recommendation. several of the cdc panel those were based on the concerns the logistics were in place for all these extra shots but i spoke to officials in san mateo county saying they are ready and will continue to rely primarily on pharmacies for booster shots going forward. i am kate larsen, abc 7 news. >> the state of california is considering a map -- a vaccine mandate for all notable students. howhowhow implemented and what will happen to those who refused to get the vaccine to be determined. >> this is on the table, it is being debated. over the next few days, we will come out with some recommendations. course gavin newsom says the state could have a decision soon on whether to require all eligible students ages 12 and up to be vaccinated. making sure students are vaccinated is a problem for

oakland unified. the number of fully vaccinated students is close to 60%. >> the infections have been really disruptive. students have to leave on quarantine and if they are sick, it takes a while for them to be able to come back. >> the school board voted to have the students get the vaccine. it excludes those with medical issues or religious beliefs but it is not clear if those who refuse to get it will be -- will be banned from school. >> there are no perimeters set about how it will be in effect, how it is enforced, those are things that the staff will have to work out. >> the mandate will not go in effect until january 1 2022. this way there will be no distal -- no disruptions in the classroom. it gives the district time to inform more students and their communities. the school district invited a ucf doctor to speak about the benefits of the vaccine.

when we attended that it was obvious to some students were not getting the right information about the vaccine. >> there are a lot of things that people say, you feel super sick and this and that. i think it is different for everyone. i felt fine after my shot. my arm was a little sore. these schoolthese schoolthese sl statewide mandate would help bolster their actions. >> the more people who are saying this is the right thing to do, that this will help the individual and us collectively, the better off we will be. quite the mandate does not apply to students younger than 12. in oakland, leanne melendez, abc 7 news. >> teachers and students are breathing easier inside san francisco schools.

stream is often low in the fall. this year, just 42%, it is the boat launch that is high and dry. completely unusable. >> we are uncomfortable right now. it is not as dire as it can be but we are preparing for those more dire situations to come. >> so far, they have declared a drought emergency. they asked to their 1.4 million customers to conserve just 10% and only on a voluntary basis. to the east, the water district is in a similar situation. it's made storage is currently at 65% capacity. see cwd is only asking for a voluntary reduction and also, just 10%. >> we are following the long-term drought contingency plans we have put in place. water agencies in the bay area have different water supplies, we are dependent on the delta for our water supply.

that is what we are directly diverting but that is how we fill the reservoir. >> it is what happens in the next few months that will determine if the east bay water district will move to higher drought tears. >> we are hoping for rain this winter. we want a cold, wet winter. >> this is what it looks like right now. we will have another measu measu that east bay mud will take. they are going to activate their pumps at their freeport facility. this will help with a here in the bay area.
