think you for joining us, i'm dan ashley. reporter: i'm liz. you are watching abc 7 news, live on abc 7, hulu live, and wherever you stream. authorities say the man was linked to several other crimes over the last six months. abc 7 news reporter has the story. reporter: the san francisco district attorney says police were able to locate garcia after he robbed a woman last week as she was getting out of her car. her stolen backpack had a laptop, which police tracked, he has been went to many bbatgack . all of the victims were asian women, many monolingual cantonese speakers, ranging in age from 18 to 61. some of the women were pulled to the ground or drag. >> eventually the police were able to identify a suspect and bring us evidence of what amounts to a string of violent crimes. i am pleased that the evidence

confrontation. fd is in custody and on administrative leave after officers responded to a disturbance last week at a part -- according to investigators, he is accused of sexually assaulting an 18-year-old woman. is accused of using a guitar to vandalize the apartment, tearing down curtains, breaking a bookcase and smashing a tank that was home to a big lizard. investigators say shut off his fire alarm -- firearms collection and told the guests he would shoot each of them. the district attorney spoke about the case. >> my message is clear. we will hold people who commit crimes accountable. it does not matter what your job is, what uniform you wear, what color your skin is. if you commit a crime in san francisco, we will hold you accountable. dan: is due in court tomorrow. officers confiscated three guns and ammunition they found his home while serving a search warrant. in the north bay, a large brawl

[applause] reporter: flanked by state senators and state assembly members come up governor gavin newsom signed 27 bills that deal with housing affordability, from helping students find housing to promoting the conversion of surplus land across the state into housing developments to further streamlining accessory welding units. why sign the bills in oakland? oakland and the entire bay area are ground zero for both the problem and the solution. the problem is affordability, that starts with housing. the solutions are projects like this one. coliseum connections apartments used modular housing to quickly construct half market rate in half affordable units across the street from a bart station.

project, closer to finish today. it took a test ride on it. this is the first time we've seen the trains emotion, something that has been nearly two decades in the making. voters approved the central subway into thousand three come up the project has been plagued with delays. today, thanks len y. >> the train has to go under bart at market street and come up into chinatown, 120 feet below the surface. we were able to do all of that excavation in a tiny postage stamp sized construction site. liz: the central subway is slated to open in 2022 and will serve some of san francisco's busiest most populated areas. trains will travel underground from the 4th street caltrain station to chinatown to bypass the heavy traffic on fourth and stockton treats -- streets.
