floyd resolution meant to remove police officers from oakland schools as a district. we're trying to move away from a policing model of discipline school board. vice president. sam. davis says, he originally did not vote for the program but after hearing from community members last night changed his mind. i thought it was just a few police officers coming on campus to to talk to students about discipline issues, but it's actually really a mentorship and building program that really supports and the ways that they need help oakland police department sergeant. robert smith is the program's volunteer executive director without having a conversation with the ok program. they decided to just vote it down because it involved police bishop bob jackson of oakland's acts full gospel church is the ok programs oakland chapter president the misconception that we were some kind of police organization that's operated by the police to get information on black boys so we can incarcerate them. i don't know what they ignorance was around that when in fact we

some indoor mask requirements are easing in alameda county on monday the county and the city of berkeley which has its own public health department will allow certain fully vaccinated groups of people to unmask. this is for businesses not open to the general public with no more than 100 people religious gatherings offices and gyms are included. everyone has to verify that they're fully vaccinated and not experiencing any covid symptoms more rallies are planned tonight supporting in and out refusal. enforce vaccine mandates protesters are planning to demonstrate against vaccine mandates outside the brentwood and pleasant hill locations contra costa county briefly shut down the pleasant hill in and out after multiple citations for not enforcing the indoor mandate it has since reopened but in and out has decided to stop indoor dining at all of its contra costa county restaurants to avoid the mandate the pinole in san ramon restaurants have also received citations. all of those restaurants are open for through and take out service as well as outdoor dining.

you may notice fewer muni buses starting on monday sfmta ispang. there will be a driver shortage because of san francisco's vaccine mandate so they have been forced to suspend several lines the deadline for some city workers to be fully vaccinated. it's coming up fast november 1st the four lines that will be suspended are on your screen there. there is currently no timeline on when services for these lines will be restored now sf. ta is currently hiring and training new operators. a proposal that aims to pressure the san francisco police department and district attorney's office to release more data on domestic violence move forward in committee today, and now goes to the board of supervisors for a full vote abc 7 news reporter stephanie sierra explains how this could affect the handling of these cases moving forward. san francisco supervisor catherine stephanie says, there's clear evidence victims of domestic violence are being short-served in the criminal justice system today. she called on police and the district attorney to do more number of cases presented to the

da stephanie's bill introduced in may would require sfpd and the da's office to start reporting quarterly to the board of supervisors the cityeptmts on domestic violence cases, and the reporting will include how many calls are made to an iowa one that are domestic violence. it and how many of those calls include a child or a firearm the legislation would also require the number of domestic violence cases presented to the da to be reported along with the charges filed in the outcome of those cases. the bill is coming on the heels of a new report from the family violence council that found 79% of people fleeing abuse and seeking shelter were turned away during the pandemic due to capacity restrictions and heightened demand jenny perlman works with safe and sound a children's. is the organization when a family who's experiencing violence does not have shelter the family will most likely have to return to the house where the abuse is happening according to sfpd in the fourth quarter of

last year. there were 131 arrests for felony domestic violence in san francisco. 86% of those cases were dismissed. only 9% were charged abc 7 reached out to thequtir sample e of that data. to see how many cases were charged throughout the entire year while we didn't get those specifics before our deadline. we did receive the following statement. the numbers dipped during the pandemic in particular during shelter-in-place periods, which affected domestic violence cases in particular as a result our office also devoted significant resources towards expanding support for domestic violence victims to secure housing and transportation during the pandemic the da's office added filing and charging rates for domestic violence. cases have increased from 24% and 2020 to 31% so far this year. i just think that we have to do better by victims stephanie sierra abc 7 news. the man accused of stabbing a

woman on the sidewalk in downtown san francisco. tuesday w c afternoon 27 year old javon knighton is charged with felony assault and attempted murder. police. say he first pushed a senior citizen to the ground and then stabbed and kicked a good samaritan who tried to fnt him for the attack knighton had an arrest warrant for appearing in court for previous misdemeanor charges according to a recent survey muslim students are experiencing increased bullying in middle and high school. all the council on on american islamic relations, california released their findings earlier today nearly 50% of muslim students who were surveyed reported being bullied because of their faith. that's an increase of 10% from last year one of the most glaring statistics is at 25% of those surveyed reported that the bullying came from a teacher or caretaker at their school teachers administrators and or classmates normalize their face their faith-based bullying of muslim students.

in san francisco's golden gate park before outside lands the three-day music festival begins tomorrow abc 7 news reporter. tim johns is live with what you need to know if you're planning to attend. hi, tim. hey, dan, you know i got to got you a lot of people are very excited that outside. is coming back this weekend here at golden gate park organizers are expecting a pre-pandemic sized crowd of over 70,000 people now, they tell me they are working hard to make sure that everyone has fun, but also

stay safe. after a two-year wait outside lands is back at golden gate park. it is amazing to be back here. the three-day music festival has been a part of the culture of the city drawing people from all around the country this year organizers tell us it's sold out and they're expecting crowds of around 70,000 people. that was always our mission here was to do something that it could be an iconic representation of so many elements of the cultural experience of the bay area. but as covid safety protocols that include things like all vendors wearing masks and screening festival goers at security when they arrive everybody here who's coming to the festival has to be vaccinated or showproof of a covid negative test within 72 hours. beyond the health measures last weekend's reign is also a safety consideration grounds crews spent thursday afternoon, making

sure all nearby trees were safe and that the soil was sturdy making sure to avoid any potential accidents. well, we know the park has done an amazing job working with us to prepare the festival grounds at large. we feel very confident in the mitigation efforts that we've taken to deal with all the rain and weather. happen but while there is a lot of excitement around the festival. not everyone is happy in years past festival goers have caused damage to nearby residential neighborhoods with everything from litter being thrown on streets to traffic issues and even some using private driveways as bathrooms and while residents we talked to say they understand only so much can be done. they sometimes wish for more. it doesn't seem like they've done much to to fix the issue now just for some contextual information normally outside lands takes place in august. obviously this year it has been moved to halloween weekends that has caused some concern among local residents, especially those with young children.
