eastbound mckie road is closed. it is unclear what happened, exactly. this is breaking news and we will bring you more as it comes in. developing news with a husband and father in the east bay getting desperate. they asked for confident hikers to help search for the missing hiker. >> reporter: yesterday was a big day for them. they are concerned about how long he has gone with they may scale back the search today for phil kreycik. they are saying he is either nonresponsive or not in the search area . they have had hundreds of people looking for him since saturday with search dogs, drones and aircraft. they are searching the area where he said he went for a run

ramping up. they put out a plea on social media overnight, calling for people to come and help. people who are experienced hikers or emts. they family called late last night to say they heard a cry from help coming from the canyon. they are searching for phil kreycik who disappeared saturday after saying he was going for a run. authorities have thoroughly covered the area in pleasanton where he was running. they say they have looked carefully for any clue or a hint of a clue. >> we have gone to the nitty- gritty with details. we have found rocks bl thatloodcame ba as >> reporter: hundreds of people

have been looking since saturday on and around the trails near the moller ranch staging area. that's the parking lot where they found his car . police have two theories. either he is not responsive or not in the area. they are now turning their attention to the rugged and remote canyon. live in pleasanton, amy hollyfield, abc7 news. plane crashed into a home near monterey and one person has died . this was just before 11:00 about a mile from the monterey airport. the plane took off from there and was headed to salinas. a large portion of the house was smoking or on fire and the debris sparked spot fires in the brush around the property. the name of the victim has not been released but the pilot is unaccounted for. thhome of the crash.

>> i was not there which was a blessing in a way. >> reporter: the cause of the crash is under investigation. now to the pandemic and what some say is a setback as cases are going up across the country. there has been attend percent increase in hospital limitations and people dying every day. >> reporter: there were 331 outbreaks in the last month. a subcommittee was told that loosening safety measures could be impart part of the cause. doctors say the cases are expected and the vaccines are highly effective live at preventing serious illness. researchers are looking to see if there is a correlation between a person's immune system and level of antibody as they look for a breakthrough.

you can see the smoke is pretty thick in san jose. this is the camera on 280. chp says this is a fire at a homeless encampment. we just saw this at 5:30 before the fire department was there. now you can see crews are working to get this out. through this area, as mike has been saying, the cooperating to blow the smoke away from drivers. now you can see it drifting to the roadway. be careful approaching the area . and morgan hill, 75% of all crime involves a car. >> now a pilot program would put 25 cameras in high crime areas. they will automatically read license plates and give vehicle descriptions to police. similar programs have been successful. not everyone in morgan hill is
