visibility from napa to santa rosa. three quarters of a mile in nevada. we can see pretty good. moderate air quality. we have voice from the ground. it is working its way into the bay area from northerly winds. we will get more on sunshine. the operational winds are 30 to 35 miles per hour. it will bring drier air to the surface. 58 in hayward. we are looking at 50 in albany. 59 in pacifica. we will get into party cloudy skies at 9:00. there is a lot of sunshine for the noon hour. mid to upper 60's and some of our warmer locations today. slightly milder as we get into the sunday due to those offshore winds. it will talk about the cooldown and dry conditions for thanksgiving, coming up. >> thank you. developing news. several people are in police custody after thieves ransacked a louis vuitton store in san francisco's union square. as we show to social media

video, chaos was unfolding last night. >> front of the louis vuitton at kerry pathan -- kerry in stockton. police are calling what happenep looting and vandalism. louis vuitton may not be the only store that was hit. police are investigating reports of vandalism at other small businesses. retail businesses. this is video of the nearby store. you can see the glass was smashed, but it does not appear that anything was stolen. pretty for class. please are calling this a fluid and involving -- evolving situation. if you have any information about this crime, you are asked to call san francisco police.

protesters took to oakland, calling for change after the not guilty verdict in a kyle rittenhouse trial. that verdict was delivered in a courtroom yesterday. >> we did jury find kyle rittenhouse not guilty. >> rittenhouse burst ist ist and collapsed into a chair after being acquitted of all five counts that he was charged with it kenosha, armed with a rifle. he claims to protect lives and property during the protest. he would shoot three people at that protest, killing two and injuring the other. rittenhouse's lawyer has argued that he has defended himself. the jury deliberated the fate of rittenhouse over four days. abc 7 news reporters were there to have more on how the bay area have reacted to the verdict. >> nearly 100 people took to the streets of oakland, responding to the not guilty verdict in the

kyle rittenhouse trial. >> the group marched to city hall to the federal building. they called the two white men who were shot and killed during a black lives matter protest heroes. activists categorize the verdict as an emergency call to action. >> to every sibling sibling sibg coward, every would-be be white supremacist vigilante. >> this not guilty verdict resonates in the black unity. in 2020, xavier brown and his friend verbalized -- mobilize 50,000 people against the violence and the killing of george floyd. he responded to the trial. >> i will be completely real. i was furious. i was so very us. rittenhouse's attorney that he fought for his life and used self defense.

he said the jury need to answer one question. >> the jury was told to focus simply on the moments and when there was a shooting. there was not any doubt that he shot these folks. the jury was asked, do you find that he was justified in self-defense, or do you find that the government has improved beyond a reasonable doubt and he was justified in that moment? >> there was one black shirt in the movie -- kerry. -- jury. >> i think he was definitely found not guilty because of the color of his skin. it is also because we live in a country where, since day one, this country was founded on racism. >> it is said that there was racial disparity in the criminal justice system. >> what was -- would happen if he was in the exact same situation? >> abc 7 news. >> in kenosha wisconsin, dozens of committee activists and family members of shooting

victims rallied outside of that courthouse there. a few protesters were detained but no violence was reported. in new york city, protesters marched through various boroughs and it remained peaceful. the verdict in the rittenhouse case is just one of several across the country that police agencies are monitoring. another is the trial of three white men accused of killing a young black men in georgia. >> we are checking our intelligence, we are hearing from other law enforcement at the federal or state level. >> there are more pressing cases as far as african are concerned across the country -- the arbery case. >> closing arguments in that case are expected on monday. body camera footage was released from a shopping cap datacenter last month. it may be difficult to watch. >> let me see your hands. gone.

>> the pol the pol the pol the p investigating a stolen car,se police. investigators say the suspect, michael nelson, got out of the car, armed with a gun. a detective opened fire on nelson, who shot back. the shootout broke out between police, and it was hit by gunfire. nelson later died of his injuries. no bystanders or officers were injured. hard video to watch. friends and committee members came together for the funeral of jasper wu. the toddler was killed by a stray bullet on interstate 80. a sweet little boy. dozens filled the piedmont services home yesterday. the family provided photos of the service along with a video honoring jasper. they provided paper, toys, and full. a chinese did -- tradition.

