solutions, this is abc 7 news. >> everybody is frustrated. i don't blame them. >> no deal. kaiser employees are preparing to go on strike. how this is impacting patients in need of medication. a jogger becomes a hero after saving a pat from a fire. how a doorbell camera made it possible. good morning, everybody. you're watching abc 7 news on ab seven, hulu live. let's start with a click -- quick look at the weather. lisa: we have a lot of dense fog. it's working its way into the north and east bay. as we have our ridge of high pressure deflecting the storm to the north, we've got low clouds and that fog that will stick around through noon in some of our valleys of the north and east.

we have a half mile visibilityit in san carlos. it's moving along to the coast. we are in the upper castro valley. up in albany, right at 50 degrees. we will be partly cloudy and above average. we are cooler in the next few days and we may be talking about some light rain in a few minutes. liz: representing its pharmacists will return to the bargaining table today. here's a breakdown of what has happened so far this weekend. yesterday, they reached an agreement to avert strikes in southern california, oregon, and why. the contract covers nearly 50,000 health care employees and 22 unions. they area pharmacists have no deal. this is impacting people trying

to get there prescriptions filled. tim has more on the development. it >> with the clock running down before 3:00 monday morning, pharmacists say they are ready to go on strike if a deal isn't reached. >> we want a fair contract. >> the president of the guild for pharmacists, the group leading the negotiations. he said that while kaiser has said talks had been taken place, he hasn't heard from them in weeks. >> it's a boldfaced lie.faced li it >> the strike could impact patients all over the bay. at the pharmacy in oakland, he'll waited in line for hours to get his prescription filled. >> i got here about 2:30 p.m.. it was a couple of hours. click while the staff was working as fast as they could, they could not keep up with the demand.

many members were getting the prescriptions they need for the next week now, in case the strike happens. >> everyone is frustrated. i don't blame them. what bothered me most of all, you have elderly people in line. >> the guild said patients are the top party. they said many members will work without pay through the strike in order to help meet the needs. >> we have always cared for the patients. we do everything we can for the patients. >> the next round of talks will take place sunday afternoon. kaiser has contingency plans in place in the mail delivery pharmacy will still be available. liz: also without a deal are engineers that went on strike september 18. they want better working conditions and higher pay. >> i've been an employee since

1995. hopefully we can get this resolved. i still want to be a proud worker for kaiser. they've made myuswa tma sure wep that going. liz: the you knew that represents the engineers say things to been moving slowly, lately there has been some movement. this is the last day of business for two walgreens stores. the store on clement street and the store in hayes valley are closing for good starting tomorrow. all grains says prescriptions are being moved to other locations. rampant shoplifting has been cited for why the stores are closing. this year, we shot that viral video of a shoplifter clearing out shelves. another location on cesar chavez street will close wednesday. that will be the fifth to shut down this month.

this morning, new video shows the moments of three old child was objected in sacramento, sparking an amber alert. some might find the video disturbing. you can see a man tussling with a woman over the child. the frightening moments were captured on a security camera. it happened on friday night. the man it rips the child out of her arms. the child was located in hayward yesterday morning. the child will be united with family. the suspect is accused of shooting to people and then taking the child. investigators believe he knew the victims and the child. the relationship is unclear. the shooting victims are expected to survive. turning to the pandemic, florida has a lower covid rate than california. that is according to data from the cdc. local health experts say we need

to start looking at the data differently. ryan curry has more on what they want to see changed. >> the new case rate shows the difference between two ends of the country. california is still in the orange group. florida is in the moderate level. >> this comparison, it's it's completely not surprising. it has to do with who gets hit hard. it >> covid case rates fluctuated throughout the pandemic. he said each state saw surges at one point. >> we focus on infections. it's always going to look weird with spikes here and spikes there. >> what's interesting is both states react to different. florida did not implement restrictions. one reason why florida has a low rate is because a lot of the population already contracted

the san francisco police department held a memorial service to remember the fallen officer. officer was killed in the line of duty when he was shot by a carjacking suspect. he was the first to respond to the call. the officer was confronted by the suspect to open fire with a semi automatic rifle. >> he would he would he would than to be here with his fellow officers, working for the city. he loved being a police officer. >> the officer ser the officer r department for 10 years. he is survived by two children. we have an agreement for nearly 200 nations that took part in the u.n. climate summit.

