entertainment venues, and bars. doctors say this makes sense, and the manager says there have been no problems. >> we put up signage leading up to this so they knew what to expect coming in. they just check in at the front door and come in. >> we require vaccination for many other settings, aside from the covid-19 vaccination. vaccination requirements for kids to be in school. >> some who work at the front of businesses like restaurant hostesses, are worried that people who don't like this will take it all -- take it out on them. this is coming from county government. 85 percent of eligible residents in koster cost -- contra costa county are vaccinated but this is needed to save lives, according to officials. julian: there are reasons to be

encouraged about what we are doing to slow this -- slow the spread of covid-19. the positivity rate dropped to 2.9% in california, the lowest it has been since july. as of monday, the seven-day average daily case rate is 22 per 100,000 people and even lower in the bay area, where only 13 out of every 100,000 are testing positive. some counties are doing even better. 11 out of 100 thousand people testing positive in san francisco, san mateo, and santa clara counties. only 10 out of 100,000 positive in marin county. we are learning more about their key to success when it comes to vaccination rates. they are reporting more than 90% of eligible people are fully vaccinated and more than 97% have received at least one shot. we asked the public county health officer how the county is getting so many shots into arms.

no reports of serious injuries. kumasi: the commitment to build a better bay area is moving to oakland on what can be done regarding the violence problem. it reported its 100th homicide this year and the city approved an additional police academy that will eventually mean more officers on the street. it will take 18 months to complete training and will not start until next year. >> we continue to live amongst the weight of too many lives lost and calls being unanswered. >> gun violence is not the problem. it is the violence that everybody experiences every day in neighborhoods that are not resourced. kumasi: the resolution passed 6-2. oakland has less than 700 officers. julian: many believe access to

international airport is requiring vaccinations for employers -- employees. thousands work at the airport. >> service providers, shops and restaurants, and construction workers who might be at a job at the airport, all are required to be vaccinated. kumasi: employers can excuse employees for a medical or religious exemption. companies will be required to submit reports on the vaccination status of employees. they can go as far as issuing fines for noncompliance. julian: oakland unified will consider a proposal to have all students vaccinated -- vaccinated for covid-19. vaccination rates within the district are already on the

right track. this month, sam davis, vice president of the school board, told us 73% of young people in oakland have at least one shot. kumasi: teachers in the west contra costa school district have filed a complaint over covid-19 concerns. the complaint was submitted last month. the teachers union said schools failed to hold regular covid testing for students, to sanitize classes after positive cases, and to notify staff exposed. the school board was supposed to vote on a mandate this week but that has been canceled. julian: president biden is expanding an effort to get more people around the world vaccinated. the united states is buying another fund -- 500 million vaccinations for other countries. he will also call on other world leaders to commit to a 70%

julian: the search goes on for gabby petito's boyfriend, brian laundrie. nobody has heard from him in a week and authorities believe he knows what happened to his girlfriend. jobina: the body found near grand teton national park is gabby petito. they've ruled her death a homicide but the official cause of death is being investigated. her boyfriend, ryan laundrie, is the only person of interest. his family has not seen him since last tuesday. they resumed the search for him yesterday at the carlton reserve in florida. >> we have multiple drone operators sent out in numerous teams. jobina: 500 miles away, a
