this happened just before 1:30 this morning on interstate 80. chp says multiple cars were involved. the on-ramp from a for remains closed. the crash did leave others injured. it is unclear how many people there are or what the condition is at this time. the giants journey to hopefully clinch their first division title since 2012 continues today. a sold out crowd packed into oracle park yesterday and did their best to cheer on the giants against the padres. after the giants lost 3-2, the dodgers had a chance to stay alive in the email west standards -- in the west standings. >> we would have liked to punch our ticket today and do it ourselves. that is baseball. i thought we played a hell of a

helpless. minutes later, police arrived. he heard the news that his neighbor had been killed. >> he was a friend. i stayed up all night until i saw him leaving in the coroner's vehicle. >> he heard two gunshots. this police scanner describes the other victim's injury. >> we will need medical. >> adina identified his neighbor as dirk tillotson, and education blogger. he was pronounced dead on scene. his wife is in stable condition. homicide investigators were at the house searching for answers. police have not released any information regarding the suspect. >> i am the same age as the person who was shot. shakeby t news, residentme.ysf?

about what the earthquakes mean. >> two quakess shok the east bay. friday night, around 7:00, a 3.0 earthquake, and 3.5 magnitude earthquake just before 12:30 in the afternoon. both were centered around the same area. >> foreign and raised in california. always feel them. >> this is how the fault behaves. this should be treated as a reminder that at some point in the future we will experience a large fault earthquake. this was not that. >> the earthquakes were felt throughout the bay area as far north as vallejo and as far south as san jose. he lives about 18 miles from san leandro. he says earthquakes tend to happen in clusters and that

>> authorities in florida made the sad announcement that the body believed to be 19-year-old mia mark canha has been found. investigators discovered the remains in a wooded area of orange county. she went missing september 24 from her apartment complex in florida. a maintenance worker at the apartments building used a master key to enter the victims building. >> everything is in place. she has everything set up a certain way. when we got there, it was in a mess. >> ca monday, a person of interest in the case. marcano's cause of death has yet to be determined. thousands took to the streets to protest for women's rights. this was a look at washington, d.c. the group headed straight to the

supreme court. abortion rights were a big part of yesterday's rallies, amid fears lawmakers and the courts will further restrict access. locally, people marched in each region of the bay area yesterday. today, there will be more rallies. at noon, demonstrators will gather at the federal building in san francisco. another march will be held at jefferson avenue in redwood city. vernell bernard was at a march in san francisco yesterday where sunset the stakes could not be higher this year. >> abortion rights under attack. what do we do? >> [indiscernible] >> a rallying cry supporting women's reproductive rights. >> i am here so my daughters can be protected and have their rights assured. men don't control our bodies. >> i am a registered nurse. abortion is a health care right for women. >> last month, a texas law that

arrive at oakland international airport tonight. this signals the return of fleet week celebrations taking place in san francisco. the event is back after being canceled last year due to the pandemic. the tradition will largely be the same, which means the blue angels and parade of ships. law enforcement agencies say they will be out in force throughout the city. >> we will ensure we have staff out there. staff will be in uniform. the most important thing is to be a visible deterrent to any tomfoolery. >> events begin with a concert next wednesday evening at the san francisco war memorial. the airshow starts next saturday and will run through the weekend. so nice to have that back. the weather might not be as nice next weekend. >> usually when fleet week is here, we have warm weather in san francisco.

thanks for joining us. live on abc seven, hulu live, and wherever you stream. we are going to start out with another look at the weather. i know for some people it is too hot, but i am loving this weather. >> it is a treat for us because we get lots of sunshine. we don't need the jacket in the evening. i want to show you what temperatures look like around the bay area. 45 and half moon bay. los gatos is at 70. most areas are in the 50's at this hour. it is gorgeous outside. looking at home waters across the bay. -- calm waters across the bay. it is going to be sunny and hazy once again. temperatures will be similar to yesterday's heat. inland areas in the mid-90's low 90's. lots of mid-80's. at the coast, look for 60's to near 70.

vaccination site for booster shots will be open for people 65 and older. >> you can ask our vaccine team questions about the covid-19 vaccine. rallying to try to put a stop to school closures in their community. last, cupertino unified announced a series of cost-cutting measures will be voted on. some of those recommendations include closing two elementary schools. the vote will happen at the next board meeting on october 14. if approved, this would be the first time the school district closed any schools in 40 years. oakland unified is saying the schools temporarily shut down this week due to a flea infestation are on track to reopen. last wednesday, students and

as california faces a drought, high schoolers are making a difference to offset the negative impacts on our environment. i got a chance to see firsthand how students are helping to keep salmon alive amid the drought. at costa linda high school, this likely looks different than yours did. the students are part of a one-of-a-kind fish hatchery program, learning about conservation. >> they are doing weight counts. >> bause of extreme drought conditions, this year they have been called upon to take in thousands of salmon at risk of extinction. >> the summer after covid, he said the drought is so bad that these other hatcheries need help. >> dan hughes bochtler explained

usually the salmon are cared for at lake sonoma hatchery. they needed to find the fish a new home. >> ultimately we ended up with fish from mendocino county, the russian river, and santa cruz. >> this hatchery opened in 1993. this is the first time in the program's history that the students have been approached and asked to care for coho salmon. >> they are endangered. it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. >> they need our help. >> the hope is for the salmon to return to the hatchery at lake sonoma this fall. >> we are able to help out with the fish. it allows long-term looking at these young adults being able to step in. it gives them hope for the future. >> we can really make a difference.
