feeling blessed this morning. i've got my new shirt on, from the slim section. very happy about that. here is a look at what is going on from south beach. you can see it is pretty quiet out there. clouds are lining up along the coast and they will make a late charge to the east as we head through the morning commute. temperatures mainly around 50 degrees and you can see the rapid warming inland with 80's already. 70's elsewhere with 60's along the coast and by 4:00, we will have 60's in the same spot, 75 to 80 around the bay but look at those 80's in the north bay and nine lanes inland -- 90's inland. 60's and 70's, they are not even up. >> today is the day, the call cl

the polls for the recall election open in less than two hours. governor newsom and his republican opponents are making their last push. the governor even getting support from the president. amy hollyfield joins us live in walnut creek. amy: good morning. it is the day when places like this church in walnut creek turn into polling places. it doesn't usually happen in september but here we are. this recall election has captured the attention of president joe biden. he made his first visit to california as president, yesterday and he was here to support governor gavin newsom. he campaigned alongside the governor. the president told supporters this election could have dire consequences if they don't get out and vote. >> you either keep gavin newsom as your governor, or you will get donald trump.

much of the country. jobina is at the live desk with why it will get worse for one age group in particular. jobina: millions of students are back in classrooms or in person learning and with children under 12 stunt not able to get a vaccine, we know there is a lot of anxiety for parents, teachers and doctors. more than 243,000 children tested positive just last week, as the second-highest weekly case count ever, with approval for a vaccine for kids not expected until late next month. doctors are warning we should expect even more cases in the coming weeks. >> we are going to see a slight uptick, just because more exposure and also this delta variant is a little more sticky than the alpha variant. jobina: for all age groups, the u.s. is averaging 12 covid-19 deaths a day, six times the death toll from two months ago.

vaccination rates are still increasing with more americans seeking out shots, week over week. florida's governor is fighting vaccine mandates, threatening to fine cities that approve them. governor desantis says he wants to protect florida jobs with this move. kumasi: san francisco will hold vaccination clinics at four public schools throughout the city. clinics launch this week at malcolm x academy and others. some will be open on evenings and weekends. the school district is teaming up with the department of public health to host these clinics, aimed at expanding vaccine access to lower income communities. reggie: some families will receive free covid-19 test kits. the idea is to have the students take the rapid test at home for going to school, if they are feeling sick. results come back in roughly 15 minutes. it is part of a pilot program starting this week at nine schools. if this works, all school

kumasi: san jose bay zoo is planning to operate -- zoom is planning to offer live translations at the end of the year. the plan is to eventually translate as many as 30 languages. the company didn't announce which languages would be included but the new feature will be available to users who have paid accounts. zoom acquired a german translation company in june and is using its machine learning technology for this new feature. reggie: apple cofounder steve wozniacki has joined the private space race. he is behind a new company, privateer space which promises to keep space safe and accessible to all humankind. no word yet on exactly how he plans to do that. kumasi: simone biles is heading to the bay area later this month as part of the elliptical medalist gold over america tour. that is goat for short. she is on gma this morning talking about the show and what fans can expect. >> we will have some of the top tiered gymnasts in the world as
