megan tevrizian has more on how the passengers escaped. >> reporter: new images of the terrifying moments on this commuter train in tokyo. authorities say a man with a knife started stabbing passengers and set a fire on the train, near one of the busiest rail stations. the attack coming as party goers headed into the city for halloween. people desperate to escape ran to another train car to avoid the attacker, while others climbed out of the windows of the train made a stop. 17 people were injured, including a man in his 70s. authorities arresting the suspect, a 24-year-old man dressed up as batman's joker. he reportedly poured lighter fluid on the train seats before setting them on fire. police have not revealed a motive. but local media said the suspect wanted to kill people and wanted the death penalty.
