11:00 on abc seven and wherever you stream. let's get to drew tuma. tracking showers and a weather watch. drew: a lot going on. anywhere from 1/10 to a quarter of an inch of rainfall as the weakening front moves through. i want to show you where we have showers in marin county, moving through bolinas, stinson beach. on its way into the city. san francisco will get some light rainfall. the system in the pacific northwest, we have seen several inches of rain from portland, seattle, we are on the tail end of the system. it is weakening moving south. storm impact scale, a level one light storm. tracking light showers and drizzle. by the sunrise, it is all clearing out behind the storm system. winds picking up. the increase in our fire danger. the weather watch about to go

into effect in our forecast in a few minutes. dion: because of the dry winds and other weather conditions, pg&e is warning of the possibility of a public safety power shut off in a dozen northern california counties monday. in the bay area, solano, napa, and sonoma -- sonoma could be affected. pg&e says there is a reasonable chance of a psps, so they are encouraging customers to be prepared. if there is, it can last into tuesday. through the santa cruz mountains. the residents of one small town are all for fire mitigation efforts. they are also fed up after having power shut off for three weekends in a row as part of a different prevention program. abc7 news reporter tim's john took concerns to pg&e. >> for three weekends in a row, residents of the small town have had their power shut off unexpectedly. >> this has started to get

really extreme. three weeks in a row, no communication, and anything can set this power outage. it is getting a little crazy. reporter: amanda king is a resident. the power company notified customers they would be taking new steps to prevent wildfires in their area. residents support wildfire prevention measures, what they are really looking for is better communication from pg&e. pg&e's new measures include shutting off power lines without notice when they deem there could be a risk for fires. with the sudden shutoffs happening three times in a row, many are growing increasingly frustrated. not least of all, they say, because they are not notified why the power is actually being turned off. >> if you look around, it is not windy or terrible weather. the curiosity is what is causing them to shut it off. reporter: winds, an animal, even

a kite can trigger the automatic shut off. once a line is off, it has to be inspected before it can be switched back on. pg&e says they have heard complaints clearly and are working on solutions, including adding more staff to ensure lines are turned back on more quickly. >> we are taking steps to improve the safety measure, including fine-tuning the sensitivity of each of these devices. reporter: for residents, regaining trust could take quite some time. >> pg andy completely unreliable at this point. reporter: in londa, tim johns. dion: the kmp complex fir complx grown to over 17,000 acres and has now reached the edge of the giant forest in sukhoi a national park. it is home to a grove of the famous and endangered giant sequoia trees. crews have already wrapped up the tree in foil to protect it from the heat and flames.

the complex fire is currently at 0% contained. burning south of the complex fire is the windy fire. it continues to grow along the tule river reservation at into the sequoia national forest. linda how has more on the challenges firefighters are facing battling displays. >> the windy fire raging on the river reservation in the sequoia national forest. already scorching more than 18,000 acres and is 0% contained. >> this area is beautiful, but also dangerous. reporter: the flames threatening homes, businesses, and historic sequoia trees, prompting mandatory evacuation orders for johnson dell, ponderosa, quaking valley, and camp would set. >> please leave. >> they are doing everything they can on the ground and in the air to protect the 1700

structures threatened by the flames. wrapping buildings at the mule peek look out with burn resistant aluminum rep. >> they have set up sprinklers, cleared the fuel on the ground to keep the fire away. if it does burn, keep it low intensity. >> firefighters up against high temperatures, bone dry conditions, and steep terrain. a cold front sweeping through on top of that. >> that is dangerous when it comes to firefighting in the wildland setting. we are constantly looking at fire behavior and the wind direction. it can change and put people in danger quickly. >> resources are stretched thin as cruiser battling fires across california. more boots will be on the ground as the windy fire is expected to grow overnight. >> it has been tough for everybody this year. we used to call it a fire season, but it is pretty much a year-long thing.

out covid-19 vaccines. it is one of four locations in san francisco schools designed to make it easier for children 12 and older to get vaccinated. >> we started at 10:30. right when 10:30 struck, started getting folks coming in to get vaccinated. reporter: each site can administer 16 doses a day. according to the san francisco health department, the city has a great vaccination rate amongst children. around 90% of fully activated -- are fully vaccinated. doctors say it is best not to wait. >> we have to make it as convenient as possible for kids to get vaccinated so parents don't have to take too much time off of work so it fits into the cadence and routine. reporter: what the school district is doing now can have a big impact in the coming months. getting vaccinated now can help children develop enough antibodies before winter arrives. >> influenza will be coming.