the oakland please she says we have to do better. >> we are all responsible. i totally agree. you're all responsible. despite our opinions about police, there has to be safety in our community. many families in this community feel unsafe right now. >> that is so hard to watch. no arrests have been made in the shooting. a gofundme campaign and jasper's memory has raised around a quarter of a million dollars. >> moving on, the mother of an o antioch woman killed on thursday on the freeway is asking shooters to turn themselves in, pleading. 29-year-old amani morris was a passenger in an suv that came under fire as it approached the bay bridge toll plaza on interstate 80. morrison's fiancé, and sons, aged five and three, were in the car as it happened. her mother told us by phone from her home in georgia that her daughter was headed for a job interview in san francisco.

quick san jose state university reached a settlement with more female athletes who were sexually harassed by a sports trainer. in september, the department of justice investigation found the school mishandled sexual assault claims by the student athletes. at that time, the university agreed to pay a $1.6 million settlement to the students, but not all of them accepted the offer. the money from the latest settlement will be divided by 15 of the victims. elizabeth holmes took the stand in her own defense in san jose yesterday. the founder of the group is facing 11 counts of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud rate here are sketches of homes testifying. she is includes -- accused of misleading investors. abc news was in the courtroom, watching the testimony. >> she watched -- walked to the stance, and she took off her

four faces of transgendered people who had been killed. one of two people who died after last year stabbing spree in grace baptist. >> it is painful. for james shelley, that is emotional and physical. on november 2, 2020, he was working as a shelter employee for ray solutions when he was stabbed three times. his lung collapsed and he needed surgery on his shoulder and spine. on friday, he took us through the hall where happened. >> down this hall, there were footsteps of blood. >> since the stabbing, the church brought on a new senior pastor. reverend jordan oliver says they have rededicated themselves to fighting to justice for the un-house, trance rights, and people of color. >> since then, we were able to turn back to life and try our best to grower church and be a presence. >> he says that attendance has gone up 70%. on saturday, that community is

cooler this morning. 54 in and as we look back to the north bay, made for mus -- mid 40's. looking at a great start here, but we have sunshine and fog. mainly in the north bay. it could move around a little bit. sunny and mild or for the weekend, with temperatures coming up to above average. we have dry conditions for thanksgiving. if we look at the rainfall over the next seven days, we noticed the focus in the north bay. looking at over 1.5 inches. as we get down to california, not expecting any. there are a few weak systems that will bring in high clouds from time to time, but overall, we are looking at the pattern to be dry, and in fact is we can, looking at temperatures to climb above normal readings.

64 in san francisco. look at 65 in oakland. numbers in the upper 60's towards the inland valleys. we are starting out foggy, and it may take a little while for you to warm up, but we have upper-level offshore winds, and sometimes that brings in a fog. other times it is forced to dry out our atmosphere. we will be looking at that to dry things out, bringing in sunshine sooner and allowing afternoon highs to warm up not only today, but into tomorrow. making plans for thanksgiving? here's where we get a few more clouds. temperatures are coming back to near normal readings. wake up early morning at about 7:00, and temperatures will be ranging from the 30's and the north bay to the 40's by 10:00. we will be in the 50's and upper 60's with clouds and a few semi breaks. it is looking good for thanksgiving. beyond that, a little bit uncertain, but in terms of our stretch of dry weather, it is here to stay. in fact, the warmest weather

they may have to pay back on up limit benefits that they received during the pandemic. now they are telling thousands more that they may be entitled to benefits they never got, and they are reopening old claims. it seems like take and give, who is entitled for money from the pandemic, it is sorted allow. >> is nerve-racking to think that we may have to pay back all that money. >> they giving money, but they don't think they will get the money. i told you about salon owners and stylus heather mendoza. they both received unemployment benefits intended to give self-employed and gig workers to the pandemic. now, they are requiring them to prove self-employed, or pay the money back. on the other hand, it is just opening the door for thousands of others to claim those benefits as well. >> people who qualify will be getting texts or other notices from edd. >> the edd says that the new

federal rules have expanded the pool of workers who are eligible for pandemic on up limit benefits. the benefits expired two months ago, but the new claims would be paid retroactively. the benefit for gig workers, contractors, the self-employed, that group just widened slightly. >> this group is about 100,000, estimated. it is a limited subgroup. here are those who suddenly qualify. workers who refused job offers during the pandemic because the workplace was not adhering to covid-19 safety rules like masking and social distancing. contractors who work for a school district with unstable work schedules that reduced income. finally, anyone who is ours were reduced because of covid-19, even if the place of business date open. edd did not say what documents they will required to prove someone is eligible a year or more after losing a job opportunity.

right now, visibility is at zero. santa rosa, napa, and pretty good elsewhere. cooler conditions in the north bay, but north winds will allow for some drier air to mix into the bay area, today. 25 to 35 miles per hour. that works to eight drier and sunnier afternoon. it is 50 in napa right now. we're in the mid-50's along the peninsula in the south bay, and buy new time, low to mid 60's, at a sunny start to the day. a sunny finished with mid to upper 60's, so we are warming up. it looks like we will see another chilly night tonight and even warmer for our sunday. we will detail the thanksgiving weekend in a few mins. >> thank you. cdc is endorsing booster shots for all americans over the age of 18. this comes just as the busy travel season gets underway. some states are experiencing a surge in infection. abc news reporter karina mitchell has the details.