president trump. the justice department in its announcement made specific reference to bannon being a private citizen since leaving the white house. there was no reason he should be eligible to ignore congress. the committee said this should be a warning, no one is above the law. we will not hesitate to use the tools at our disposal to get the information we need. dan is not the only one define it congress. the committee says it is also considering holding former chief of staff mark meadows in contempt of congress after he failed to show up to testify friday. his lawyer said he would not participate until questions around executive privilege were answered in court. bannon is expected to surrender to law enforcement and have his first court appearance monday. if found guilty, he could face to years in prison. liz: the wisconsin governor has

in new york. another long island resident shot video of a cloud formation off the south shore. people of new jersey caught a glimpse of the ominous clouds. this was taken south in ocean grove. the national weather service had a warning for parts of new york and new jersey. it seems like it showed up with no warning for people living there. lisa: it's fun to have all of these cameras now. people get their own video. you have to be on your guard when you get a warm air mass. that triggers those thunderstorms. for the bay area, we are dealing with that phenomenon. we have that to move into the eastern valleys. storm track to the north is taking all the rain into the pacific northwest. it's going to sag to the south a

little bit. we are not going to get lucky with rain then. it's not looking like a big deal. we haven't put on on our impact scale yet. you will notice we do have the gray over the east bay. you can see the city in the distance and the low cloud deck. if you are driving, take your time. it can be right in front of you in no time and allow for poor visibility. it is 51 in oakland. half moon bay, 53 degrees. it was 76 yesterday at the beach. you might want to hang out there. more clouds are entering the bay area today. it is 51 in napa. it is 52 in concord.

just over a mile. vacaville is under a mile. it's going to take 11:00, maybe noon time for some of these inland valleys to break out into sunshine. we are still looking above normal readings. those light winds out of the east and upper elevations, we are looking at san jose. it was fog yesterday. the dense fog advisory until noon. we had some on the peninsula looking at partly cloudy skies this afternoon. you will notice as the clouds thinned out a little bit, more cloud cover brings the temperature down. that system that will miss us to the north moves out. we are back into a cooler day on tuesday. the next chance of rain comes in on thursday. it's just a slight chance.

we could get wet down through the golden gate look for 74 in fremont. despite the fog and some of the high clouds, numbers today between five and seven degrees above where we should be. morning fog, clouds increase. we may have a shower north of the golden gate on thursday. we will get into some breezy wind. temperatures are on the cool side next week. it's pretty foggy in spots. liz: the county of santa clara and city of san jose allocated funding for food pantries to keep up with the unprecedented need during the pandemic. the funding is set to stop at the end of year. as we explain it, the pantr it,e worried the lock funding could cause food struggles to get

worse. it >> as a volunteer at a food pantry, it pays off to have fast hands. that's because there's no time to lose. it >> what we saw at the start of the pandemic is a problem that was already significant. it's magnified threefold. >> they provided more than thann meals throughout the pandemic. they normally operate on private funding. the city provided $1 provided $p american rescue fund money to help with the burden. that funding will expire in 2022. >> we don't want to start deciding who we can't serve and who we can. it >> the need is very dire. that's what's really amazing. >> as this map indicates, the issue is widespread. yellow shows areas with low food access.

looked at the weather. look how beautiful and blue the water looks. lisa: it looks nice. there is fog in san francisco. it is finally moving in. it's making for some very pretty pictures. you can see the city. it we are looking at temperatures from the mid-50's in the city. we have a closer view of some of that fog in san francisco. it is still going to be above average. this is a look at the visibility and miles. livermore is looking at visibility. it's just over one mile in nevada. we are looking at a mix of sun and clouds. we will have partly cloudy skies. we have numbers from the upper 60's to the mid-70's. liz:

was injured after being involved in a crash with another vehicle. this happened after 6:40 yesterday afternoon. the officer was transported to the hospital with non- life-threatening injuries. a passenger took themselves to the emergency room with complaints of pain. the crash is under investigation. clinics in the bay area are busy, many giving booster shots. if officials are encouraging any adult who wants a booster to get one. it seems there is still some confusion. we have that story. >> getting the booster is for br our health. it's a good thing. >> she just got her booster shot at this vaccination clinic along with her mom and husband. this family is looking ahead it

into san francisco. we do have a dense fog advisory. you can see it right there impacting our east bay. the storm track continues to ride to the north. there is a look at the cloud cover. as we look at our live cameras, you can see that fog. it is 51 in oakland. we are looking at 466666666 the interior valleys. yesterday, livermore turned out to be 74. depending on how long the fog sits, your afternoon highs will be impacted. today, we added in some high clouds. you can see that quarter-mile

visibility from livermore. even around the san carlos airport, they are getting into some patchy fog. as we see those lighter winds, that is what is helping that fog drift our way. the golden gate bridge is not too bad it. we are looking at partly cloudy skies and mild conditions. temperatures are feeling more like they should for november. in the afternoon, you will notice we do thin out that cloud cover for some sun. we have thicker clouds for monday. we will have a few degrees cooler. we get cooler air and that is going to set the stage for a cooler week. another system on thursday, flirting with the bay area.
