for a person who aided them getting into a building. some charges might be filed against the person let them inside. they said the couple was likely trying to flee to canada. >> we have taken them into custody. james and jennifer crumbley. >> the parents of a teenager charged in the oxford high school shooting are in custody. >> they certainly appeared to be distressed. as i indicated, they were in a commercial building. we were able to take them into custody without incident. >> the couple lasting at their son's arraignment, they were due to surrender in front of their own arraignment but did not present themselves. the fbi and u.s. marshals office help the sheriff's office in the search, with u.s. marshals announcing an up to $10,000 reward for any information. >> there are a lot of things the

with his backpack, where we have reason to believe the gun was stored. >> the shooting happening hours later. jennifer crumbley texting her son, don't do it. his dad calling 911 minutes later that his gun was missing and that ethan might be the shooter. >> the notion that a parent could read those words and also know therir son had access to a deadly weapon that they gave him , i think it is criminal. lisa: new developments. alameda county is confirming five new cases of the omicron variant. all five adults are adults living in alameda county. they were among 12 bay area people who attended a wedding in milwaukee county last weekend, including one who recently traveled outside of the u.s. not every covid test has been

sequenced. so far, we only know of five omicron cases out of the 12. the cases are mildly symptomatic and no one has been hospitalized. in the north bay, dozens of students from elementary school were forced to quarantine after the parents of one student knowingly sent them to class after a positive covid-19 test. abc 7 was at the school. >> there was a thanksgiving break unlike any other for dozens of families at the neil cummins elementary school. >> there is frustration and disappointment. >> around 75 students had to quarantine after one parent knowingly sent their child to class after they tested positive for covid-19. dr. brett geithman is the superintendent. he said school officials only found out about the positive case after a call from marin public health, asking whether student's infection had not been

uploaded to the school database. >> we learn the student had not been reported to us and the student attended school for the last seven days. >> parents received a text message the night of the 18th to bring their child to the gym so we could conduct testing before anyone enter the classroom. >> eight students tested positive. he said the school district has been clear about covid procedures since the start of the pandemic. >> in terms of an explanation about why they chose to send their children to school, their initial explanation was they were uncertain of the covid protocols. >> despite the outbreak, the superintendent said the system in place works in the situation is under control. several parents said it has been shocking but it is more of a one-off experience. some say they are happy with how the superintendent handled it. >> i have great respect for the

by 3:00, hazy afternoon sun with moderate air quality. mid to upper 50's, with some low 60's where the sun is shining. we have a warmer sunday on tap and we are tracking a level 1 system. jobina: omicron variant cases have been identified in at least 12 states. starting monday, all international travelers will have to show proof of a negative rapid covid test 24 hours before departure for the u.s. president biden said as of now, no testing requirements will be needed for domestic travel. >> we are actively taking steps to stay ahead of omicron. >> cases in the u.s. have had mild or moderate symptoms and no reported hospitalizations. what is driving hospitalizations, the delta variant, comprising 99 point 9%

of u.s. cases. the cdc's director said that could change. >> we could see more omicron than we have delta, and we will be following that carefully. >> early data suggests the omicron variant could be spreading twice as fast in south africa than delta and omicron could be more likely to infect people who have already had the virus. >> some mutations have shown to increase the infectiousness of the virus. >> it will take weeks to know if omicron is more contagious and how the vaccine works against it. dr. fauci said vaccination remains the best weapon. dr. fauci: there is every reason to believe that if you get vaccinated and boosted that you would have at least some degree of cross protection, very likely against severe disease, even against the omicron variant.

vandalism and progress. there are other outdoor statues on the grounds, like joan of arc. none of them were damaged. the sculpture can be repaired but it will not be easy. >> what we would like to do is recover the missing parts. that would be most essential. >> they hope a tip from the public could help solve the crime. a true greek tragedy. jobina: now to a live look at interstate 80. this is a live look from our camera. i-80 will be shut down between red top road near fairfield. caltrans is closing both directions so crews can remove the old bridge to highway 12. the closure will last until 9:00 tomorrow. signs will be put up to guide people to the detour routes. the next challenge facing major

cities will be air traffic. the result of autonomous aircraft to transport people to goods and services. you are already familiar with drones. the next step is air taxis. abc 7 david louis takes us at at look at how san jose and others are scrambling to manage them. david: if congested streets and airways are not difficult enough, there will be an explosion of air traffic from delivery drones and transport vehicles known as air taxis. air taxis are projected to do 1.5 million rides per year over silicon valley. >> that is four times what is flying today. how do we integrate that into the area with safety and quality of life was to mas.s. >> trying to get ahead of the technology. the group's vice chair.

teaching their crafts, a lot of folks could not afford to live here. we lost a good number of faculty members. >> they were able to get about $75,000 in grants and set up a free pantry to help struggling instructors. it is now bringing back its holiday art fair. >> i am happy to provide a platform for local artists to display the work they are doing. >> there is a lot of talk about supply chain gifts and whatever but there are local people making amazing art. when you put money into those artists, you put it back into the community and it spreads for everyone. >> to meet people who come to the events, that is rewarding for me. i usually passed out after working a show. >> some of that stuff looks so great. the show will take place today
