until the morning or afternoon for sunshine. some areas along the coast especially the peninsula. not getting much sunshine. 57 there. 60s around the bay. mainly 70s inland. anywhere from 6 to 11 degrees below average. our coolest day moving forward, i'll show you when the mmhe rur >> thank u. the search for missing father in the east bay has come to an end. loved ones are not giving up hope. >> philip kreycik hasn't been seen since saturday. amy hollyfield is live with where the search stands this morning. hi, amy. >> reporter: hi there. it's gated up. the command post center has been torn down. volunteers aren't giving up hope. they're going to keep looking. that official intense search you've been seeing happening coming out of here all week, that is over. authorities packed it all up yesterday. they say this is now concluded.

one search and rescue team member did say this could be the largest operation they've done in 45 years. hundreds of people have been searching the park area since saturday looking for philip kreycik of berkeley. he told his wife he would be going on a trail run in the area. he never returned. his car was found in the trail head parking lot and his phone was found inside as well. kreycik is a married father of two. his wife says she is not giving up. >> he's extremely fit mentally and physically. i ask people to have faith with us and that he is out there alive waiting for us. that we ask that people continue to help us. we will bring him home together. the sheriff's department says if you look at the map of all the ground they have veit's hard to imagine that they haven't found him. they are considering the

possibility that he is not in the area. pleasanton police say every detective in the department has been assigned to this case. volunteers say they will do one final search today. so they plan to meet here at 9:00 this morning. live in pleasanton, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. there's a new warning this morning about an urgent threat to public health. >> the u.s. surgeon general says misinformation is threatening the government's response to covid-19. jobina with the details. >> this is the first surgeon general's advisory of the biden administration. it says misinformation has hindered the country's vaccination efforts sewing mistrust among the general public. the notice says many people are rejecting public health measures and using unproven treatments and this has prolonged the pandemic. the u.s. surgeon general says social media has left misinformation spread far and wide. it's let misinformation spread far and wide. he's calling on tech companies

to crack down on misinformation and for the general public to talk to their friends and family about getting vaccinated. the latest data shows the biden administration has finally reached its goal of fully vaccinating 160 million americans. but it still hasn't reached its goal of getting 70% of adults vaccinated with shot. president biden wanted to reach that mark by july 4th. a wildfire threatening a california town scarred by the camp fire in 2018. the dixie fire has forced an evacuation warning in butte county. that's not far from paradise where a wildfire killed 85 people less than three years ago. >> camp fire. so many of us escaped basically with our lives. seeing the plumes of smoke it really raises everyone's anxiety level. >> cal fire says crews were working through the night to

new developments in california's extreme drought emergency. the second largest dam in the state lake oroville in butte county is in danger of having to shut down its power because of low water levels. it provides enough electricity to 800,000 homes in the area. but if the water gets 20 to 40 feet lower it may not be abth tb ldha shut down power for the first time since its creation in 1967. >> i'm seeing islands out on the lake that i've never seen before. i've been fishing this lake since the 80s. >> the water is about a third of where it should be this time

and confusion among residents and witnesses as the building came down. several callers wondered if there was some sort of explosion or an earthquake. >> what's your emergency? >> yes, i'm in champlain towers, something's going on here. you've got to get us out of here. >> you're in your apartment right now? >> yes, but half the building's gone. >> seems like something underground. everything exploded. >> which the first 911 calls came in just after 1:00 a.m. on june 24th. the calls grew more frequent and urgent by the moment. one woman was on the line with dispatchers as she frantically tried to escape from the garage. >> the roof collapsed in the building. a bunch of us are in the garage but we cannot get out. we're going back up the stairwell. the garage is inundated with water. we don't know where the water is coming from. >> abc news has obtained documents indicating that as far back as 1996 inspectors were calling for repairs to the garage and pool. that's just 15 years after the

building went up. while repairs were made, investigators will be looking at this closely as they work to determine what caused the collapse. reggie. >> thank you. there's a new effort to help gun violence victims and their families deal with trauma. the nonprofit crime survivors for safety and justice will provide a $100,000 grant to eight survivor-led organizations in california. >> this is where my brother mitchell died. he was shot and killed right here where this car is parked. >> the nonprofit made this documentary about how underserved communities often can't get access to victims compensation funds. it's working to get cash assistance to survivors and families. us for us in san francisco is one group getting part of the grant. >> young people waiting a long time to get buried. tombstones not being ready. >> ask we know that having access to services and support immediately after a crime reduces the likelihood of more violence. >> nonprofits are calling on city and county leaders to match those grant funds

pleasanton. amy. >> hi there, yeah. foothill high school is no longer a command post. it's now just an empty parking lot. everyone has pulled out of here but volunteers tell us they are not giving up hope. even though the search is now officially over. authorities have been dispatching search teams from here every day since saturday. they have been going through the pleasanton ridge regional park area looking for 37-year- old philip kreycik of berkeley. he vanished saturday after telling his wife he was going for a trail run. his car was found in the parking lot along with his phone and he had even mapped out his route on a runner's app. his family believes he's out there waiting for help. >> reporter: i know in my z. >> i know he's alive. he's waiting for us. he's probably maybe injured. dehydrated and delirious. >> one of the things we want to do is make sure that everybody who has property that's even

remotely close to the park boundaries, please search for out buildings and your barns and your ditches. your backyards. wherever you might think a person who is not in his right mind might try to hide. >> reporter: authorities say they have thoroughly searched the area with hundreds of people. they've used search dogs and helicopters. they have detectives working the investigation behind the scenes. they are trying to piece together his timeline of that morning. they're asking anyone who saw him to please give them a call. they do not have a single witness who saw him on the trail that day. volunteers say they want to give this one more try. they will meet here at 9:00 this morning. they will head out to search the area one more time. live in pleasanton, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thank you. we have new details about the vta gunman's previous interactions with law

enforcement. our media partners obtained federal documents an an interaction between samuel cassidy and airport customs agents in 2016. the report has notes from agents about cassidy having quote, dark thoughts about harming people. it's unclear why that information wasn't passed on to local authorities. santa clara county da is meeting with officials to discuss this issue. now to the covid-19 pandemic. health officials are noticing more young adults and kids in the hospital because of the delta variety. they're predicting an increase in hospital admissions over the next month. most new patients are unvaccinated people between 20 and 40 years old and because covid vaccines aren't available to kids under 12 yet, officials are worried children might be more likely to get sick. cdc director dr. rochelle walensky talked about vaccination rates live this morning. >> our 12 to 17-year-olds, only 30% of them are vaccinated across the country whereas our greater than 65-year-olds over

80 percent of them are vaccinated. what we're seeing is that people are coming into the hospital when they're unvaccinated. >> you can watch more of the interview coming up at 7:00 on gma after abc 7 mornings. governor newsom says the time for californians who are behind on rent to sign up for the state's rent relief program is as we speak. >> $5.2 billion to pay 100% of your back rent to april of last year. to pay 100% of your rent through september 30th of this year if you've been impacted directly by covid-19. >> the governor saying it's unlikely the state's eviction moratorium will be extended beyond september. a minimum wage job is far the bay area. pay for in this is according to new analysis from the national low income housing coalition. the ys it takes equivalent of four full time minimum wage jobs for a worker
