with some light rain. . mike is tracking the neighborhood still being hit with showers this morning. reggie: good morning, you are watching abc7 mornings. we will start with mike's best. mike: it is snowing around the area. i'm excited to see that. there are still some issues on the road that delbene and i will continue to track -- that joe bina -- jobina and i will continue to track. some of those may roam towards us and there is the possibility of thunder and snow down to around 2500 feet. some of our heaviest showers in the san ramon valley and heading across mount diablo towards highway four and the eastern sections of the santa clara valley.

santa cruz mountains. reggie: a homeless encampment was's flooding during yesterday's's storm. it flooded with tencent debris all over. the county issued evacuation warnings for some areas. highway 92 in san mateo county has reopened after flooding forced it to shut down in both directions between skyline boulevard and highway one. calfire shared a few videos showing the mess from the storm. besides the water covering the roadway, there was debris and mud. you can keep an eye on the weather anytime on the abc7 bay area app on roku, android fire, and apple tv. kumasi: state health officials are putting safety measures back in place to keep covid under control during the holidays. one of the things is a statewide mask mandate returning tomorrow and in effect for a month.

the state health secretary says the number of cases is that 47% since the holiday. hospitalizations are up 14%. they decided to put this recommendation in place, asking travelers to get a covid test three to five days after arrival in california. some travelers say they are not sure they want or need to do this. >> that sounds like an extra step of something i don't feel like doing. i understand it is for my safety but if it is a recommendation, i will leave it at that. >> i will probably be quarantined and in general be quarantined in general -- be quarantineing in general next few days. amy: official said this helps with public health efforts. they made it public when they announced a new indoor mask mandate across the state. kumasi: thank you.

the january 6 has recommended contempt charges for mark meadows. the full house could vote as soon as today to ask the justice department to prosecute. jobina: text messages revealed president trump's closest allies wanted him to take action in january 6 as rioters were strumming the capital. the house committee investigating the riots voted to hold mark meadows in contempt of congress. he is refusing to testify even though he provided the messages. as rioters storm for capital, fox news hosts sent messages to mark meadows. liz cheney read them yesterday. >> "the president needs to tell people in the capital to go home. this is hurting all of us. he is destroying his legacy." "can he make a statement, ask people to leave the capital?"

jobina: the network did not respond to request for comment. organizers of the rally to the white house are suing a verizon. they are trained to prevent the company from sharing phone data with the house committee. kumasi: the boy scouts of america announced a proposed settlement of $800 million for survivors of sexual abuse. the organization filed for bankruptcy in february 2020 as hundreds of the victims came forward. many claim they were abused by scout leaders. the organization faces over 92,000 claims of sexual abuse. this settlement is with one insurance company and others could follow. the total settlement is expected to reach $2.5 billion. reggie: hundreds of burger king workers are waiting for money owed to them over wage theft. five locations were met with a citation last year. it accuses the golden gate

we are going to start here with a live look at the oakland camera. this is 880. as you travel further south on 880, he run into a slowdown. you can see a press reported on southbound 880 before industrial parkway, blocking at least one lane. our biggest backup be in lorinda. speeds down to 10 miles per hour. one lane is blocked because a car flipped over on westbound 24 at wilder road. we do have that as an issue. and then the toll plaza kimberly blacktopped -- really backed up -- the toll plaza is really act up.

the california public utilities commission is proposing changes to the program to get homeowners to install solar panels. it includes reducing the rates for installing extra power back to the grid and a $70 per month. fee it would take up to 15 years to recoup the price for installing solar. the cpu says the changes are necessary to make sure everyone is paying their fair share to maintain the power grid. kumasi: in an effort to educate fire risk, pg&e will bury power lines across the state. the state will announce those plans in february. crews will bury nearly 100 miles throughout the year. the ceo of pg&e says public safety shutoffs to prevent fires will affect fewer people but it is not clear when they will become a rarity. reggie: a guitar shaped hotel is coming to the las vegas strip.
