around, sandy patel in for dream. sandy: it will be a day before we start to see a real improvement, that we are starting to see signs of that right now. you will see it is still smoky. the breeze is really blowing, blue skies showing up. gusts to 23 in oakland. our air quality up across most spots in the bay area above 150. you will notice that some of the smoke and haze gets pushed as we head towards tomorrow evening to the east. we do have an air quality advisory that has been extended through tomorrow for the wildfire smoke. moderate air quality expected the next four days. >> looks good. water fire smoke -- wildfire smoke is blanketing the bay area for the next several days,

causing people to take notice and precautions. we are live in some moma county -- in sonoma county with details . how is the air quality where you are? reporter: actually, the air is improving ever so slightly. you could barely see mount a few hours ago. now it is slightly visible on the horizon. but this weekend, people once again seeing and smelling smoke. >> we have been locked in with the covid. now we are locked in with the air. reporter: cinema residents feeling stressed about the bad air being pumped into the sonoma valley, leaving her beloved hillsides shrouded in smoke. >> we had guests for a birthday party, and we moved them from outdoors to indoors because people were getting sick. reporter: these two have been smelling smoke on their vacation. >> it is more foggy looking.

>> our tour guide told us the air would be a little bit smoky. we are definitely noticing a lot of that. reporter: their quality moved to moderate levels saturday, but for some parts of the bay area, the air was unhealthy for sensitive groups. >> it does look bad, especially in areas along the north bay and east bay. reporter: the smoke blanketed mount diablo. here on mount st. helena, the smoke so thick that the spectacular view was nonexistent . all that smoke ascending a not-so-subtle health message. >> if you do smell smoke, you are being affected. stay indoors. reporter: you can see the smoke from space. check out this satellite image. the smoke is pushed into the bay area from the dixie fire, burning across four northern california counties. plumes rising as high as 35,000 feet, visible from this commercial jet.

out dozens of homes. the dixie fire is on the verge of becoming the second largest in state history. it has burned over 446,000 acres. we made it to greenville, all but wiped out by the flames. reporter: it is hard to believe your eyes out here. every home in this neighborhood brought to the ground. homes that look like this with very little left. you can see the staircase. if we walk a few feet, you can see what remains of this patio table. not much is melted. overnight, this fire continued to grow. we are looking at the dixie fire right now, california's third-largest fire in the state 's history, the size of houston. it looks like a bomb went off in this area. homes and buildings that have withstood the test of time for over 100 years now decimated. what was once a small downtown is now a ghost town.

multiple people are still reported missing two days later, and firefighters' work is far from over. a few minutes out from greenville yesterday, firefighters were strategically lighting part of the forest on fire, trying to save the remaining homes. further south, the river fire exploded to nearly 3000 acres. three people, including a firefighter, was injured. one major factor, the mega drought in the west. lake oroville was a major provider of water in the region, no longer dividing resources from their hydroelectric power plant because of a lack of water. containment for this fire plummeting overnight, down to 20%, and 14,000 structures still threatened. dion: in the north bay, a vaccine today also offered covid testing. the mobile county c

made a stop. there were a number of gift cards available for those who got a shot, although more than 90% of eligible residents in the county have received at least one dose of the vaccine. organizers of today's event say more needs to be done. >> even that we are performing well with vaccinations in marion county, we have people who need the vaccine, so we are trying to make it more accessible by being in the neighborhood, blocking the street and pelting. dion: the mobile clinic will be back for the next three saturdays, offering vaccinations from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. meantime, there is a new cash offer to get people vaccinated. california is offering $50 a piece to more than 11 people in the state who get insurance through medicaid. that is part of a new $350 million plan to get more of the state's medicaid population vaccinated. the state has already given out more than 160 million dollars in

dion: washington, where the senate held a rare saturday session, voting to raise the $1 trillion infrastructure bill. it will replace lead pipes around the country and also funnel money into real systems, bridges, and airports nationwide and expand infrastructure for electric vehicles. mitch mcconnell says he believes passing the bill is a core government response ability -- responsibility. sen. mcconnell: republicans and democrats have radically different visions, but both

around the corner. let's take a look at the live picture from our mount tam cam. in the mid to upper parts of the atmosphere, we are seeing smoke players. down below, we have the marine layer. mi francisco, 79 in san jose, down to about 60 in pacifica. from our kgo roof camera, the breeze is blowing, and that is why you are seeing blue skies. it is getting better where the wind is coming off the ocean. 80 in santa rosa, napa, 73. our warmest spots are still in the 90's, but it is cooler than where we were yesterday. we do have fog along the coastline, lingering from san francisco's south. if you take a look at the temperature change, eight degrees cooler in santa rosa. i am going to step aside so you can get a view of this. you will notice layer's of smoke along with hayes over the shark tank. the haze and smoke lingers into

sunday. you're looking at breezier and cooler conditions tomorrow. the air quality in the bay area is mostly good to moderate, greens and yellows. it is awful near the wildfires and in the sierra. anywhere from unhealthy to hazardous air. i want to show you a live picture from yosemite, where you really cannot see much out there. upper layer's of the atmosphere will continue to see smoke going into tomorrow afternoon, but watch what happens as we head until late tomorrow night and monday. smoke it's pushed out of the bay area as the sea breeze -- gets pushed out of the bay area as the sea breeze strengthens. the winds coming off the ocean sunday night, gusting 25 to 30 miles per hour. we will take it. some fog tonight into tomorrow morning and some spotty drizzle as the marine layer has deepened. sunday morning, you are looking at lingering fog at 8:00 a.m. and then pulling away from the coast. most of you should see sun.
