weather. a precursor to that is as cold front. you can see the rain in seattle and portland that will be descending through the bay area. we will see may be 0.2 inches of rain. this goes into effect through tuesday. relative humidity will drop off in the hills about 1000 feet north. it is in the mid 50's in berkeley. it is 59 in nevada. southwinds will keep it busy. from the north bay to mount st. helena, it is dry out there. we have a few light sprinkles in napa. we have a lot of cool temperatures in breezy wins. we will see more sunshine in the east they. heiser only in the 70's inland. only are we talking about a fire weather watch, we are talking about 80's in the city as we get toward tuesday. details are coming up.

amanda: nearly a dozen police officers are being disciplined after an instagram account with problematic posts. we break down at what happened and how it is impacting the department. >> seven current and three former oakland police officers are under fire for social me to behavior that violates department policy. >> they have to be held to a high standard. they have weapons and the authority to put their hands on people to make arrests. >> it started in january after the discovery of an instagram account created by a former officer. it contained misogynistic and racist content. following an investigation, the mayor's office said of the officers in question will face disciplinary action. ranging from unpaid suspension. >> why are they still there? why are they in the department

if they have these attitudes and views. it >> new rules of been laid out. that includes one where officers will have to reveal all of their social media accounts and passwords so the apartment can inspect. many say the consequences amount to nothing more than a slap on the wrist. it >> we are already under law enforcement presence. we are giving our children to talk about how to survive law enforcement. >> the department has been under federal oversight for years because of past scandals. with the supervision set to end in the near future, this just proves it is still needed and more work needs to be done. amanda: two of governor newsom's children have tested positive for covid-19. spokesperson said the governor, his wife and two children tested negative.

oldest trees. forest service officials say protecting homes and lives as a number one party. they are trying to protect the giant sequoias, using special blankets. we spoke with the researcher on the ground in the forest about what long-term solutions could protect the treasure. >> as flames burnett, firefighters are implementing a new strategy in hopes of saving the world's largest trees. >> fire blankets have been used for long time to protect structures. >> what is the purpose? >> to prevent embers from getting into the trees. those structure wraps are employed along with the fuels. >> the 1000-year-old trees adapt fires. the intensity of the latest wildfires have overwhelmed many of the trees.

a team of scientists are surveying the damage of the 2020 fire. >> the branches no longer exist. some grow up during the fires. it >> last year, about 10,006 trees burned. that's about 14% of the population at that park. the concern is what is going to happen this year. professor stevens is looking for long-term solutions to save the trees. he hopes these wraps won't be necessary in the future. >> we are never going to get out of this whole and we will chase our tales forever. we need to do 10 times more restoration annually. >> you can keep track with the wildfire tracker. you can find it on our website.

a 4.3 magnitude earthquake rattled los angeles county last night. the epicenter wasn't carson but felt as far as san diego. the shaking caused the marathon refinery to lose power. it led to a massive flaring event. this is actually a normal safety measure. fire officials are assuring neighbors they are not in danger. >> everything went up and i hit the ground. i don't want to die like this. amanda: he is the owner of us hair salon. he was in the middle of a haircut when the earthquake hit. it did not receive any reports of damage. we want to check with lisa. we know there is some rain in the forecast. lisa: a cold front is to the north of us. it is going to sweep through the

for a pfizer booster shot. an advisory panel recommended the third those for those over 65 and others at high risk. the panel voted against a third shot for all americans over 16. we have the details. >> an independent fda panel not voting for pfizer booster shots for all vaccinated americans. they voted to authorize boosters for americans 65 or older. the panel also voting to authorize a third dose for americans of any age who are at high risk. >> you have a unanimous 18 tina fey team who voted yes. >> the fda will take the vote in the consideration. there will be a final decision within days. the white house said the administration will provide boosters to americans.

the front is still holding together and looking at the overnight hours, allowing for a few sprinkles. by 3:00 in the morning, it has pushed down through the peninsula. what happens. we like the idea that it is allowing for more moisture to come our way. this is what happens behind the system. you can see how breezy it is from the south. we will get into tomorrow afternoon and the wind shifted to a normally -- northerly component. the winds allow for rapid warming and drying out the atmosphere from the upper level elevations.
