nonexistent. it's about temperatures. now through 7:00, a few 40's and the north bay valley. we will reach near 70 degrees at the coast today, but we will hit 77-83 from noon to 4:00. 84-91 degrees inland. keep it going today. back in the 60's and 70's by 7:00. nearly 20 degrees warmer, it is going to feel like fall with a slight chance of showers. >> hundreds of health-care workers preparing to walk off the job claiming they are understaffed and overworked. amy hollifield joining us live. what is going on right now? amy: they are expecting a large crowd. look at this set up. they tell me the strike is expected to last for five days. they have got a huge set up, lots of food and water that they

have brought in to keep the strikers hydrated. 350 employees are expected to be walking off the job right now. we are not allowed on the property, but we can hear some shouting at the actual hospital, so maybe some action is about to happen here. this is at sutter delta medical center in antioch. 350 health-care workers say they are walking off the job because they are understaffed and they can't take it anymore. they say conditions are dire for caregivers inpatients. workers say it was this way before covid and the pandemic made the situation worse. we do have calls into sutter to ask for a comment on this and the whole situation. we will let you know when we hear back from them. we will be out here all morning to show you this strike and what is supposed to be happening right now. 350 employees.

square miles. it is one of the worst in state history. several orange county beaches remain closed. the oil sneered the coast from huntington beach to newport each, threatening critical habitats and wetlands. the mayor says they have seen fish and birds covered in oil. >> this oil spill constitutes one of the most devastating situations that our community has dealt with in decades. there's oil deposits all along the shore and you can see the oil slicks out in the ocean. >> if broken pipeline about four point five miles offshore caused the leak. the entire amount of oil in the line was released into the ocean. crews have deployed skimming equipment to prevent oil from flowing into the nearby ecological reserve. experts say because the spill is close to the shore, the oceans natural cleaning ability will not be affected. >> in the north bay, a sonoma

county beaches closed after a shark attack happened in the water near bodega bay. luz pena spoke with another surfer and the paramedics who came to the man's rescue. of unexpected fight with a shark. >> we saw the tail fin going down into the water. >> jerrod davis says the victim is a regular surfer named eric. >> he was yelling. he was saying shark. he was saying help. the two of us kind of paddled to shore. it looked like he had a red stripe on his wetsuit. >> that red line was blood. surfers rushed as he struggled to move his injured leg. >> the first thing we did was use a surf leash to apply a

tourniquet. we did that with two separate leashes. >> paramedics arrived on scene. they say the quick response by that group of surfers was crucial. >> the care he got prior to arrival helped save him. the top-of-the-line was not as bad but on the backside, there was a pretty good laceration. he said he got it in the eye. i'm not sure if that meant he punched it or he was just grabbing it. sounded like he had a pretty significant struggle. >> the waters here are part of what is known as the red triangle, an area where there is a high concentration of rate white sharks. >> trying to make peace with the fact that they are out there all the time, share the water with them. >> for the next few days, the beach will be closed for swimming. the server was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive.

-- surfer. reggie: classes are set to resume today at two oakland schools set to close because of a flea investigation. students were sent home so that crews could clean both campuses. the district said it noticed the problem in the middle of last month. experts think the investigation may have started raccoons. dr. anthony fauci is weighing in on governor newsom's vaccine firemen were all students until you. he was asked about the new mandate that goes into effect when the fda fully authorizes the vaccine for younger age groups. dr. fauci: people look at this like this is something novel and new, when in fact, throughout years and years, decades, we have made it a requirement for children to get into schools to get different types of vaccines.

today in the trial of a police officer charged with involuntary manslaughter for shooting and killing a man in 2018. he used unnecessary force when he fired nine shots. this happened at the end of a slow speed chase as the suspect tried to drive his car between two police cars that were blocking him in. his attorney says the shooting the self-defense. a sheriff's investigation after the shooting cleared hall of any wrongdoing. the da announced the charges after hall was involved in a second shooting earlier this year. >> oakland police are investigating the city's 106 homicide of the year. around 3:00 yesterday morning, officers responded to a call of a shooting and then officers say a few moments later, a hospital alerted police about a man from oakland and a woman from fresno who showed up at the hospital with multiple gunshot wound the

woman died. there is no word on any suspects or a motive. reggie: 10 people recovering from injuries after a customer drove their car into a 7-eleven store. the car slammed into the store yesterday. witnesses say a customer accidentally drove into the store after shopping instead of backing up >> i guess she hit the gas instead of the brakes. the car busted into the store and we got about 10 people. reggie: the car when almost all the way into the store. medics took six people to the hospital. no one was seriously hurt. >> new details on a plan to make car-freak routes permanent. officials have announced a proposal for banning cars in the areas between drives. it includes adding more streets in the park. walkers and bikers have been able to enjoy jfk drive without

this week. reggie: hundreds of health-care workers say they are overworked and they are not putting up with it anymore. they walked off the job in antioch. amy is live at sutter medical center. amy: i hope i heard you correctly that it is my turn to start talking. look behind me, this strike is in full effect. it is 5:30 in the morning but they are wide-awake a lot of energy here. they are very loud, very motivated and they are going to be at this for about a week. the union expecting 350 workers to strike. we've also got video to show you of the actual walking off of the job that happened here in antioch. this was just after 5:00 this morning. workers tell us they are tired of being understaffed and they want to make a statement. the conditions are dire for caregivers and patients. these are clerical workers, technicians.

they tell us that patients are still getting care during the strike. >> definitely. the rn's are still in they support us as well. the physicians are still working. they still have a lot of people who are still going to be helping out throughout the process. amy: sutter released a statement saying we value our caregivers and their continued commitment to compassionate, patient care in the face of an unprecedented health crisis, which is why our proposed contract guaranteed pay and benefits are as good or better than others in the area including a 13% pay increase over four years. the hospital brought in replacement workers. these workers chided them as they were pulled in. the workers have to give 10 days notice for a strike at the hospital, so the hospital is able to prepare. they do plan to be back on the

the documents also show how instagram is harmful to teenage girls. studies show the app makes 13% of girls feelings of suicide worse. 17% say it makes eating disorders worse. >> came what is super tragic is that facebook's own research says as these young women begin to consume this eating disorder content, they get more and more depressed. it actually makes them use the app more. and so they end up in this feedback cycle where they hate themselves more and more. reporter: facebook's vp of global affairs says comparing yourself to others is a basic human tendency that can never be eliminated. >> the psychological tendency to compare yourself to others and sometimes therefore feel worse about yourself is not something we are going to change. what we can change is our product. that's why we have announced we are going to give parents of teenagers new, optional controls so they can supervise what their teenagers are doing.
