more americans vaccinated. our seven-day test positivity has gone down to four point percent in california. a month ago, it was 7.1%. are down 11%. areas with low vaccination rates continue to struggle. last thursday, a current vaccination hi of the summer was reported. dan: a water tender headed to a brush fire near oakley crashed on its way there. according to the east cost fire district, the firefighter who was driving the truck has minor injuries. which is good to hear, at least he is ok. heavy cables were hooked up to the overturned truck and brought it right side up.

a water tender truck is a tank on wheels, obviously, carrying water to places where there are no fire hydrants. fire crews making progress on two massive wildfires burning in california. this, the 216 absent acre caldor fire you have heard much about -- the 216,000-acre caldor f you have heard much about. and the dixie fire is now 59% contained. it has ripped through 917,000 acres and is now just 115 thousand acres shy of passing last year's august complex fire as the largest wildfire in state history. nearly 6000 homes remain threatened. that fire has destroyed at least 688 homes.

put out a three-month outlook for september through december. the entire state shows drier, more wind events, and large fire activity to continue for the next three months. ama: officials say everyone in the state needs to stay vigilant. if you see smoke, call it in. don't assume some but i just don't assume someone already did. -- don't assume someone already did. sandy: that smoke is still lingering here in the bay area, which is why our air quality is moderate for some parts. we are starting to see some green around livermore, fremont, redwood city. that is the direction we are heading, but right now, the haze over san jose extended because of the wildfire smoke. notice over the next four days we start to see good air quality

for the north bay, even parts of the south central bay will see that. i want to show you something interesting that is unfolding on live doppler 7 just off our coast. we are picking up some tropical moisture and radar returns. we have a slight chance of under. and fire agencies are on my look out for -- on the lookout for a possible arsonist. >> detectives picking through ashes. much time? >> yes, absolutely. >> calfire set all the right things about possible causes. >> 15 fires between a proximally 8:00 in the evening and i believe as late as 9:20.

>> it is supposed to rejuvenate the taxi industry. the san francisco board approved a new pilot program that allows riders the chance to see the fair --re for a before getting in. >> i think the main thing that taxes right now are competitive with ride shares. >> a new monitor uses an algorithm to calculate the fair -- calculate the fare. the hope is to induce riders by eliminating the fear of not knowing the fare until the trip is done. it could be as simple as using a phone app to go up to a cab to find out the fare before you even get in, but despite the proposal, some drivers do not want to see anything change.

it's not good. >> these drivers do not want to see the program change. they are afraid the new system will be wrong and drivers will be charged more money. some riders think it could make them take a taxi over a rideshare. the taxi union says it should work because it will help show the public the cost of a taxi is not much different than a rideshare. they say in some cases, it could be cheaper. they just needed a way to show people it before they start flagging down a cab. >> a new study has found america's workforce is growing older and more diverse.

dan: michael finney has a look at that and today's headlines. >> data shows that since 1970 up, the percentage of teenage workers has significantly dropped while the percentage of workers 65 and older has more than doubled. analysts believe this flip is a result of an aging baby boomer generation, longer lifespans, and less of a reliance on physically strenuous work. they also believe the shrinking teen workforce is due to an increased focus on education. the ftc is in the process of sending out nearly 5000 checks to consumers who lost money in a scheme that offered to help them finance personal computers and other electronic devices. the ftc first sued blue hippo, and i first told you about it, after the company promised to finance new products for customers. they collected money from the customers and failed to provide those products, nor disclose key

terms of the refund policy. even after agreeing to a court settlement back in 2008, the government says the company continued the deceptive practices, leading to lengthy court battles the ftc ultimately won a decade later in 2019. tiktok users now spend more time each month watching content than youtube users. a new study finds tiktok users typically log more than 24 hours of content each month. youtube users spend an average of 22 hours 40 minutes a month. youtube still beats tiktok in total time. youtube has 2 billion users. tiktok, about 700 million. dan: a lot of people. ama: i was afraid he was going to say 24 hours' worth in 24 hours, but that did not happen. it appears some thieves in the south bay may have picked the wrong target.

their every move was tracked after they removed a box from a curbside delivery dropbox. david louis shows us what was inside that box. >> it was a routine day. they had an order dropped in their dropbox. >> it showed no sign of the package and that's when we started investigating. >> security video shows a car possibly involved in the theft as it pulled into the parking lot. >> the trackers were actually on and were on their way to a customer to actually track the covid vaccine, so it was an urgent shipment that had to be delivered within a couple of days, so they were all active and fully charged. >> there were 20 trackers like these in the shipping box, valued at $1500. it is not known if the suspects knew what the devices were or what they do. a consided valuabe tools to keep tabs on the
