ama: i am ama daetz. kate larsen spoke vot both sides tonight. kate: they certified a recall election for the embattled district attorney. >> san franciscans are set up and tired. kate: she is an organizer. the campaign submitted 83,000 signatures, 32,000 more than required to land her on the june 7 ballot. >> it is about san franciscans not feeling safe under this district attorney when he does not hold to account and act responsibly when it comes to repeat offenders. >> he has fulfilled his campaign promises to increase public safety and reform the criminal justice system. kate: the campaign manager says with all the money raised on the probe recall side, it's no surprise the measure made it to the ballot. he says his team strategy is to educate voters.

that is our job for the next eight months, to make sure we can counter this false narrative coming through from the recall folks and paint a picture of what is actually happening. kate: boudin will not be running against anyone. if he is recalled, mayor london breed would appoint a replacement, meaning voters will make a decision based on what they feel boudin has or has not done for the city. >> we had an ideological movement and it was promised a new tomorrow. not everyone is happy with what tomorrow has brought. this is an emotional issue. kate: the boudin recall has attracted national attention. the recall is not just about san francisco. >> it's not just chesa boudin. it's a whole philosophy about how america should handle its crime, justice system. that is what is really at stake here. kate: kate larsen, abc 7 news. ama: mayor london breed said she

announced the recall of three board members. according to the chronicle, read said the priorities -- breed said the priorities had been misplaced. february 15. dan: after decades of public protests and community debate, the thomas fallon sculpture in san jose is coming down. issues of social justice are a key area. amanda del castillo has more on the debate tonight about the statue and fallon's legacy. amanda: the san francisco city council made it clear that the statue is coming down. it sets out west saint james and julian streets and it will soon be moved into storage. >> thomas fallon is not someone who deserves this level of honor in our city. amanda: a unanimous vote. the city pointing to three

specific required reasons for removal. significant adverse public reaction, issues with security, and the need for excessive maintenance, especially after demonstrations by the community. >> this has nothing to do with vandals. this has absolutely everything to do with the immoral and unethical practice of acquiring land and a sense of superiority. amanda: paul soto and others calling out fallon. former city mayor viewed by some as a colonizer and oppressor. he was depicted raising the u.s. flag in the mid-1800s on what was then mexican land. >> it is a beautiful work of art but it is racist in meaning, message, and event. amanda: it will cost $450 to take down. some tense moments as the former mayor took questions from counsel. henry, who was instrumental in putting up the statue, maintain

closed to new donations after it far surpassed the initial goal. dan: let's move to the coronavirus. pfizer is asking the fda to authorize booster shots for emergency use for americans 18 years of age and older. rena roy explains that this request comes just as one california city implements a new vaccine mandate. rena: more american adults could be eligible for an extra layer of protection against covid. pfizer requesting fda emergency use authorization for its booster shot for adults 18 and up. this has more vaccine mandates go into effect. in los angeles, people required to show proof of full vaccination at many indoor businesses. >> we are getting burnout on covid and this is the easiest way to make sure we are moving forward. >> the justice department is asking them to lift the temporary block on president biden's mandate requiring employees at all businesses with 100 or more workers to get vaccinated. >> the president of the administration would not have put these requirements in place
