certainly this was not the best weekend when it comes to the smoke, how long will be hays hang around? let's get to meteorologist sandy a patel. sandhya: some -- most of the bay area has been impacted in one way or another. it is difficult to see because of the smoke. air-quality advisory extended through tomorrow. the next four days we are looking at moderate air quality. right now we are seeing some parts of the bay area. most areas are good at this hour because of the scenery. 15 in fairfield will be temporary as we are expecting some lingering smoke tomorrow going into the afternoon. look what happens later on tomorrow night. the heavier smoke and haze starts to get pushed on by the sea breeze, that will be a

welcome sight. the rest of your smoke and sunday forecast coming up. dion: wildfire smoke is blanketing the bay area for the second day now. abc news rte cornell bernard is live for us in sonoma county and you mentioned the air quality is improving oso slightly. picked up. check it out, now slightly visible in the distance just about two hours ago you could just see it through the haze. >> we have been locked in with the covid and now we are locked in with the air. ccornell: being stressed about the air being pumped in the sonoma valley, leaving her wine hillsides surrounded in smoke. >> we had guest in last night

for a birthday party and we moved from because people were getting sick. cornell: tourists had been smelling smoke for days. >> i definitely noticed our tour guide told us the air will be a little bit smoky. definitely noticed a lot of that. cornell: air quality move to moderate level saturday and in some parts of the bay area the air was unhealthy. >> it looks really bad in the bay area especially the north bay and east bay. cornell: the smoke blanketed mount diablo. here are not say helene smoke is so thick the spectacular view was nonexistent. >> what we are telling people is if you smell smoke, in those cases limit your exposure outside. cornell: you can see the smoke

from space, check out this satellite image. it is pushed into the bay area from the monster dixie fire burning across four northern california counties. tombs of smoke rising as high as 35,000 feet. who could forget last september when wildfires turned day into night creating an apocalyptic orange sky? at the music festival saturday john dirks was being careful. >> we are playing by ear and keeping eyes and ears open. cornell: air quality officials recommend using an air purifier and trying to keep your doors and windows shut this weekend. dion: it is a good reminder, thanks. don't forget you could track the air quality where you live at our website, abc seven news.com. you can also view it whenever you seem.

more video of wildfire devastation is coming out of northern california today. in the sierra, the river fire has knocked out thousands of homes. the dixie fire is showing no signs of slowing down and is on the verge of becoming the second largest in state history. it has burned over 440 6000 acres. abc news reporters doreen shaw made it to greenville. reporter: it is hard to believe your eyes out here, every home in this neighborhood brought to the ground. homes that look like this, very little left. you could see the staircase right here. you could see what remains of this patio table, not much. overnight, this fire continued to grow. we are looking at the dixie fire right now. it is california's third largest fire in the state's history. destroying over 100 homes,

eviscerating the gold rush town of greenville. it looks like a bomb went off. homes and buildings that have we said -- withstood the task of time -- what is once a small town is now a ghost town. multiple people are still reported missing. the firefighters work is far from over. firefighters were intentionally and strategically lighting part of the forest on fire trying to save remaining homes. the river fire exploded to nearly 3000 acres. three people including a firefighter were injured. one major factor, the mega drought in the west. a major provider of water no longer providing resources with their powerplant because of a lack of water. containment for this fire down to 20%. 14,000 structures still threatened.

dion: governor newsom spent the day in greenville getting a look at the damage from the dixie fire and discussing ongoing firefighting efforts. the governor posted these pictures a short time ago on his facebook page. he says all that is left of the post office and church is rubble. also set the stage will be there to help the town rebuild. a vaccine event today also offered corona testing. people rolled up their sleeves when the vaccine unit made the stop in san rafael. there were gift cards available for those who got the shot. more than 90% of eligible residents in the county have received at least one dose of the vaccine. organizers of the event saint -- say more needs to be done. >> we are performing well but we have far more people who need the vaccine.

we need to make it accessible by being here in the neighborhood blocking the street. dion: the mobile clinic will be back at canal lines the next three saturdays offering vaccinations from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. there is a new cash offer to get people vaccinated. california's offering $50 apiece for people who get their insurance through medicaid. it is a part of a $50 million plan to get more of the population vaccinated. the state has given out more than 116 million dollars overall in vaccine incentives. for the first time in 566 days, 49ers fans were able to set foot in levi's stadium to watch their team. they held an open practice today. the last time the faithful were there in person was the nfc championship game when the niners beat the packers to advance to the super bowl.

let me show you what it looks like from our live tower camera. some good news to report. look at san francisco and santa cruz. the sea breeze coming off the ocean is cleaning out our arabic. we still have some haze and smoke lingering for walnut creek and a little bit around emeryville. air quality is pretty good across the region. it is poor for sensitive groups and it is moderate. let's look at other parts. look how awful the air quality is right around the wildfires area looking at anywhere from unhealthy air. want to show you a live picture from tahoe, it is hard to breathe. they have widespread smoke across the region. near the surface, we will continue to see some smoke and haze. you will notice at 9:00 a.m., watson happens is the these picks up. it will push that smoke out of the bay area at the surface.
