vincent matthews will present a plan to cover the standard level of staffing while also reducing funding for some positions like counseling, literacy courses. the board has until december 15 to approve a plan. according to the "chronicle," the deficit could go up to 140 $6 million in 2023 if nothing is done, based on current spending. the district has been spending $60 million a year beyond the revenue it receives from the state. swsd was forced to bring on financial consultant to figure out these cuts, and they are required to submit any labor agreements to the state superintendent for review. so san francisco unified has to have approval for salaries, reggie. reggie: thank you. the clearing fire season over, at least for that northbay community. the foot of rain from october,

living in fear. someone shot at their home, hitting the husband in the face while he was holding his 5-wood go daughter. -- five-week-old daughter. his husband spoke exclusively to abc 7 news reporter j.r. stone. j.r.: in oakland, a father was shot in the face while holding his 5-week old baby in their own home. it happened this past saturday in west oakland near 7th and peralta. jimmie: i just started screaming, "get down, get down, get down!" our daughter, our 4-year-old, was crawling towards me, and i moved her towards the kitchen, and he put the baby on the floor. j.r.: jimmie, whose husband was the one who was shot, and who has chosen to cover his face for his family's security, is describing what happened after the shots rang out. jimmie: i saw blood on the floor, and his teeth, and i was trying to get him to turn over so i could see what had happened , to him, but he wouldn't allow me to turn him over. j.r.: jimmie's husband was holding their 5-week-old baby when the shots came into their home in this west oakland neighborhood. miraculously, his husband survived after taking a bullet to the face.

the five-week-old has just minor abrasions on her face. he -- his jaw is fractured here, and his teeth were blown out. thankfully, from what i understand, is that his tongue wasn't damaged. i'm playing the "why?" game right now, because we don't talk to anybody really, like, aside from our immediate neighbors, so i'm trying to figure out if, like, it's because we're gay. you know, i just can't believe this is random. j.r.: oakland police will only say there was a shooting, but won't say if they are investigating the case as a hate crime. jimmie says they now need to find somewhere safe to live. he is hopeful that someone comes forward with information about who would shoot into a home with children in it. jimmie: it is hard for me to believe that nobody saw anything, even somebody who was in the car that didn't pull the trigger, you know, this is [beep] up! you can't just do this to

almost 91% effective against symptomatic illness. the white house says the doses could be available sms tomorrow and says there are enough doses for everyone in the five-year-old to 11-year-old age group. reporting live in walnut creek, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. kumasi: thank you, amy. a new push to address the growing mental health crisis in our nation. this morning, a group represent more than 200 children's hospitals and 77,000 doctors is demanding congress take action. the sounding the alarm for kids campaign is calling for new legislation and increase funding for mental health services. during the pandemic of the american academy of pediatrics says that harassment 25% increase in mental health related business for five euros to 11-year-olds, and a 31% increase for 12-year-olds and 15-year-olds. children across the country say there is a 45 percent increase

in the number of self injury and suicide cases what can be done to solve the problem? dr. say action includes access to kids in mental health services and programs that would reduce the risk of suicide both at home and at school. reggie: covid infections are rising in two bay area counties, both alameda and san jose counties have gone from a moderate spread to that san mateo counties have gone from a moderate spread to a substantial one. on monday, the county reported a 7-day case rate for 53 percent of residents, which puts it in the orange tear, substantial spread alameda county was in for about a week, 51 cases per 100,000. now the county -- neither county meets local metrics for removal of indoor masks, because vax rates are below the required 80% mark. kumasi: companies with at least 100 employees will soon be required to provide workers paid time off to be vaccinated. the rule would mandate companies
