for sure. later today you will feel the sea breeze by the delta, about the only place towards the sacramento valley where you

will feel relief at all. it is still sizzling there. into your monday, a little bit of a breeze. monday afternoon it picks up again. with the wide range today it is feeling like average around the city, around the bay. 60s, 70s. you go to lake county and your heat will last another day through monday. that's why we have the 90s to 100 from santa rosa to lake port and antioch 102, upper 90s liver more and concord. a bit better. in the 80s for some around fremont. hayward maybe about 80. that breeze will help us in the low cloud deck like it always does. we've got 50s at the coast, 100 by the delta. but we are cooler today even inland as that sea breeze is bringing some cool marine air further across the bay. that dictates the rest of the weather for the week ahead which is very comfortable. >> happy to hear that, definitely. where it was for me was very

google is reopening california offices on a voluntary basis starting tomorrow. chronical reports the tech giant won't require workers be vaccinated but those who provide proof can remove masks in the office. unvaccinated will be required to wear masks and take covid tests every week. most google employees are expected to be back in the office in september. in the east bay this

the forecast. yesterday that 62 at the coast was pretty cool but you contrast that to 106 at the livermore airport. that 44-degree spread, although micro climates in between and low clouds and fog this morning making their way across the bay. you notice the cloudy skies in emeryville, berkeley, oakland as well as alameda. that's making an impact on temperatures all the way towards richmond, san pablo bay. east of 580, it is a whole different story where the heat is allowing for morning temperatures in the 60s and 70s with the ridge of high pressure building in the atmosphere allowing for that warmth. as we look at the fog along the coast and the gray start here in the city, it's going to be another comfortable one in the 60s but gusting winds by afternoon, not only in san francisco but all up and down the coast and across the bay. 67 with sunny skies here in san

jose, 80s and 90s, really depends where you are, if you are sheltered from the breeze and with high pressure very, very close to us it's going to be a little bit better for most of you. 62 napa, 57 santa rosa, upper 60s concord and livermore, southwest wind with gusts up to 33 miles an hour by delta indicating that breeze is going to keep going throughout the afternoon and trim off some of the triple digit heat. there is a look at the haze. we've had good air quality but it is in spots, moderate around oakland and santa clara. fog along the coast in parts of the bay. excessive heat continues inland but not as warm as yesterday and looking at the mild to warm conditions around the bay with those breezy to gusty winds this afternoon. here is a look at what you can expect in inland valleys. yesterday we added another five to seven degrees.

this is around say antioch and fairfield, brentwood 102. we'll see upper 90s from livermore and concord. that's an improvement. it is still hot but we cool off more so into your monday. after that, it looks nice with a lot of 80s around the bay and for inland valleys. in fact coming down a little bit below average. widespread readings for santa layer are a. we have a heat advisory. look at morgan hill and gilroy and you understand why, upper 90s to near 100, los gatos. around the bay, 80s from milpitas but 70s from san mateo to san bruno with the sea breeze, winds kicking up and some 80s around red wood city but only 50s in pacifica, 62 in the sun set with similar conditions like we had yesterday in san francisco. more cooling up towards the san pablo bay and vallejo at 77.
