they were trying to make a citizen's arrest under georgia law. prosecutors claim they mistook ahmaud arbery for a thief after she was seen wondering around this home under construction. mcmichael told the jury arbery grabbed his gun and he fired, kalg it a life or death situation. >> what did you do? >> i shot. >> why? >> he had my gun. he struck me. >> reporter: but prosecutors pressed him on arbery never nosing a physical or verbal threat to any of the three men. >> hasn't said a word the entire time? >> no. >> outside the courthouse, hundreds of black pastors and people closely watching, gathered to pray with arbery's family. >> we are looking for a miracle. >> and the judge gave the jury a

a bipartisan group of attorneys general and the district of columbia is investigating accusations that meta promoted instagram knowing the negative mental health impact it could hve. they are looking into whether the actions violated laws, saying meta "chose to ignore or in some cases double down on known manipulations that pose a real threat to physical and mental health, exploiting children in the interest of profit." >> the thing i saw facebook over and over again, there were conflicts of interest between what was good for the public and what was good for facebook. >> reporter: pressure has been escalating since a whistleblower leaked internal research that suggested teens suffered body image issues using the app. 32% of teen girls saying when they feel bad about their bodies, instagram makes them feel worse.

for her safety cast new doubt on an email she supposedly sent claiming she's okay. the women's tennis association doubts the email's authenticity. >> i don't think there's any validity in it and we won't be comfortable until we have a chance to speak with her directly and make sure she knows that we're worried about her, that we have the ability to provide support to whatever level she wants. >> reporter: the email said the sexual assault allegations peng previously made against a former top chinese government official were not true and went on to say, i am not missing nor am i unsafe. i have just been resting at home and everything is fine. thank you again for caring about me. peng, a former top ranked doubles player, hasn't been seen in nearly three weeks since posting the assault allegations on social media. her post was quickly deleted and all mentions of the allegations are being wiped from the internet in china. the chinese government even censuring cnn when the news network reported on the story. >> this is literally the story the government there does not
