to that isolation change that supporter same -- supporters say will help the economy but opponents believe will put everyone at risk. reporter: the cdc announced those who test positive for covid but have no symptoms should isolate for five days, down from 10. the agency says changes were motivated by science and growing research that the majority of happens early. >> i think that is prudent societal level, the vast majority of people if they feel fine five days after their positive test, they are no longer infectious. reporter: governor newsom tweeted monday that california will align with the new recommendations. according to the cdc, the move is meant to help people safely continue their daily lives. for many, that means being able to get back to work. >> they don't have to worry about being gone so long. >> people have families to feed.

authorities say passenger patricia is seen on video slapping an 80-year-old man, spitting on him and raising her fist. eventually they were yelling at each other about not wearing masks. he can be heard saying he had taken his off while eating. her mask was clearly down, as well. the two yelling and swearing at each other for several minutes. crew members and forcing her to the back of the plane for the rest of the flight. after landing, she was detained by police then taken into fbi custody. male passenger was not charged. numbers of the crew and several other passengers say they were injured during the incident. there has been an unprecedented number of violent confrontations since the start of the year, fueled by the pandemic. american airlines, winning a passenger for life for allegedly attacking a flight attendant in october, breaking bones in her face. heading into christmas weekend, the faa bring more than 57