costing mayor london breed the trust of some residents dining out this weekend. >> if she didn't wear the mask, nobody has to wear the mask. actually, i'm going to take mine off right now. >> this restaurant owners has her actions were unfair after all of the restrictions they have had to follow to remain open. >> especially for restaurant owners. a lot of my friends shut down their business already, they failed. i'm still here, but we are still fighting. >> it is impossible to police his customers if they are not actively eating while indoors. >> you cannot eat with a mask, you cannot use the mask and eat reporter:, no way. reporter:on friday, the mayor did not apologize, and said she was in compliance with the health order because she was eating and drinking. >> to be clear, i did everything i thought was appropriate. reporter: so more supportive of the mayor, but did not agree

with her latest actions. >> i'm sad london breed had this moment of not thinking. in comparison to all of the good she has done. reporter: we went to the heart of san francisco's north beach neighborhood, where vaccine cards were being checked out almost every restaurant before dining indoors. >> if you are putting it down your mask, what is the difference if you are not eating and you are wearing the mask? if you have corona, it is already spread. so it doesn't make sense. >> it depends on the place. if you are going into a cvs, everyone will have a mask. in a bar, good luck enforcing that. reporter: in san francisco, luz pena. dion: workers at kaiser permanente across california went on strike. we saw a group picketing outside of the hospital in oakland. they are members of local 39 and help maintain. . operations at kaiser facilities

in a statement, kaiser said its buildings are open and running as they should, and added "we have met with local 39 a total of nine times for bargaining since july, including today, have temer 18th. we are pleased to have reached agreement with agreements in the contract and look forward to future bargaining sessions to complete the remainder." firefighters from across the country who died in the line of duty are now included on a memorial in their honor. ♪ >> memorial remembers was held virtually today. the names of 220 five firefighters and emergency medical personnel were etched onto the wall of honor at memorial park in colorado springs. they include 19 people who died from illnesses linked to toxic exposure at the world trade center, and 24 others who died from covid-19. four firefighters from the bay

area are among the honorees, including jason cortez, a san francisco firefighter who died last year during the training exercise. the south bay is getting a financial boost to help prevent wildfires. several million dollars will be going to los gatos, cupertino, and saratoga, as well as the clara county fire department. lawmakers presented the check today at the art and wine festival. local officials made the request for the funds after last year's devastating complex fires. the money will help with not only prevention, but emergency preparedness. the bay area cosign is cleaner tonight, thanks to volunteers who spent. to the annual coastal cleanup day. it is thompson creek in san jose. the valley water districts says cleanup events took place in every city in the county. >> last year during the california coastal cleanup, we

picked up nearly 47,000 pounds of trash. this year, because of covid, we have smaller groups. we also encourage folks to register online and go out in their own neighborhoods and pick up trash. dion: 100 people registered online to volunteer on their own. volunteers who took part in the group events were students from andrew hill and you're bowing a high school. here's a good sign out of the south bay. a camera belonging to the south bay clean creek's coalition caught beavers building a dam. they were a lot more common in the bay area years ago, but as humans moved in, those beavers were forced out. let's get a check of the weather with drew tuma. we are watching the winds. >> all part of a system moving through as many of us sleep over the next couple of hours. tomorrow night kicks of our winds. live doppler 7 right now.

a couple of isolated showers. i want to focus in on parts of marin county in san francisco. the cell working to the south and east. it is wet through stinson beach as it pushes to the south and east. zooming in closer to street level. it is moving into the presidio, richmond, the marina. it will continue moving over the city over the next 15 to 20 minutes or so. light showers at this moment. a really welcome sight. outside from our exploratory in camera. foggy and misty. some light showers moved through the city. showers today, mainly in the north bay. like what we expected with the weakening system. thunderosa, close to .10 inches. much higher in elevation in tan, more rainfall. even in the oakland hills. picked up a few hundredths of an inch of rain. on the storm impact scale, a

system we are tracking through the next six hours or so. light showers moving through, rainfall estimates very light. it could turn breezy from time to time. overnight, cloud cover out there. temperatures remain elevated underneath the cloud cover. 50's to low 60's first thing tomorrow morning. once the sun gets up here, clouds and showers are out of here. tomorrow will turn into a beautiful looking day. tons of sunshine, light winds. temperatures below average. 67 in the city tomorrow. 73 in oakland. low to mid 80's in lid will feel nice. 78 in santa rosa. tomorrow is the best day, in terms of the next seven, when it comes to air quality. no matter where you live, air quality is good, so breathe in the fresh air. our concern turns too late tomorrow night through monday. winds will turn gusty. a fire weather watch. watching for the east bay hills,

parts of the north bay. also solano county. winds turn gusty. this time of the year with onshore wind, it is a dry wind, warm wind, it elevates fire danger. here is the wind forecast. early monday morning, our concern is highlighted in parts of lake and napa county. could gust over 30 miles per hour in our hills. that continues through the morning on monday. monday will see some light winds during the day. early tuesday morning, winds picking up. they not only dry us out, but offer in some warm temperatures. here is the seven day forecast. some early morning drizzle while we are sleeping. nothing but sunshine and nice day tomorrow. monday, winds picking up. fire danger turns high. it turns warm.
