not have been intense but it made a mess. thousands lost power and power poles caught fire. the outage map this morning showed the bulk of people without electricity, primarily in richmond and el cerrito. this does not include the people that could have the power shut off tonight for the winds. we got an explanation as to what went wrong. reporter: from the light rain caused power outages for customers. >> it has been a dry spell and then the first mist, light rain comes along and turns that dust and everything accumulating on the lines into a mud mixture. and causes an outage. reporter: with most of the outages occurring in the richmond el cerrito area. the outages are scattered throughout the east bay. for them, they do not have power.

sunrises here. the winds will pick up early afternoon and in onshore breeze will kick in. that will lessen our fire danger. that fire danger is high to very high. it peaks here at 9-10 9-10 morning with those strongest winds occurring in the north bay. and then into the afternoon as the winds weekend rapidly, our fire danger lessons. the red flag warning expires at 8 p.m.. tomorrow is one of those signatures september days where it is warm-hot no matter where you live. about that high fire danger in the morning. especially in the hills of napa county. that warning expires at 8 p.m.. les went tuesday but it is a hotter day.
