live doppler 7, pressing a little bit closer. in parts of the north and east bay from vallejo to concord and even oakland, south city and hayward, life -- light showers. this is a theme for the next five hours. this will track the drizzle and rain and here you can see a live look at gray skies and wet this morning. the forecast will have the scattered showers until 9:00 a.m.. after it will move out. the cloud cover remains. it is a mostly cal -- cloudy day but mild in terms of kempton -- in terms of temperatures. kumasi: this morning we are getting more into the guilty verdict that the jury reached in the trial of elizabeth holmes. they found her guilty on three of 11 charges against her. amy hollyfield joins us with what expertsreing an elizabet holmes did not show any reaction when the verdict

was read. we have some video of her leaving the courthouse after her conviction. she did not comment and looked straight ahead as she walked and was asked questions by reporters. the jury found her guilty of four of 11 charges against her. the trial lasted for almost four months and there was a mountains of evidence. we talked to one woman after the verdict came down, i woman who watched 30 days on the trial and was reflecting back on it and told us one piece of evidence that stuck out to her. >> i was very influenced by the investor from texas that recorded in secret the pitch that elizabeth was making, and i found it made me much more sympathetic to the investors than i had been before the trial. it seemed like they were really getting lied to. amy: here is a look at the 11 charges. she was found guilty into four

-- in 2 -- four counts of fraud and conspiracy, some of the highest charges. not guilty on four counts and the jury could not reach a verdict on the three other charges. now the 37-year-old ceo and founder of therenos will be sentenced and faces up to 20 years in prison for each conviction. reporting live, amy hollyfield. kumasi: for insights into the case and highlights from the trial you can check a podcast called dropout hosted by rebecca jarvis. a new episode about the verdict will be released later today and you can listen to that wherever you stream podcasts. reggie: they pushed to state of emergency in the tenderloin is going to the board of supervisors. it is going to support the declaration to address the overdose epidemic in the neighborhood.

now the board will consider holding another hearing on that declaration. there is a possibility that the super driver -- supervisors could withdraw their support. they want to have a treatment center and crack -- and more please. kumasi: the fda has authorized booster shots for 12 to 15-year-olds who have been fully vaccinated for five months. that is about 5 million kids who can get a third shot. jobina: the rapid increase in covid cases made it clear that the benefits outweigh the risks. the agency is recommending everyone 12 and older originally vaccinated with pfizer get their booster after five months instead of six. the cdc has to sign off on the expanded eligibility but that is expected when its advisory panel meets tomorrow. it comes as pediatric cases are at an all-time high with 325,000 more children testing positive

in the last week. >> we have patients in all age brackets, the sickest of the sick are those not vaccinated. jobina: the postholiday surge is raking records, more than one million people were diagnosed just yesterday. that is the highest number of cases in a single day since the pandemic started and scientists are tracking a new variant in southern france where 12 people have been infected. doctors say it has been around for a month but there are no indications that it is spreading. kumasi: thank you. getting a covid test at kaiser's facility is proving to be anything but easy. traffic backed up for blocks. we noticed a short left-hand turn signal leaving to the drive-through testing area which contributed to the gridlock. a family of seven said that they were in line for 3.5 hours before they were able to get to the front. reggie: bay area restaurants and

bars are making tough calls, deciding to close temporarily for safety. the impact on the economy is a key focus as we work to build a better bay area. we spoke with one restaurant owner who might not reopen until spring. >> these are really hard decisions, and we are tired of trying to figure it out. >> christian albertson made one of the toughest choices deciding to put his restaurant into hibernation. closing the doors temporarily until spring when the omicron surge might be subsiding. >> we feel a moral responsibility to provide to guests and our staff, especially, but everyone, a safe environment. right now it is a dangerous time. >> about 35 employees were laid out -- laid off, none have tested positive. >> upending lives like that is the hardest part about it. >> the san francisco location

reggie: the union representing u.s. capitol police officers says that problems identified after the january 6 insurrection have not been fixed including low morale and staffing issues. these, just days before the anniversary of the riot when supporters of president trump tried to block the certification of the insurrection. john major is saying that training and equipment issues that plagued officers during the siege have addressed. >> we have a blueprint that we go by and it addresses all of the things that went wrong on the sixth. reggie: the justice department has charged more than 700 people in connection with the riot. the house select committee will tell the initial findings in october. kumasi: a family is re-united

helping drivers. there actually stealing the money. it happened to in east bay dashe r who lost his money and also got kicked off the platform. >> there would be days where nothing would come off one of those. >> timothy johnson drives a truck at the port of oakland. with fewer ships unloading he was not getting enough work. >> it has been really rush -- rough. >> so he taught -- signed up to be a doordash driver and bought this hybrid car with heated seats. and then after working in the port he would switch to delivering food. >> i would get off around 4:00 the morning and i would go straight into doordash. i am tired, i am out there pretty late, trying to make ends meet. >> it was going well until his app shut them out and said that dasher must be active. he contacted doordash.

imposters had switch his banking information and that raised suspicion. a spokesperson said that mr. johnson's account was deactivated because of a fraudulent bank account associated with his account. we were able to identify and resolve the issue. doordash returned his money and now tim is back to delivering food. >> i am getting a lot more as well. you are my hero, thank you channel seven. it is the best. reggie: that was michael reporting. doordash says it is warning drivers through emails and push notifications. if someone calls saying that it is doordash support they are suggesting that you hang up and contact the company directly through the app. kumasi: emergency crews have been busy rescuing people who have been stranded because of the snow. calfire showed this image, a person had to be held after they got stuck on the roof of a house after having some kind of medical emergency.

with light showers falling. the last 24 hours, oakland one of the big winners. more than half of an inch and more than that in san francisco. almost a quarter in hayward. san jose and much of the south bay you have not received rain and much of the day looks dry. the wet weather is focused on parts of the east bay, north bay, and city across -- along the peninsula. the south bay is dry. visibility is an issue where we have the showers falling and dogs developing. down to three miles in hayward. take it easy as the rain moves through. we keep it in the forecast through 10:00 a.m.. we will have those light showers at this level one light storm moving through. rainfall estimates really like. less than a 10th of an inch. the issue is these slick roadways and reduced visibility. a coastal flood advisory, 9:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. today.

the rollout of 5g wireless tech for another two weeks. there were concerns that could interfere with safety systems on planes around airports. both wireless companies say that 5g is safe but airlines and federal regulators are not convinced. apple is the world's first publicly traded company to hit a $3 trillion stock market value. shares were trading at an all-time high yesterday before dropping under that mark moments later. apple has tripled its valuation in under four years and analysts expect it to continue to grow with strong iphone sales as well as gains. kumasi: a stockton community college will use $3.5 million to eliminate student debt. the delta college says that will forgive the debt for current and former students and they do not have to do a thing to benefit from the decision. this follows a vote by the board of trustees last month.
