highest snowfall so far this month since 2016. >> now the volcanic eruption off the coast of tonga. this is a mountain of dust in the sky. new zealand and australia sent flights to survey the damage. it sends a plume of ash 12 miles into the air. new zealand officials haven't received any reports of deaths or injuries. the tsunami knocked out phone so this. huge waves had a significant impact on tonga's capital. ocean waves travel more than 5000 miles to bay area coastlines. the water poured into richardson bay ripping the boat dock off of the building. waves also flooded santa cruz harbor.

we know a lot interested in the science behind this care. we are hearing from experts about how common underwater volcanoes are. we are here in pacifica, one of the areas most impacted by the tsunami advisory and still impacted to a certain extent this morning. we can see video from these waves right now. they have been pretty strong this morning. we have video saturday from the waves crashing up to the boardwalk. usgs says the power of that volcano eruption off the coast of tonga was so strong and loud that it could be heard all the way to alaska.

>> there must been a very large amount of magma that was exposed somehow may from an underwater landslide or something that then encountered the seawater and exploded really violently. >> that is what prompted the tsunsshe entire west coast. we did see that flooding in santa cruz. the question now for a lot of people is could this happen again. the short answer is yes. experts say that although tsunamis triggered from a volcano eruption are rare, it is still a possibility. there's about 60 underground volcanoes or submarine volcanoes off the coast of california.

teenagers are getting tested now at higher rates. >> the older kids tend to have symptoms more and they are getting tested outside of the school context because they are more likely to have symptoms. >> data 17-year-olds in san francisco are fully vaccinated and 23% are boosted. boosters became available for that age group less than two weeks ago. >> if you are heading to hawaii soon you may need covid booster to go there. if you haven't gotten your booster he would have to isolate from five days upon arriving. the governor says travelers would be given several weeks notice before the rule goes into effect. oakland businesses must now post a notice stating they will require proof vaccinations.
