most of this will be seasonable with comfortable temperatures. i will have more coming up later. thank you. developing in the east bay, there is a fire on bradford island which is forcing evacuations. it is about 8 miles northeast of antioch and home for about 25 people. flames sparked a 1:30 this morning. firefighters say 212 acres have burned. two structures have been damaged. they say that the fire is burning in an extremely remote area and the only way to the island is by ferry. they're calling the situation dangerous and they say that the wind is pushing the flames it iunclear what started the fire or if anyone has been hurt. if you're planning to use bart for your commute today, you have more options. service returning to near pre- pandemic levels almost one month ahead of schedule. we have more this. good morning. >> reporter: good morning.

bart riders say that more trades are always welcome, especially for the ride home. that is when things tend to get pretty crowded. this will take part to pre- pandemic levels. this is one month earlier than what they had planned. demand is growing so they will have trains running later and more frequently. the bart vice president said that the riders health is a top priority. >> bart is safer than being in a closed building because the air is circulated more quickly. every second he 70 seconds, it is circulated and bart has worked to to install even better air filters that filter smaller air particles. if you're going into an office building every day, bart is safer than the office building. >> reporter: you're the changes. trains will run until midnight and they will come every 15 minutes during the day.

san francisco are fully vaccinated. the bay area is doing much better than other parts of the country when it comes to vaccinations. dr. anthony fauci gave this stern warning yesterday. >> things are going to get worse. we have 100 million people in this country who are eligible to be vaccinated and who are not getting vaccinated. >> reporter: more than 76% of counties in the u.s. now report high or substantial transmission rates. the cdc suggest that the delta variant is more contagious than the common cold while the average person with a cold can affect 2 to 3 people come the average person infected with the delta variant could infect 5 to 9 people. the bay area is bracing for new masking rules. there have been considering new restrictions with the delta variant causing a surge in cases. the cdc stopped short of a mask mandate last week but it left amended indoor masking for everyone in areas with high to substantial transmission.
