4:00 a.m. this morning. cornell: ruben was so excited, he signed up -- he showed up 13 hours early. >> last night i could not sleep and it was crazy. but we are having a good time with friends and family and showing the love. cornell: that love has been missing a very long time. saturday's preseason match versus the chiefs is the first niner home game at levi stadium for the fans -- before the fans since january 2020. that was the last time a full capacity crowd was allowed inside. >> it is about can back to normal. it has been a weird year and a half. >> go niners! cornell: but there are new rules for niners fans. >> coming to the stadium, there is only one rule you have to follow, put your mask on when you go inside. whether you disagree or not, you have to wear it. >> keep your family safe, keep

were killed in a devastating 7.2 magnitude earthquake that rocked haiti this morning. a number of buildings have collapsed and residents are buried under the rubble. faith: haiti the state of emergency after a powerful earthquake rocked the country saturday morning. b aerie aftershocks, tremors felt as far away as cuba and jamaica. a tsunami warning was issued but lifted a short time later. the epicenter was 78 miles west of port-au-prince. images from a coastal town in the south showed a church oddly damaged, a crack running through the center. major devastation also in another town, not far from the epicenter. this disaster on the heels of last month's assassination of the haitian president. the countries prime minister already declaring a state of emergency. government officials, relief agencies and you and representatives -- un representatives assessing the

damage. president biden has named an administrative aid to coordinate relief. now, tropical storm grace is headed toward the island and there are concerns haiti could face the same level of devastation scene after an earthquake shattered the country 11 years ago, killing more than 200,000. dion: this country has been through so much. we spoke with the woman in the capital city of port-au-prince who felt the earthquake. it is about 100 miles from the epicenter and not hit as hard as other parts of the country, even so, the quake sent people running into the street. >> i feel that something is happening. i definitely know, because the first earthquake we did not know what was it? but after that experience, i know it is an earthquake and i

today, new information on a supplemental does. santa clara county officially offering third doses to those with weakened immune systems, a day after the cdc approved the supplemental shots. those who are eligible can book through the county website or health care provider. health officials are planning to do mobile clinics starting next week. among those who are eligible, include cancer patients and organ transplant recipients. nationwide, cvs and walgreens are administering covid-19 booster shots for those with compromised immune systems. to the peninsula, where you might need proof of vaccination at businesses in san mateo county. the board will discuss the measure. it will be similar to an ordinance san francisco issued on thursday the requires bars, restaurants, clubs, entertainment venues and indoor gems to get proof of vaccination from customers and employees.

the university of san francisco welcomed 500 students back to campus for the first time since the pandemic today. after a year of a virtual learning, the second year student class moved into lone mountain east, the new residence hall. it is the first dorm built on campus for student housing since the 1960's, and for one student and her family, it was a multigenerational celebration. her grandmother and mom both graduated from usf and she is now studying for her own degree after a year at home. >> i think what i have learned so far through the entire pandemic is how important my family is. dion: all of the students are required to be vaccinated, and they will have to wear masks indoors at any large outdoor gatherings. just ahead, a setback in the battle against california's largest wildfire. the latest on the firefight and why some of accu's were delayed getting back to their homes after -- some evacuees were

dion: san francisco's bayview neighborhood making a name for itself with a big and bold statement. abc 7 news was there today for the official unveiling of the eight foot tall letters and park at that greet people at third street near mead avenue. letters installing out "bayview" were installed in april and are supposed to be visible from highway 101. crews wrapped up with landscaping and covering the letters with colorful tiles from the neighborhood. getting to the weather now, all eyes on the haze, which seems to be moving out. >> one more day of moderate air quality and monday, fresh air moving in and clear skies. we have a couple of things going on on the camera. can see the marine layer very close to the surface right now. he will expand a bit tonight but not widespread fog. just a slightly above the marine layer. can you see the thin layer of

haze? that haze will sit over us again tomorrow and create moderate air quality for a second day. current air quality right now inland, where we have moderate air quality, we have the evening push of green layer bringing fresh air to the bay shoreline where we have good air quality at this hour. closer to the fires across northern careful -- northern california, the air quality quickly declines. it is unhealthy because of the amount of smoke these fires are putting out. let's timeout the smoke for you. tomorrow, the thickest smoke stays to the east but we anticipate some haze in the atmosphere again with the moderate air quality. watch what happens on monday. a stronger influence of that marine air and will rid our sky of a lot of smoke. expect by monday afternoon, blue skies to prevail. tomorrow, air quality 2.5 levels, moderate across the bay area. we are in that category bay area

wide. the other story, we were hot. we exceeded 100 degrees in several cities, including brentwood, where we have cooled down to 98. 102 in clear lake. cooler in the city, down to 61. 64 in oakland. 75 currently in san jose. overnight tonight, cloud cover pretty much limited to the immediate coastline with patchy fog. other than that, many, hazy skies, and in the 60's and 70's. hour-by-hour, 10:00 tomorrow morning, the fog already pulling back to the coastline. 60's close to the water, 70's in warmest spots at that hour. by noon, we are warming up quickly inland, warmer spots into the 90's in the afternoon. highs tomorrow similar to today. hot inland again, 100 in antioch, 88 in santa rosa.

the sea breeze keeps san francisco at 66. 83 in san jose. 106 in cloverdale. 106 in -- we in effect. all about moderate air quality tomorrow, hot inland. better air quality monday but the heat hangs on tuesday, and that's when we get widespread relief. that is a steady pattern for the rest of the seven day forecast. chris: the 49ers preseason schedule is underway, san francisco hosting kansas city at levi's stadium. there is a lot of excitement surrounding the game. it is preseason warm up video, how fun is this? i am way too excited about it. how excited is that guy? number five makes his debut tonight. jimmy garoppolo played one series and then the starter out of harm's way.

abc 7 news at 11:00. finally, athletes competed today in san francisco's first ever escape aquathon. the escape from alcatraz triathlon hosted the event to mark its 30th anniversary. the swim/run short course raise was designed to get more athletes involved. the winners were from san francisco and cuba city, wisconsin. nearly 2000 athletes will take on the triathlon tomorrow.
