off again. police conducted a search of the area. dan: what happened today follows a slew of crimes that happen all around the bay over the last week in particular, including crowds of robbers targeting stores, running out with armloads of expensive merchandise. the suspects were caught and arrested for crimes in san francisco last friday. for the first time they face multiple felony charges. >> we now know stunning details of how the louis vuitton robbery unfolded friday night, as five of these suspects make their first court appearance, we also learned how much merchandise was taken and the relationship each suspect had to one another. bystander video shows sfpd break the windows of a silver mustang, and we now know cousins were the

men inside. police say they were caught with $6,000 in stolen goods. miller has felony convictions dating back to 2017. police say he drove the vehicle, revving it in an attempt to evade police. callaway was the passenger, he was found with a loaded firearm. also in court today, speed, who was detained leaving the scene. police say he had $13,000 worth of merchandise on him as he ran away and was later found to have stashed another $14,000 in goods nearby. he spent 42 months in prison for a number of convictions, including distributing cocaine. we also spoke with miller's mother, who is callaway's aunt outside the courtroom. >> of course they done wrong. i know they done wrong. but quit beating these young men like that. that could be somebody else's child. reporter: as for the two women who appeared today, kimberly cherry and white, abc spoke to a woman is that she is white's mother and sherry's grandmother. police documents show they were

caught in another vehicle with $20,000 in merchandise. the judge acknowledges their previous criminal history is not as serious as the men in court and set bail for $5,000 each. no bail has been set for alert or speed. callaway remains detained until his next court appearance next week. ama: contra costa county prosecutors filed conspiracy, robbery and burglary charges against three suspects in saturday's massive smash and grab at nordstrom's in walnut creek. this video shows some of the 90 or so running from the store. most escaped, but police say they were able to arrest and 30-year-old dawson 19-year-old rodney robinson. her office is committed to stopping those participating in organized retail theft. central marin police, they say

40 people broke in and stole about $50,000 worth of merchandise. police were called to paulo alto about an attempted break-in there. they ended up arresting two women and in their car found merchandise connected to the robbery. the women were released and now have a warrant out for their arrest. south bay leaders want to arrest to be seen as a warning. they said if you come to santa clara county and tried to commit theft, there will be consequences. how an investment in technology may help combat the rising crime. >> it's not a common feeling this time of year, but many residents are scared, concerned if and when the next flash robbery will occur, especially with america's biggest shopping weekend days away. but leaders in the city of san jose say it should be the suspects who are afraid, and they all doubled down on their promise to keep the city safe. >> san jose and santa clara county is not the place to be coming to commit organized

retail crime or crime of any kind. >> we are making it clear, if you're in santa clara county, you're going to be caught and punished. >> for those thinking of committing these crimes, don't, because you're going to get caught, you're going to go to jail. reporter: arrest of already been made into suspects or facing -- and to suspects are facing jail time, 19-year-old and 22-year-old lewis attempted to steal more than $4000 of perfume and cologne from macy's stores at both valley fair and oak ridge malls last night. santa clara county district attorney jeff rosen says there bail is set at $2 million. >> we have begun charging these cases, we will charge them to the fullest extent of the law. these are felonies, summer -- some of these are strike offenses. the perpetrators that have been arrested are in custody, behind bars, where they will remain. reporter: the mayor announced a quarter million dollar proposal for technology including license plate readers that will be voted on at tuesday's city council

meeting. in hope it will help police and the rest of other suspects. >> it allows us to do more, and, -- cover more locations, ensure safety without increasing the number of officers. reporter: city leaders want residence to feel safe. they will take part in supporting businesses this weekend and encourage others to do the same. >> it is safe, we have the best police department in the country keeping us safe. dan: in oakland, police are creasing staffing to address the recent increase in violent crime. the mayor talked with us about it today. >> we are limiting time off or are officer so we can ensure we don't fall below certain staffing levels. we do need to keep staffing up even during the holiday season. in fact, especially during the holiday season. dan: the mayor says the police department has the lowest staffing in a decade and says she is pushing for the city to hire more officers.

meantime, the owners of several oakland cannabis dispensers held a meeting asking for stronger police presence around their stores. roving bands of thieves struck several of these stores in the past week. with the police force is already at bare-bones, will the city be able to step up and help these dispensaries? >> someone is going to die on one of these sites and that will be their downfall. >> no one has more of a stake in making sure that opens cannabis dispensaries are safe. the same store was pillaged by roving band of greece over the we can. three days later, lent was among those on a resume call with the open police chief. >> we know this type of stuff is going on. send an extra cop around the area. park one at my store. anything we can do to work together. >> cannabis dispensaries were among dozens of those hit over the weekend.

and sports often go hand in hand . yesterday a patriots player views the podium to declare war on mac & cheese. thankfully today the 49ers kept it simple and just detail their favorite dishes. >> growing up, my mom always made this noodles dish that was very good. >> it's underrated, i would say green bean casserole. >> macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes. >> sweet potato pie. i like fried turkey. >> it's all about the mashed potatoes for me. this week the 49ers distributed their favorite dishes, teaming up with second harvest of silicon valley. the niners gave food to over 750 families in need. it was an in person event, which is rare these days. it comes at a great time because head coach kyle shanahan said his family is always mad at him this time of year. >> thanksgiving is awesome for

us because we speed up the whole schedule. it feels like we get a little bit of vacation because on thursday we get home at 10:00, but we speed up the schedule so we can get home by 7:00. usually i see about 12 people very upset with me and very hungry and irritated. when they come to visit us, they have to wait until i get home, and i go to bed pretty after and they get annoyed with me and i tell them just let me go to bed. casey: ever since in custody after making a series of instagram videos this morning waving a gun and saying people were in his home trying to kill him. he was taken into custody without incident several hours later. hopefully he gets the help he needs because some things are just more important than football. and earning a spot in a

championship game at the maui invitational which was held this year in las vegas due to hawaii travel restrictions. this is sort of a metaphor for the gales performance. tommy finished with eight points but wisconsin was all the way back. stares down his defender and steps right into the three. randy bennett, not loving it so much. a one-point game. he led the gales with 13 points. tyler rall had 18. the first loss of the year, 61-55. a pretty tight game throughout. a three-point lead with five minutes to play. the chance for the lead, and it is no good. the bears fall 62-50 nine, but showing signs of improvement.

we want to see the greatest clip of all time. hockey intermission at the washington capitals game. this rarely happens during thanksgiving week, but my sources do tell me the turkey team one. i love that clip. i'm thankful for that clip, i'm thankful to be in the studio with you guys, and my family came all the way from arizona to visit. poppa does not like getting on airplanes. dan: we are glad they are here. ama: and we are thankful for casey pratt. coming up tonight on abc 7 starting an edit clock, is the goldbergs, the wonder years, the connors, then home economics. then the queen family sing-along at 10 :00, followed by abc 7 news at 11:00.

our app is available for apple tv and android tv. download the app now and start streaming. dan: finally, a few thoughts about what really matters. these are strange, tense, and chaotic times in so many ways. this week alone, the jaw-dropping organized mass of robberies around the bay area, the high-profile murder trials in wisconsin and georgia, so much riding on those verdicts. and of course the ongoing pandemic and new concerns about a post holiday surge in new cases. as much as there seems to be going wrong, tomorrow is a day we set aside to be grateful for what is going right. nice giving day is that uniquely american holiday when we can come together with family and friends to celebrate and to in fact be thankful. no question this is an anxious time in the country, and many will find it hard to tune out the problems if even for only a few hours tomorrow. but that is been true many times
