throughout the afternoon. we will be talking about a warmer sunday. maybe some spreckels on monday at a level one system later in the week. jobina: the parents of the 15-year-old boy accused of killing four students at a michigan high school be arraigned. james and jennifer crumbley were arrested in detroit this morning. they are looking for a person who helped get them into the building and charges may be filed against the person who let them inside. there he very likely were trying to flee to canada. >> james and jennifer, he. it >> the parents of the teen in the oxford shooting are now in custody. >> they appeared to be distressed. as you can imagine. as indicated, they were in a commercial building. we were able to take them into custody without incident.

>> the last -- couple appeared via video. they were do to surrender ahead of their own arraignment on friday. they did not present themselves. the fbi and marshals helped in the search. the marshals offered a $10,000 reward for any information. >> there were a lot of things that could've been so simple to prevent. >> a timeline beginning with james purchase of that nine millimeter pistol on black friday. prosecutors referenced these now deleted instagram posts, one last friday from the account. this was on his mother's account, mom and sunday, testing out his new christmas present. there were several in classroom incidents where one teacher caught the suspect searching online for ammunition on his phone. they called the parents, never

got a response. jennifer texted her son saying, i'm not met you. you have to learn to not get caught. another incident happened the morning of the shooting when prosecutors say a teacher confiscated and alarming drawing showing a gun, blood, the words the thoughts won't stop. the crumley's were called to the school. they refused to take ethan home. >> he was returned to class, where we have reason to leave his gun was in the backpack. it >> that happened just hours later. as the word spread, jennifer crumbley texted her son don't do it. his dad called 911 to report his gun was missing and ethan might be the shooter. >> the notion that a parent could read those words and also know that their son had access to a deadly weapon that they gave him is unconscionable. i think it's criminal. jobina: new

new covid cases involving the omicron variant. all five are adults in alameda county. there were who attended a wedding in milwaukee last weekend, including one who traveled outside the u.s.. not every test has been sequenced. so far, we only know of five omicron cases out of the 12. all have received their boosters. the cases are mildly symptomatic and no one has been hospitalized. dozens of students at a orange county school quarantined after the parents of one student knowingly sent them to class following a positive covid test. tim was out the school and tell us how families and officials are responding. >> it was a thanksgiving break unlike any other.

>> there is disappointment. >> 75 students had to quarantine after parents of one student at school knowingly sent their child to class after they had tested positive for covid-19. >> school officials only found out about the positive case after getting a call from marin public health, wanting to know why it had not been updated to the database. >> we learned that student was never reported to us. they had been attending school for seven days. >> the school took immediate action. >> parents received a text message that i the 18th to bring their child to the gym so we could conduct testing. >> eight students tested positive. the school district has has very clear about covid procedure since the start of the pandemic. it >> in terms of an explanation as to why they chose to continue sending their children to

school, their explanation was that they were uncertain of the protocols. >> the superintendent says the system works and the situation is under control. several parents told us the incident has been shocking. they believe it is a one-off occurrence. many say they are happy with how the superintendent handle it. >> i have great respect for the job he's done with our community. jobina: it's been been been been since kids age 5-11 have been able to get vaccinated. the rate among this age group is slower than it was for children older. the city see found one month after becoming eligible about 16% of kids 5-11 have received their first dose. a month after kids 12 eligible, about 27% had gotten their first shot. on our website, you can find the latest on covid-19.
