safety measures. abc 7 educational reporter is here with us to look at the decisions that school districts are working with. reporter: some schools started this week and one or two cases that have tested positive. public health professionals that once schools started reopening. you would think they would mandate and the ones telling them that a mandate is not needed is count health departments. by now everyone knows that testing for covid is tracking the spread of the virus but not every health department is not that students be tested like l.a. unified. san francis isased on the local health department. >> right now they are not suggesting surveillance testing

ventilation. >> they are only recommending that students be tested and rely on masks. >> as long as things have those mitigation and contact tracing and the protocols in place, we have found that schools are the safest place for our students to be. reporter: again, san francisco, oakland, recommending not mandating for students who are not vaccinated. san francisco will provide testing across the district at no cost to students as things know, it is not easy getting to those sites. >> oak left hand teachers start this week and teachers and staff know what is going on and