>> millions more americans are now eligible for an extra dose of protection from covid-19. the cdc director, dr. rochelle walensky signed off on boosters for all americans 18 and older. after a cdc advisory panels unanimous vote, only one in five people who were already eligible for a booster have received their exodus. some cdc advisors are pointing out that many people were hesitant because of questions about eligibility. >> the guidelines were well-intentioned, and the generate confusion. today's vote will clear that up. am i eligible? the answer is yes. >> cvs and walgreens will be offering boosters for all those nearly eligible starting today. 14 states had already expanded booster eligibility. meantime, people in some states are already having trouble finding booster availability. >> we are focused and we don't have anything else. >> covid affections are already on the rise across the country.

in new mexico, daily cases have increased by more than 60% in the past three weeks. >> we are seeing extremely high volumes of patients presenting with influenza or covid like . -- illnesses. this is overwhelming our health care system. >> health officials are looking to prevent a holiday surge. doctors are urging the unvaccinated to roll up their sleeves and parents to get there children vaccinate. >> i think it is quite safe if everyone is vaccinated. if you are unvaccinated, reusing rapid testing can make a big difference. >> korea mitchell, abc news, new york. >> the unified school district is hosting clinics today to get children vaccinate. the locations of where the shots are being offered are on your screen. sites are concentrated in high-priority zip codes. pop-ups are being planned in december and january. >> we are learning affects about

the covariate called delta. pregnant women who have covid-19 are almost twice as likely to have stillbirth, as women who do not have covid. the risk increased when the delta variant emerged. a separate cdc study of pregnant women who died from covid-19 showed which already have them passed away after the delta variant came dominant. millions of people are getting ray to hit the road for thanksgiving, and they will be paying the highest gas prices in seven years. according to aaa, the average price for a gallon of gasoline has gone up across the country to three dollars. gas prices as we all know are much higher at an average of four dollars and $.87. air travel is up pre-pandemic levels, with many people expected to fly more than airfare last year. that is pretty expensive.

>> food insecurity is a growing problem, especially around the holidays. as the abc 7 i team found out, disparities are only getting worse for the most vulnerable in we are digging into it.>> natosg to make ends meet. unemployed from the pandemic, she now lives on 14th street in southwest oakland. a low-income neighborhood defined as a food desert which does not mean there are not grocery stores in the area. a large percentage of the population does not have easy access to them. >> it is overwhelming. >> it is one of 600 neighborhoods in the san francisco area that is considered food deserts, and that means that these areas have one third of the population that are living a half mile away from the nearest supermarket or large grocery store. with no car or bus pass, hartman walks. i walked two or three miles. >> on a good day, it is a mild

walk. but on sundays and mondays, it is close, and the closest grocery store is more than one mile away. for sir jordan --. >> eight or nine walks to safeway. >> the distance is not the problem but the price. >> the price on food is $250 a month. >> that is enough food to last for a month. now, the same amount, it only lasts two weeks. >> when prices go up, it hits the lower income households, particularly hard. >> james wilcox is a graduate school professor of economics at uc berkeley. >> lower income households spend twice as large or a fraction of their income on food as higher income household. >> data analysis finds that more than 170 low-income neighborhoods are in the san

as an anchor shows us, the marines need more than just toys this year. >> at around this time of year, we usually see festive images like this where we are reporting on toys for tots in the bay area. instead of beating at the san mateo event center, we can see other drives going, and we are at the marine parking lot whereupon storage units are taking the place of an actionable facility. >> it is a lot, but we have to make do. there a lot of kids up there that need toys. we have to do what we have to do. this year is a little bit different. in addition to the need for 40 to 60,000 toys, there is also a call for a warehouse space to house all of these items. doing it right now is staff sergeant josh garza. tell me a little bit about why you need the space? we facilitate some toys, and we are the largest toys for tots area in the united states. >> you asked about 25 different
