today about the deadly standoff in the east bay that happened friday in antioch where an armed man who fired a rifle at cars and houses were shot and killed by police after a tense standoff at the suspect's home, which later caught ira. cornell barnard has the story. >> a dramatic and friday night, gunfire and a house fully engulfed in flames in antioch. it is where police say a man barricaded himself after shooting cars on the street earlier in the day. >> when officers arrived on scene, it was confirmed the suspect was armed with a rifle and was actively shooting at cars and houses. >> this neighbor heard the shots. >> run 1:00 p.m., i heard around 1:00 p.m., i heard three gunshots, and i was thinking it was just a firecracker.

>> police say they tried to make contact with the suspect several times. >> crazy. we saw everything on the news. i told my wife i kind of feared it might have been them and everything. >> allah hundred kennedy said his neighbor, a man in his 40's, was always friendly, never angry and violent. >> with this pandemic going on, it affected a lot of people in different ways. i don't know if it affected him in an adverse way or it he had other things going on in his life. >> the house was on fire, and i was wondering, should i evacuate? >> the man came outside where he was confronted with swat team members. >> they fired their weapons, and the suspect was struck. >> police would not say if the still unidentified man was armed or brandishing a gun when he was shot.

the county da says her office is now investigating. >> i understand a lot of bullets were fired, but we are glad we have been contained here, so now we are just in the follow-up investigation. >> developing news now where a series of tornadoes that hit six states overnight have left dozens of people dead. kentucky was hit very hard. a tornado hit a factory that had more than 100 people inside their use one of the tornadoes may have been on the ground for over 200 miles. abc news reporter karina roy has a look at the devastation. -- abc news reporter reena >> last night, i thought it was as bad as it could possibly be, but you come back today, and is it even worse than you thought before. reena: kentucky one of the hardest hit states.

the governor has declared a state of emergency. >> the level of devastation is unlike anything i have ever seen. sadly, far too many homes that people were likely in entirely devastated. reena: the town ofa: the town ot nearly leveled. >> tonight, we are going to focus on those who have lost so much. that is where our hearts are. reena: the courthouse clock tower collapse. >> now we clean and get a game plan on how to open back up and start serving our community. reena: further east, devastation and a storm caused this train derailment. officials confirm at least two fidelity's and multiple injuries after storms caused this roof to collapse at an amazon

distribution center. the president speaking to the nation this afternoon. >> it is a tragedy, and we still do not know how many lives were lost and the full extent of the damage. i want to emphasize, what i told all the governors, the federal government will do everything it can possibly do to help. >> in the bay area, we are on storm watch this weekend. people in marin county are getting ready for rain and the potential for flooding. it has been a run on firewood and prefilled sandbags. >> we usually order about six or seven pallets and over this past week, we have been selling a lot of them because of the storm coming in. >> this town had plenty of sand with bags ready for residents who wanted to come by and fill

them on sunny hills drive. they provided instructions, but you had to bring your own shovel. our meteorologist iteorologist e the wet weather heading your way. she joins me with more on the timing. >> it is time to batten down the hatches. we have an atmospheric river headed our way. i want to loop it showing satellite radar over the last two hours. this system will move into the north bay this evening and spread through the bay area overnight into tomorrow morning. i will show you these timing, but not :00 tonight, most of this drive. no sale, it starts to get wet -- most of this dry. you will see pockets of on-and-off showers throughout the day, and get ready for even storm year conditions that continue to move through with this atmospheric river into monday. i will have the details and the

annual weapons buyback program today. representatives from the mayors's office, san francisco police department, and community organizations accepted the guns from people who no longer need them. no word yet the number of weapons that were handed in. we are learning more about how president biden's bipartisan infrastructure bill will impact public transportation here in the bay area. speaker of the house nancy pelosi and congresswoman jackie spear joined local transportation leaders to announce the details of the funding. part of the money will go toward extending caltrain into the salesforce transit center and electrifying trains. transit options will also become more readily available for underserved communities, seniors, and people with disabilities. >> this is the biggest investment in infrastructure in the history of this country for

i forgot my santa cap. i don't know if you brought yours. >> i left mine in my bag. it was a great day. enjoy it while you can. a few hours left before a big storm is headed our way. this atmospheric river will give us one to three inches of rain tomorrow and into monday. current temperatures now mostly in the 50's. 50 milder in the south bay. check out los gatos, only 46 right now. i want to show you the timing of the storm system so you can plan. we will see some breaks ahead, but tomorrow morning, notice we wake up to light to moderate rain, and even into the evening, it starts to slide south, so the north bay gets a break, but then we have more rain, another push monday. we will get more rain, some

downpours monday afternoon. notice the areas of orange, red, and yellow. that will be all around the bay area monday, and even the white areas, that is snow in the sierra. you could even see a dusting down some of our mountain areas. rainfall potentials, quite a range. one inch maybe in the rain rain shadow areas and up to three inches in some spots. some of the santa cruz mountains, some models may even pick up to seven inches of rain, so this event will bring a lot of rainfall through the santa cruz mountains, so it is not just the north bay. it is for everybody. rainfall, we will expect it overnight tonight, but noticed there were some pockets. overnight tonight will be mainly in the 40's. the 30's are gone. tomorrow's highs will be in the 50's. upper 50's are the most part around the bay area. 55 in oakland.

55 in san jose. the wind will really pick up. south gusts 15 to 25 miles per hour, but the gusts could get up to 55 miles per hour, so the heaviest will be sunday afternoon into monday afternoon, and you also do not want to be driving to and from the sierra. a winter storm warning is in effect that starts tonight and continues through tuesday. we are talking up to six feet of snow in some localized areas. not a great time to drive. tomorrow's storm, wet and windy, is a two out of five, but monday, we will rank it a three -- strong storm. a bit of a break on tuesday, but another system lighter heading to wednesday and thursday and we finally get a chance to dry out friday into saturday. >> the greatest shooter of all time will soon own the nba record for most threes. the question is -- does steph curry catch ray allen tonight?
