in the n.f.c. championship game. good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm dion lim. you're watching abc7 news at 11:00 live wherever you stream. now, what is perhaps most heartbreaking about this defeat is the 49ers entered the fourth quarter a 10-point lead. they could not hold on abc7 news sports anchor chris alvarez joining us now. chris: they had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter of the super bowl. remember that just a few years ago. just like that tough loss to the chiefs in miami, he came up short against the rivals rams this time in the n.f.c. championship. niners went up 10 late in the third. garoppolo to george kilt touchdown. 17-7. san francisco feeling good. but the defining moment came in the fourth. tart dropping the interception. they tied the game on a field goal. the niners were down 20-17 with less than two minutes to go.

chris: the 49ers had a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter of the super bowl just a few seasons ago and just like that tough loss to the chiefs in miami. he came up short against the rams. this time in the n.f.c. championship the niners went up 10 late in the third quarter on this jimmy garoppolo to george kittle touchdown connection. made it 17-7 san francisco. but a defining moment came in the fourth. tart dropping a for sure interception. rams drive stayed alive. and they tied the game on a field goal.
