j.r.: it does not look good tonight. the damage is extensive and you can see that on one side of me, a burned-out car with melted tires and then on the others, you can see these crews sprang down some of the hotspots. 1600 people are under mandatory evacuations. flames shooting into the air wednesday afternoon in clear lake. entire structures on fire as sky seven flew about. >> seven air tankers, five helicopters, 28 engines, five gaucher's -- dozers. >> they got the call before 1:00 , immediately responding to a situation involving flames, wind, dry brush, and lots of homes. >> the initial attack was to evacuate and save lives. their support augmented that so it was a combination of both. >> dozens of homes were

destroyed at the creekside mobile home park. some were able to save the animals but sadly, several goats died. witness is telling us they first noticed in the red and black rv on fire nearby. >> it was on fire for a a while because it was blazing from the inside and outside. they just abandoned it. >> they were short crews due to resources that have been directed and sent to the fire. 80 acres burned. the 20 to 30 mile-per-hour winds were a problem and intensified during the fight. >> the amount of damage contained in these 80 acres is overstating. >> those who lived here tell us they did not know they were leaving their home for the last time. >> you have to move right away. i have my dog and my medication. a couple blankets and pillows. >> david stefan saying there is now nothing left. >> come back and try and walk up

restored in lake county. outages are impacting around 1200 customers. 200 customers to the south of the fire zone were in the dark because of a planned public safety shut off. dan: today's fire may have been spread into the burn scar area left by the clayton fire. it burned in the same area five years ago this week, destroying 189 homes. a clear lake man was arrested for starting it. he is serving a 15 year prison sentence in state prison for this extremely fast-moving fire in clear lake was fueled by a low humidity and gusty winds today in the north bank. ama: meteorologist sandy patel has a look at the current conditions. >> we are in a temporary lull near the fire. the winds have eased. it is cooler. emitted he has gone up 48%. the concern is the winds are beginning to pick up over the hills.

mount diablo is out of the northwest. 25 miles per hour. we are going into another round of gusty winds. red flag warning begins tomorrow and it is for lake, mendocino, and solano county. record dry fuels. any fires can spread rapidly including the fire at cache creek. just a concern here as winds pick up at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. 29 mile-per-hour winds. 27 miles per hour going into 11:00 a.m., so the fire danger is still running high. i will be back with a look at the smoke forecast, coming up. ama: let's move to the cal door fire. -- to this fire. unprecedented fire behavior. 62,000 acres have been wiped out. 50 homes have been destroyed. the flames are moving close to communities along the highway 50

corridor to tahoe. 6800 people are under mandatory evacuation orders. >> the not knowing and the anticipation and the waiting, all that just wears on you. >> how much help do you have for your home in somerset? >> zero. ama: this incredible video from a plane showing clouds spawned by the fire. the threat from this fire is so serious that it is moving engines and personnel from the dixie fire to assist. it is 0% contained. dan: the massive dixie fire meantime has burned another 36,000 acres since yesterday. it has burned more than 662,000 acres and is moving fast and east towards susanville. 18,000 residents have been warned to be ready to evacuate. the fire is 35% contained. a slight improvement over yesterday's 31%.

covid test. no excuses. the warriors in chase center say they will comply with san francisco's guideline at the venues next event, a concert on september 15. san jose city council is voting to require all staff and attendees at any event with 50 or more people at city facilities to have proof of vaccine. the san jose sharks and sap center say they are actively looking at ways to comply. booster shot programs are expanding. on wednesday, san francisco's department of public health began offering a third dose of pfizer or modernity of who are immunocompromised, advanced hiv, or other conditions. >> the hope is that by giving them a third dose, we might be able to trigger their immune systems to respond so those people can also have some protection against covid. kate: the cdc estimates that only 3% of the population meet the immunocompromised criteria but on september 20, booster
